かわとよ
This is my first post, but I have visited this restaurant several times for work. This time, I brought my wife, who had never been here before. We had a reservation for 7:00 pm, and there was only one other group of two already there. Normally, this place is always packed, so it was surprising to see it so empty. The staff were all off duty, which worked out well, as the owner mentioned. We started with a toast with a draft beer. The appetizer was a pumpkin salad, which was delicious with a sweet taste of pumpkin. The sashimi here is incredibly good, so you must order it when you come here. The sashimi platter included various types of fish, all of which were delicious. The standout was the "buri" (yellowtail), with its fatty belly surpassing other sushi and Japanese restaurants. The presentation was also amazing, with the decoration made from vegetables. We enjoyed some sake from Mie called "Kawatake" with the sashimi. We also had grilled salted child-bearing ayu (sweetfish), which had a unique flavor from the roe. We paired this with hot sake from Fukui called "Kuzuryu." Next, we had fried shark, which was a rare treat and surprisingly tasty with a crispy coating and tartar sauce. We also tried the grilled head of red shrimp, which was crunchy and flavorful. The simmered stone flounder was a rare and delicious dish. The chawanmushi was filled with plenty of ingredients and perfect for the cooling weather. We finished with green tea soba, which was a satisfying end to the meal. The total bill for a draft beer, sake, hot sake, green tea, and various dishes came to just over 14,000 yen. This restaurant is delicious, affordable, and definitely worth a visit. We will be back. Thank you for the meal.
