My husband and I decided to have lunch in Tennoji, and we chose <Hakata motsunabe Yamaya Osaka Abeno store> the night before. I have been there a few times with friends in the past, but it was my husband's first time. When I told him, "They have all-you-can-eat mentaiko and takana," he replied, "Wow." When we arrived at the restaurant, there were already 4 groups waiting. We looked at the menu, placed our order, paid in advance, and were seated. My husband ordered the Chicken Nanban set meal, and I ordered the Umadashi Karaage set meal with unlimited rice, takana, and mentaiko. The main set meals were delicious, of course. My husband enjoyed the mentaiko so much that he had 3 helpings of rice. I also had 2 helpings for my ochazuke. Before we knew it, we had finished all the mentaiko in the bowl. My husband said, "Thank you for bringing me to this restaurant. Let's eat here again when we come to Tennoji." Thank you for the meal.

【Osaka/Tennoji】Beat the heat! Went to eat delicious motsunabe! ~《Hakata Motsunabe Yamaya Osaka Abeno Store》I had been invited by my daughter to go eat motsunabe for a while, and we finally made it happen! Just a 5-minute walk from Tennoji Station, we headed to the 《Hakata Motsunabe Yamaya Osaka Abeno Store》! ε=(ノ・∀・)ツ The exterior has a Japanese-style look, and the interior has a simple and stylish open atmosphere. The motsunabe soup comes in two types: "Agodashi soy sauce" made with domestically roasted flying fish broth and Kyushu brewed soy sauce, and "Rich miso" made with white miso and sesame oil. I thought we'd go with the soy sauce, but my daughter insisted on the miso, so we chose that. 〈Delicious dishes〉 ○ Kumamoto Dekopon Sour ○ Yamaya's Yuzu Juice ○ Hakata Motsunabe Rich Miso ○ Specialty Sesame Mackerel ○ Dashi Rolled Mentaiko Tamagoyaki ○ Chicken Karaage Mentaiko Flavor ○ Champon Noodles We toasted with a few drinks and ordered some dishes. The "Dashi Rolled Mentaiko Tamagoyaki" is a luxurious tamagoyaki with "Yamaya's mentaiko" rolled in it, made with delicious Hakata broth. The "Hakata Motsunabe" has tender "motsu" with vegetables like cabbage, burdock, leeks, and tofu. The balance of ingredients in the pot is very good, but even though it's for two people, the overall quantity felt a bit small. Maybe everything is getting more expensive? The elegant sweetness of the white miso based on Kyoto miso and bonito broth is very delicious, and it goes perfectly with all the vegetables! The "motsu" has a good chewy and bouncy texture, with a gentle sweetness and umami that spreads in your mouth, without any unpleasant smell! The creamy texture of the "motsu" is incredibly delicious. Of course, we finished with champon noodles. The miso broth and thick noodles are a perfect match for the finale! The chewy thick noodles are perfect for the final touch. I'm completely satisfied and full ♥️ Thank you for the delicious meal (^q^)

I had been to Fukuoka and Umeda before, but I never knew there was a store in Tennoji, and I had never looked it up. I arrived 5 minutes before the store opened at 10:55, but there was no roof so I felt like I was melting. As soon as I entered, I placed my order and paid for it. I ordered the Chicken Nanban set and the Spicy Cod Roe Fried Chicken set. It was so hot that it didn't feel like it was time for "motsunabe." I didn't particularly like the Chicken Nanban. I think the Spicy Cod Roe Fried Chicken was more delicious. You can have seconds of the Spicy Cod Roe and pickled vegetables on rice. The rice with Spicy Cod Roe and pickled vegetables in dashi broth was delicious! However, I thought I would like to come back in autumn to eat motsunabe. Thank you for the meal.

Umadashi Fried Chicken Set Meal for 1100 yen includes pickled vegetables, spicy cod roe, white rice, and all-you-can-eat broth! As many of you may know, this restaurant specializes in motsunabe (tripe hot pot) and offers set meals only during lunchtime, with their popular menu item being fried chicken. The fried chicken comes in two varieties: one coated in spicy cod roe-infused batter and the other based on a broth. This time, I ordered the broth version. It arrived promptly, but I noticed that the portion of fried chicken was noticeably smaller than when I last visited a few years ago, which was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, I started eating and the taste was still delicious. And when it comes to this place, the highlight is the all-you-can-eat spicy cod roe. I almost felt like I came here more for the spicy cod roe than the fried chicken, haha. The spicy cod roe and pickled vegetables are served in small jars, and I ended up getting several refills of both. The spicy cod roe is unlimited, so you can enjoy it to your heart's content. The rice is also unlimited, so feel free to eat as much as you like. Additionally, the interior of this restaurant is very beautiful, with a decor reminiscent of a traditional Japanese inn.

I had motsunabe at Yama-ya, located about a 1-minute walk from Abeno Station. The motsunabe (¥1,750 for 2 servings) was soy sauce-based, a classic in Hakata. The motsu was tender and the moment it turned from pink to transparent was the best time to eat it. There was a lot of burdock in it, which added a great texture. I wish there was a bit more cabbage though. I also had the champon noodles (¥450) with extra dashi added, but I felt like the flavor got diluted. I started to think that the zosui (rice porridge) might be tastier than the noodles. The dashimaki mentai tamago (¥750) had a large piece of mentaiko inside, giving it a strong mentaiko flavor. It was slightly spicy with a hint of citrusy acidity, characteristic of Yama-ya's mentaiko. It was delicious. If you go for lunch, you can have all-you-can-eat mentaiko, so it might feel like a waste to order it separately. I felt like a penny-pincher.

I visited a restaurant in Tennoji on Saturday for lunch without a reservation, but they said they prioritize reservations and couldn't tell me when they could seat us. So we ended up becoming lunch refugees. We thought that a place popular with women might have slow turnover, so we tried another place. We had to wait a little, but we were able to get in. I ordered the hokke set meal, which came with mentaiko and pickles, so I ended up eating a lot. We talked a lot while eating, and before we knew it, we were being urged to leave. It wasn't a very glamorous lunch gathering, but it was fun.

Visited on Sunday at 11 am. Was able to enter without waiting in line. Ordered the Chicken Nanban, paid at the register first, then took a seat. The food came out quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. There were pickled vegetables and spicy cod roe on the table for free refills. Rice refills were also free. The spicy cod roe was delicious, so I had seconds of rice. My child also loves spicy cod roe, so they ate a lot. When we finished our meal, there was a line forming. Next time, I want to try the motsunabe (offal hot pot). Thank you for the meal.

I have been to this restaurant many times, and it's a place where you can easily get a full meal for just a little over 1,000 yen. I went just before 2 pm, close to the end of lunchtime, and there was a line. It's better to be prepared to wait on weekends. This time, I had the Chicken Nanban set meal. It was delicious as always. The side dishes are also carefully made with attention to detail. You can have seconds of rice, but the portion is already quite filling. For the finishing touch, I recommend having it as an ochazuke-style dish with umadashi.

I enjoyed delicious dishes at a reasonable price. The courses were all delicious. I asked if I could have dessert, but even after waiting for 10 minutes, it didn't come. When I inquired about it, they said they would bring it right away, but it still didn't arrive. So, I decided not to eat it and just paid the bill. I deducted 0.2 points as a way to encourage them to improve a little more.

I had always wanted to try the lunch at Yamaya, so I went there after finishing work in the morning. I arrived at 12:50 pm and there were 5 people waiting ahead of me. I was seated after about 10 minutes. I wanted to eat a lot of mentaiko, so I chose the simmered dish instead of fried food. The simmered dish was delicious, but there was not a single piece of chicken in it, only a small piece of chicken skin shown on the left edge of the photo. Even when I tried to scoop it out, there was really no chicken meat at all, which was disappointing. The side dish was burdock, which was a bit redundant with the simmered dish. The portion was large and tasty, but I couldn't finish it as I got full quickly. I could only eat about half of the mentaiko. The mentaiko was not spicy and had a refreshing taste like yuzu. It was easy to eat more than regular mentaiko, but it definitely made me thirsty all day. The simmered dish, burdock side dish, and miso soup all had a dashi flavor, and the seasoning was not too strong, which made it delicious. I learned that I couldn't have seconds with the simmered dish because of the large portion, so I might try the fried chicken next time.

The exterior of the store and the staff's service were excellent! Despite being crowded, they provided attentive customer service. However, when we ordered side dishes in addition to the motsunabe at a two-person table, the table was unexpectedly too small, making it a bit difficult to use.

On September 14, 2022 (Wednesday) during the day, I went to "Hakata motsunabe Yamaya Osaka Abeno Store" located near Tennoji Station/Abeno Bridge Station. I ordered the "Umadashi Karaage Teishoku" for 1,100 yen. I had high expectations based on the photos and reviews I had seen, but I was quite disappointed. The portion size and taste were both lacking. The Karaage was small and unappetizing, and there were only 5 pieces. The "mentaiko" on the table was also unimpressive. I tried to enhance the flavor with garlic paste, garlic chips, and mayonnaise, which helped a little. The umadashi broth for ochazuke at the end was surprisingly delicious. Overall, the experience was not satisfying, and I won't be returning to this restaurant.

Today's lunch was at "Hakata motsunabe Yamaya Osaka Abeno Store." It was my first visit to this restaurant. I had been to their store in Kitahama a few years ago. I ordered the "Fried chicken with mentaiko flavor set meal" for 1,200 yen (tax included) at the register upon entering the restaurant. I paid in advance. I was seated at a table furthest back in the restaurant, ensuring social distancing. This restaurant offers unlimited servings of mentaiko, karashi takana, and rice! While waiting, I checked the bowls of mentaiko and karashi takana. The karashi takana was quite depleted, but the mentaiko was still plentiful. It seemed like they didn't replenish them after each customer turnover. I wish they would tidy up the bowls by removing any stray karashi takana or mentaiko. The food was served. I piled on the karashi takana and mentaiko and dug in! The karashi takana and mentaiko rice was delicious! The fried chicken with mentaiko flavor was also tasty. The side dishes, salad, and miso soup were all good too. For my second serving of rice, I only added mentaiko. I was full. Hmm... it was a bit pricey. I think it used to be around 1,000 yen before. Thank you for the meal.

The pricing may be a bit high, but they offer unlimited servings of mentaiko, rice, and the chicken karaage is made with fresh ingredients and tastes delicious without being too salty. The tartar sauce for the chicken nanban is homemade and not too sour, with a nice spicy kick from the mentaiko. The complimentary mentaiko tea-soaked rice at the end was a luxurious finish. Thank you for the meal.

It's hot, but I still want to eat motsunabe while sweating. The famous Yama-ya in Hakata is a great place to enjoy it. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice, and they offer a complimentary drink if you enter before 6pm. They also give a free serving of motsu per person. The broth for the motsunabe is light yet flavorful, and even the ramen at the end was delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I happened to notice this shop by chance and it turned out to be a lucky find for us as we were looking for a place to have lunch. It's located in a hidden spot around the backstreets of Harukas, known only to a few. The sign isn't very conspicuous, so you'll have to look for it! The all-you-can-eat mentaiko (spicy cod roe) was a real treat! And I love motsunabe (offal hot pot) too! Mixing the mentaiko into the motsunabe is the ultimate combination! It's a great deal being all-you-can-eat! The karaage (fried chicken) and other lunch menu items also looked delicious, so it's a perfect spot for a quick lunch or even a casual daytime drink. Families and couples were also dining there, so it's a place that suits everyone! I'd love to come back for lunch again sometime! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

In Abeno, there is a popular restaurant known for its Hakata motsunabe with all-you-can-eat mentaiko and takana for lunch. Before the pandemic, I used to go there often. I visited after a long time because I was craving their mentaiko fried chicken. Even though it was past the lunchtime peak, the restaurant was still packed. I ordered the chicken fried with mentaiko flavor set meal for 1,200 yen, which came with rice, salad, side dishes, miso soup, and umadashi. When the set meal arrived, I noticed that the tray was quite wet, and there were a few rice grains stuck to the handle of the teacup. The fried chicken had less volume, the coating was not as tasty, and it was less juicy compared to when I had it before. Lastly, I tried making ochazuke by pouring dashi over rice, but it wasn't very delicious. It might be because the dashi was weak or the mentaiko alone was not flavorful enough. It was okay when I added the takana. I am curious about trying other set meals next time, but if I go again, I will choose something other than the fried chicken.

In preparation for my trip to Fukuoka, I went to eat mentaiko at Yumeya! The mentaiko at Yumeya is really delicious. Even though I went there mainly for the mentaiko, the fried dishes were also tasty. The ham cutlet is so tempting, isn't it? The fried chicken has a mentaiko flavor ❤️ Definitely go to Fukuoka to taste it!

Impression: Last month, I had motsunabe in Hakata and started craving it in Osaka, so I came to this restaurant. I visited without a reservation and had no problem getting a table. I ordered motsunabe, teppan gyoza, and karashi takana, and added motsu, cabbage, and champon noodles. I also had a couple of drinks, but the total bill was less than 5,000 yen per person. It was affordable and I left feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Yamaya's fried chicken set meal. Due to the influence of the coronavirus, the cod roe and pickled vegetables that used to be self-service from the pot are now order-based. This also helps prevent food waste. As for the main dish, the fried chicken, isn't it a lot? There were about 5-6 large pieces of fried chicken. There were so many side dishes that I couldn't even get to the cod roe refill. But this fried chicken is full of volume. It has a slight cod roe flavor and is super delicious. A satisfying set meal that fills you up with rice. And it's reasonably priced. It was delicious - thank you for the meal!
