Yome-san and I had the same day off, so we decided to go mountain climbing at Nishibetsudake. Even though we heard that the view is beautiful when it's clear, as usual, the mountain was covered in fog and we couldn't see anything. Despite that, we enjoyed admiring the alpine plants and the challenging climb. After coming down, we looked forward to relaxing in a hot spring in Nakashibetsu, which was an hour away. Since we didn't plan on going anywhere else after the mountain climb, I didn't bring my camera or a list of nearby shops. Yome-san found a cafe where we could have coffee. The cafe was called "Hokari Park" and had a lovely interior with a few seats at the counter and tables. The atmosphere was relaxing with soft music playing in the background. I had organic coffee for 400 yen, while Yome-san had tea for 500 yen with three-color dumplings in sweet soup. The coffee was carefully brewed and had a gentle flavor. The tea was delicious, and the homemade raisin and walnut cookies were tasty. The cafe was a cozy place to unwind, and we enjoyed our time there.

Curry udon was different from what I had imagined, with curry sauce and cheese, and I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpectedness. It was quite delicious! It would be great if they had a menu with galettes using curry sauce too. ===========

The galette here is made with potatoes and is chewy and very filling. It may take a little time to come out since it's just one person running the place, but the great view makes it worth the wait. You can only try the mugwort-infused potato galette with lamb Genghis Khan here.

On May 20, 2015, Wednesday, under the clear sky, I went to "Hokari Park" with a friend who knows the area well. The place is located in the back of Nakkarino. I was a bit worried if it was open, but the view was very nice and if it was warmer, outdoor dining would be possible. Surrounded by a pond and trees, it might be nice for families with small children. Fresh flowers were displayed on each table, giving a seasonal feel. When choosing from the menu, we thought about ordering the Milk Tofu Cutlet Curry each, but the staff advised that the portions were quite large, so it might be better to order something else and share. Following the advice, we ordered the Milk Tofu Cutlet Curry, Bacon and Cod Roe Galette, and later ordered drinks to share. The drinks were served after the meal, along with an orange cake. The cake was moist and delicious. The Milk Tofu Cutlet Curry was huge! Women might not be able to finish it alone. Sharing it was the right choice. The Galette crust was quite thick. Surprisingly, cod roe and cheese go really well together. I was so full that maybe just the Galette would have been enough. They seem to be open in winter too, so it might be nice to visit seasonally and enjoy the view. Thank you for the meal.
