I visited the elusive ramen shop, Sadakazu's Mibu branch, which is only open late at night in Gion. This shop is only open for 2 hours at lunchtime. This time, I had the special ramen. The soup, noodles, chashu, green onions, and shinachiku were all delicious, and I finished every last drop of the soup. The customer service and care from the staff were excellent, making it a very satisfying dining experience. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A ramen shop located in a narrow alley in Shijo-Omiya. It's hard to find if you don't know about it. The shop doesn't blend in with the surrounding atmosphere, it's stylish. I ordered the special soy sauce ramen with back fat for 1200 yen. It's not the typical Kyoto-style black soy sauce ramen, but a delicious and unique version. Highly recommended. It seems like they only have ramen on the menu. The only downside is that they have short operating hours.

I visited "Sadakazu" for the first time, a place I had been curious about for a while. The restaurant is only open for 2 hours during the day. It is located down a small alley with no flashy signs. The interior is clean and cozy, with seating for about 10 people around the kitchen. The menu offers three types of soy sauce pork broth ramen with different types of chashu: regular, special, and limited. You can also choose between regular and half-sized portions. They also serve cold ramen starting at 1 pm. The soup has a rich umami flavor, paired perfectly with the thin noodles, crunchy negi (green onions), menma (bamboo shoots), and a hint of chili powder. Overall, it was a delicious ramen experience, and I believe "Sadakazu" stands out among the famous ramen shops in Kyoto due to the owner's dedication and attention to detail.

For today's lunch, I went to "Kyoto Ramen Mibu Sadakazu" in Shijo Omiya. They start serving cold noodles at 1:00 PM. I'll have the "Special Ramen Large" please. Thank you. Let's start with the soup. The broth is soy sauce flavored pork bone broth, known as "chatcha" style with back fat. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles with a firm texture. Toppings include chashu, bamboo shoots, and plenty of chopped green onions. The chashu is tender and melts in your mouth. The bamboo shoots are of the traditional type. Thank you for the meal.

I revisited the restaurant and got super excited. It's not easy to visit at this time, so I was really happy. Just like last time, I ordered the large portion of ramen. Last time, the owner was the father, but this time it was the son? The way they make the ramen is a bit different, and it changed the impression of the soup quite a bit. The taste was still delicious, but the soup wasn't as piping hot as before. Maybe the bowl wasn't warmed up enough? However, it was still delicious and I left satisfied!

I was invited for lunch and visited for the first time. The fact that they are only open for 2 hours added to the excitement (laughs). It's a small shop with only a counter that can seat about 10 people. It's very clean and has a sense of cleanliness. I tried their special ramen. It was a rich and creamy style, truly Kyoto ramen! I would love to visit this place again.

I only thought this shop was open for 2 hours for lunch and I wouldn't be able to go. But miraculously, I arrived after 1:00. I ordered the regular size ramen and it was cooked efficiently. The ramen was delicious, with a light but flavorful soup that was piping hot! I burned my mouth. The noodles had a good chewy texture and were sharp. I ordered the large size, thinking it might just be half a portion more like some places do, but it was actually a lot. It had the same amount as the large size at another shop, and it was really satisfying and incredibly delicious. I can't resist how delicious it is. I really want to revisit within the limited time.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Omiya Station, this hidden gem is tucked away in a quiet alley after passing by the original Gyoza no Ohsho restaurant. The restaurant has very limited opening hours, only open for 2 hours during lunchtime, making it quite rare and sought after. Similar to its main branch in Gion, which is only open for 3 hours late at night, this unique operating style appeals to enthusiasts. Today, I found myself on the train heading towards Omiya Station, contemplating whether I would make it in time for lunch at Sadakazu-san's Kyoto Ramen. Without considering any other noodle shops, I made my way straight to Sadakazu-san's. As always, the master greeted me with a friendly smile. I ordered the Ramen in a large portion. The menu offers two options: standard and special, with choices of regular or large size. This time, I went for the large Ramen, although I later noticed there was a special menu featuring Iberico pork. If it's available next time, I'll definitely give it a try. The soup at Sadakazu-san's is especially delicious, I could imagine mixing it with shochu and drinking it from a jug. The noodles are thin and tender, which I usually prefer, and the chashu is flavorful, making me want to pair it with rice. However, this noodle shop is quite strict and doesn't even offer white rice. It's a shame that I can't visit more often, but the bowl of ramen was truly delicious.

In a place where only locals walk in the back alleys, I wondered if there really was a shop there. This place is only open for 2 hours during the day, but the shops in Gion Shijo are only open late at night, so it was easier to come here. I arrived around 12 pm on a weekday and was able to enter without waiting. The shop had moved and the inside was very clean, with jazz music playing, making it a welcoming atmosphere even for a woman dining alone! I had decided on the special ramen in large size before going, and it was the classic Kyoto-style ramen with back fat and soy sauce! Delicious!! The crispy texture of the green onions, the tender and flavorful chashu, and the large amount of red pepper sprinkled on top all added to the wonderful taste! I'm not good with spicy food, so I was a little hesitant, but I had no problem eating it at all! The soup was refreshing yet rich, and I could have kept drinking it because it was so delicious. I ended up finishing it all! The large size was really satisfying with a substantial amount of noodles! The shop owner's kind demeanor and attention to detail were also wonderful. I definitely want to go again!

When it comes to Kyoto ramen, this place is the best by far. It's on par with Kyokutei and makes you question if it might actually be the number one ramen in Kyoto. Not only is the taste amazing, but the hospitality is also beautiful. They warm the bowls, so the ramen stays hot until the very end.

I had heard rumors that it was delicious, so I had been curious for a long time. I finally got to visit. The interior of the restaurant has a pop feel, and I was wondering what kind of ramen would come out, but it was Kyoto Ramen Do Strike!! The pork seems to be handled with great care, as there is no smell. The richness of the soup base is amazing. The char siu is pink in color, and it seems to be delicately made with temperature control. The flavor is a bit strong. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again. It was really delicious!

"Ramen" 800 yen A branch of a famous Gion restaurant that only operates for 3 hours in the late night of 2023. On the contrary, this one is only open for 2 hours during the day. Also, it is closed on Sundays, so the hurdle is quite high. Parked the car at a nearby coin parking and arrived around 11:45. The restaurant was located in a back alley. About half of the seats were empty, and I sat at the counter. The default noodle menu has only one type of ramen, with options for extra-large and half portions. There was also a more expensive special edition made with Iberico pork available that day. There are no side dishes, not even rice. The ramen was served shortly after. It came with two thick slices of pork, bamboo shoots, and green onions. The soup had a moderate soy sauce color with plenty of fine pork fat floating on top, and it was sprinkled with a spice blend. Let's dig in! First, the soup... The richness of the pork bone and the assertiveness of the soy sauce hit you immediately. The sweetness and richness of the pork fat and the broth's depth come together. It's a Kyoto-style ramen with a touch of elegance. The spice blend adds a slight kick to the appearance. The noodles are medium-thin and have a nice bite, packed with the flavor of wheat. They pair well with the soup. The thinly sliced pork is tender and flavorful. Even the bamboo shoots are surprisingly delicious. A delicious bowl that lets you savor the essence of Kyoto. Thank you for the meal!

The menu offers only two types of ramen: regular and special ramen, which is refreshingly simple and clean. I ordered the special ramen, which is a soy sauce pork bone broth with floating back fat and a sprinkle of spice. The soup is light but flavorful, with a gentle richness from the back fat. The slightly bitter kick from the spice enhances the appetite. The spiciness is subtle. The noodles are thin and straight, cooked al dente, perfectly complementing the soup. The large bamboo shoots do not overpower the dish. The chashu pork is tender and moist. It is truly delicious. Wrapping the noodles around the hidden green onions underneath adds a pleasant aroma that lingers in the nose. Initially, I thought there was too much green onion, but it turned out to be just the right balance. The green onion serves as a complementing ingredient rather than just a flavoring. This ramen, perfectly balanced with the green onion, may be the best I've ever had. Thank you for the meal.

I had the special ramen with soy sauce and back fat for 1,000 yen plus an extra 100 yen. The owner was the only one working and it took some time to be served, but the service was very thorough and the ramen was delicious. Despite the appearance of back fat, the soup had a gentle soy sauce flavor that wasn't too heavy. The noodles were just right in firmness with a good chew, so I recommend ordering simply at first and trying it out. They are open from 11:30 to 13:30, so please be mindful of the hours.

I heard from an acquaintance that this place is very delicious, so I decided to go. I was told that there would be a long line, so I arrived just before opening and was able to enter without waiting. The interior of the restaurant is very clean with only a counter. The menu consists only of ramen, with no alcohol available. They serve mineral water, which was very tasty. I had high expectations. I ordered the classic ramen, which was very light and the owner was right when he said it's a ramen you can eat every day without getting tired of it. It was delicious. However, as someone who doesn't eat ramen every day, I personally think it could have a bit more flavor.

I went to the Gion branch last night, so I got interested and came here as well. The nearest station is Shijo-Omiya, Omiya. There is a diagonal path called Ura-in-dori, and if you turn left onto the narrow Nishiki-kouji, you will see a yellow... what do you call it? Awning? shop. It was around 11:15 on a weekday. There was a middle-aged man fiddling with his phone in front of the shop, and I thought he was in line, but it turned out to be Mr. Sadakazu (pseudonym). There was a person watering plants a couple of shops ahead, who mentioned that the shop would open soon. I went to check it out, and it seemed like that was the original location of the shop. It might be Mr. Sadakazu's son (pseudonym)? They said they would be ready soon and asked us to wait inside. Inside, the walls were a yellowish orange, and the counter was in a U-shape with about 4 seats on each side, so a total of 11 seats. There were about 5 waiting seats inside. The counter was made of wood. The son of Mr. Sadakazu? was also very nice! First of all, his voice was gentle. The menu was the same as the Gion branch. Iberico pork chashu limited to 1,500 yen, back fat soy sauce ramen regular size for 800 yen, special ramen for 1,000 yen, large size for an additional 100 yen, and half size for a discount of 50 yen, if I remember correctly. I ordered the regular ramen for 800 yen. The order was ready quickly, in about 3 minutes. The visual presentation was similar. The green onions looked a bit fresher here. The soup... delicious! It felt slightly richer compared to the other branch. Maybe they make it gentler over there because it's usually consumed after drinking... The noodles... also delicious with medium-thin curly noodles. The bamboo shoots and chashu were also quite good. The chashu was soft and tasty. In short, I finished it easily. This ramen can probably be eaten even in the morning. Of course, it's also good as a meal after drinking, and you could probably eat it even when you have a cold. Am I exaggerating? haha There are several types of Kyoto ramen, but this one is a clear soup with back fat, a rich and hearty style. It was a good experience, combined with the personalities of Mr. Sadakazu (pseudonym) and his son. The timing is tight, but I would like to visit again (*^^*)

My brother-in-law invited me and my son out for ramen. We left Ibaraki around 8 PM yesterday and arrived in Kyoto at 6 AM this morning. My son boasted about driving most of the way, but ended up driving only about 100 kilometers. After drinking morning beer at 7 AM, I fell asleep and woke up at 10 AM. I'm feeling sleepy and my eyes hurt. But since my brother-in-law is taking us out for ramen, let's go with a smile! He took us to "Kyoto Ramen Mibu Sadakazu" - the same place that I couldn't finish the ramen last time I visited their Gion branch. They are only open from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Feeling unsure if they were open, we arrived at 11:17 AM and luckily, the curtain was up! The interior had a counter in a U-shape around the chef, with one extra row compared to their previous location. It was full, so we waited until a group left before entering. The aroma inside was delightful. The ramen options were regular ramen (800 yen), special ramen (1000 yen), large size (+100 yen), half size (-50 yen), and limited special ramen with Iberico pork chashu (1500 yen). We ordered three special ramen. The special ramen arrived, garnished with chili peppers. The soup was delicious, with a perfect spicy kick. The noodles were excellent, slurping up the soup easily. The chashu was tender and paired well with the soup. The negi and menma also added great flavor. Everything in this bowl seemed meticulously calculated and well-balanced. They only have a 2-hour lunch service, but they are open for 3 hours at their Gion branch in the evening. We enjoyed chatting with the friendly chef as we finished our meal. He asked if we enjoyed the ramen, to which we replied, "It was delicious!" I couldn't help but repeatedly praise the deliciousness of the meal. I had ramen last night, finished the soup, and ended up with diarrhea. I told myself not to finish the soup this time, but it was just too tasty not to slurp it all up. As a bonus, they took photos of us and mentioned they might post them on their Instagram or website, making me a little embarrassed.

During lunchtime, I took a bus from Saga Arashiyama towards Kyoto Station. The bus passed through Shijo Omiya Station, so I decided to get off there. The restaurant was located down a narrow street, and after struggling with the map on Tabelog, I finally arrived. I have visited a restaurant in Gion at night before, but this was my first time here. Inside the restaurant, there was a counter arranged in a U-shape. Since I had tried their special ramen in Gion before, this time I opted for the regular ramen. The clear soup with plenty of back fat, chopped Kujo green onions, and sliced red chili pepper sprinkled on top was beautifully presented. I started by tasting the soup, which was light yet packed with umami flavor. The back fat added richness without being overpowering. The thin noodles were slightly firm, which paired well with the soup. After researching later, I found out that despite the back fat, the soup base in Kyoto is actually chicken broth. The combination of back fat and clear soup made sense. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In a back alley in Kyoto Omiya, there is a rumored ramen shop. The Gion branch is only open for 3 hours at night, and the Omiya branch is only open for 2 hours at lunchtime. The hurdle is super high! Ramen Shoyu Abura (regular) 800 yen, only available in special, large, or half sizes. The soup is a tonkotsu shoyu with back fat, with a mild flavor and a hint of sweetness in the aftertaste. Perfect for finishing off a night of drinking. The straight noodles have a great texture, and the chashu and menma are soft and carefully prepared. The red chili pepper adds color but isn't too spicy. It was delicious. It's been a while since I've finished a bowl of soup and felt so warm and satisfied.

I had been wanting to visit this place for a while, so I arrived a little before opening. The owner greeted me and invited me in. It's a small shop with only 6 seats at the counter, and it was already full with two other customers. I ordered the regular ramen, which had a mild soup with floating back fat. The broth had a subtle sweetness and a hint of acidity. The roasted pork slices were thick and tender, and the bamboo shoots were well-prepared. The noodles were firm and had a good texture. Before I knew it, I had finished the soup. It was a delicious meal.
