During weekdays at lunchtime, it was bustling. The atmosphere was relaxing, perfect for families with children to unwind. The dishes were made with gentle, healthy ingredients and were very delicious. I'm curious about their takeout options and I'm already thinking about trying their desserts next time.

Lunch outing with three generations, a family of three, from Kyoto city to Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus via local roads took 82 minutes. Located on the ground floor of a commercial facility across the campus is this restaurant. Arrived 15 minutes before opening time, being the first in line. Welcomed by the staff and allowed to choose a table other than the reserved ones. Opted for a bright table near the front, spacious and no steps making it accessible for strollers or wheelchairs. The interior was long and open, with wide aisles and no obstacles. Various handmade goods were displayed near the entrance, raising excitement. A sister store of the famous "BONO cafe", known for using locally sourced vegetables and ingredients. Ordered the "satono meal" for three, choosing from options like chicken with yuzu-flavored daikon sauce, salmon and winter vegetable gratin, and simmered yellowtail with seasonal vegetables. All dishes were homemade with fresh local vegetables promoting health. Finished with matcha muffin, Japanese-style parfait, and satono blend coffee. The cafe was always bustling with customers, and both the kitchen and waitstaff were busy. However, there were some disappointments like slightly melted ice cream and lukewarm coffee, as well as tables not being properly cleaned from the previous day. If revisiting, BONO cafe might be a better choice.

On January 8th, I visited the restaurant with my family after shopping. The owner, who is from Ibaraki City, opened this natural food cafe with the wish of wanting people to know more about fresh and delicious local ingredients. They offer seasonal menus that are locally sourced and emphasize on using ingredients from the Ibaraki City's contract farmers. They also sell locally sourced vegetables delivered directly from the farms. In addition to dining in, they have take-out options, allowing customers to enjoy their meals at the nearby Iwakura Park.
We arrived around noon. At the entrance, we sanitized our hands with alcohol, and then a staff member guided us to our seats. Cold water and hand towels were self-service, available for use at your convenience. After ordering at the counter, we paid the bill. Payment can be made in cash or through PayPay. Once paid, we received a number tag, returned to our seats, and the staff brought the dishes to us when they were ready. Used hand towels and empty cups were returned at the counter when leaving.
I ordered the "Satono Gohan" set, which includes a main dish, two rice balls, two side dishes, pickled vegetables, and miso soup. I chose the main dish of hand-kneaded hamburger made with domestic meat. The hand-kneaded hamburger had a nice texture and paired well with the homemade sauce. It was more filling than it appeared. The side vegetables were broccoli and pumpkin, lightly seasoned but satisfying. The rice balls were made with Kinuhikari premium rice, soft and fluffy, with a delicious "Hisago Nori" seaweed wrapping. The side dishes of lotus root and hijiki simmered with Ibaraki-grown vegetables and turnip pickles were tasty, highlighting the natural flavors. The pickled vegetables with plum accent were also delicious. The miso soup contained Kaga-style wheat gluten from the long-established shop "Fumuroya," simple in ingredients but flavorful in broth.
The restaurant had a calm atmosphere, allowing for a relaxed dining experience. I would like to visit again to try their seasonal menu using fresh ingredients. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! ♥️

I used the lunch menu. The rice balls made me nostalgic. The main dishes included fried chicken, hamburger, and chicken. There were also various curry options. The interior of the restaurant was stylish and spacious, with handmade items and baked goods for sale, creating a relaxing atmosphere.

I finally went to the restaurant I wanted to visit on July 30, 2022. It turned out to be a cafe inside a supermarket, which I didn't realize. I ordered the "Shizuoka-caught bonito with homemade salt koji grill and seasonal vegetables" at the counter. As a fish lover, I also added a cafe latte. I had to wait for about 10 minutes because there were many customers before me. When the food arrived, the rice balls were small, but there was a generous amount of side dishes, which was fine with me. The miso soup was quite hot but had a gentle flavor, with cucumber pickles, spicy eggplant, and Inca-style potatoes in curry stir-fry. The bonito with salt koji grill was delicious with a subtle saltiness and a satisfying umami flavor. I felt like I needed more rice, but I managed to finish everything by alternating between bites. The taste was typical of the Bonocafe chain. After the meal, I enjoyed a hot cafe latte and ended up buying some vegetables from the supermarket because they looked fresh and of good quality. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch experience. Total cost for the Shizuoka-caught bonito dish and cafe latte was 1518 yen.

I went to lunch! Even though it's close by, I finally made it here ☺︎ The interior of the restaurant is stylish (*´-`) They also sell miscellaneous goods and rice near the entrance, which is fun to look at ✳︎ After some deliberation, I decided on the speckled muniere with lemon mustard for lunch! I also had Japanese red tea as my drink ☺︎ The muniere was refreshing with a good kick of mustard ✳︎ The onigiri was cute, and the side dishes and miso soup all had the delicious taste of fresh vegetables - everything was exquisite! If they served this for breakfast every day, it would be the best... haha The Japanese red tea was not bitter, but rather refreshing and tasty ☺︎ For dessert, I ordered the tofu cheesecake (silk)! It was much lighter than a regular Western-style cheesecake! Personally, I'm not a fan of overly sweet things, but this cheesecake was amazing to me (^_^*) I liked it more than a regular cheesecake! The accompanying black honey was not too sweet, and it complemented the richness of the tofu perfectly ✳︎ The ordering process was at the register, and it was mostly self-service, but it was a relaxed atmosphere ☺️

I had some business to attend to at Ritsumeikan University, so I had a meeting here in the morning and then a lecture at Ritsumeikan in the afternoon. Since I'm not a student, I can't use the campus cafeteria, so this place is perfect for me. I've been here once before. I invited a friend along this time, and the three of us had a great meal together! I like the relaxed atmosphere where we can have a good chat. Thank you for the meal today as well.

Today, I had a meeting at Ritsumeikan University and squeezed in some other meetings as well. I had a passionate conversation with an acquaintance I recently met. This restaurant serves dishes made with lots of local vegetables, and you also serve yourself when it comes to water and getting your order. The onigiri (rice balls) are also in cute shapes! Thank you for the meal.

I had to visit again for some business. I ordered the rice ball set meal with dessert. The amount of the rice ball set meal was just right for me. The soybean side dish was unexpectedly pickled, but delicious. I want to try making it at home. I also enjoyed the broccoli with sweet miso sauce. The rice balls were soft and fluffy. The dessert was a chocolate cake. The combination with cream made the bitterness of the chocolate slightly milder. The interior of the restaurant uses a lot of wood, and the tableware used is also lovely. Farm tools are used as stylish decorations. They also sell tableware, locally grown vegetables, and handmade items at the storefront.

Cafe Satono is a spacious cafe on the first floor of the building where Izumiya is located, across from Ritsumeikan University at JR Ibaraki Minami. The concept is to use locally sourced ingredients to create healthy menu options, with their popular lunch being the onigiri set. I arrived around 3 PM after the lunch rush, and the place was about half empty. They offer an Afternoon Tea Set for 1100 yen (with free drink refills!). I was interested in their limited menu starting from 2 PM, so I chose a seat and then went to the counter to pay upfront. Self-service water is available in the center back. After about 5 minutes, a dessert plate arrived, which was so cute! It had around 8 different types of small sweets, each made with ingredients sourced from Ibaraki. I enjoyed them with a blend coffee. The sesame stick, caramel mixed rice cracker, and chocolate were especially delicious. It's nice that the drinks are free-flowing and the sweets are at room temperature, so you can take your time savoring them. For the second drink onwards, just take the blue paper given to you to the counter to get your drink. The paper is your free refill ticket. The back of the shop has long sofas that are comfortable to sit on. The restroom was also stylish and lovely.

There is a restaurant located on the first floor of the building across from Ritsumeikan University Ibaraki Campus. Parking is free for 2 hours with a meal purchase. After being seated, you order at the register and also help yourself to water and wet towels. We visited with 3 adults and a 3-year-old child. We ordered 3 individual dishes since there were 3 different main options available: Japanese chicken with yuzu salt sauce, Japanese-style hand-kneaded hamburger steak with mushroom sauce, and silver hirasu fish with plum sauce and seasonal vegetables. The food was very delicious, but the portion sizes were a bit small. It wasn't enough for the men. The restaurant has a warm wooden interior and the staff were friendly. I would like to visit again for dessert! (♡´▽`♡)

I went to have lunch at the seasonal meal cafe, satono.
☆satono meal ¥1188
- Grilled silver hirasu with plum sauce, seasonal vegetables
- 2 rice balls
- 2 side dishes
- Pickled vegetables
- Miso soup
It's a cute rice ball lunch set that is well-suited for women. It feels more like a breakfast than a lunch. I enjoyed the rice ball lunch. Thank you for the meal.

The tofu-flavored rice and the tofu cheesecake were delicious. The cheesecake looked like tofu but was actually moist and tasty. The dishes were served in unique and cute containers. You pay at the register before taking a seat, and return your dishes to the counter when finished. The store also sells local specialty products and handmade items. The decor and restroom were natural and lovely. The restaurant is located next to Daily Canart Izumiya, with parking available. It is within walking distance from JR Ibaraki-shi Station, and easy to find if you are heading towards Ritsumeikan University.

I had "SATONO Gohan" which is named after the restaurant. For the main dish, you can choose from the following three options:
- Grilled Japanese chicken with green perilla mayonnaise sauce
- Homemade hamburger steak with grated onion sauce
- Silver whiting with plum sauce and seasonal vegetables on the side
The meal also includes seasonal side dishes, homemade pickles, miso soup, and two rice balls, all served on a wooden plate. It costs 1,188 yen including tax. The portions are small, making it perfect for women or those with small appetites. However, the cost performance is not very high. I chose the silver whiting, and it was delicious. The rice balls were also sweet and tasty. The quantity is a bit too small for my liking though (laughs). Just like the trend of Kyoto-style obanzai restaurants, this place seemed to be doing well too.
Other lunch menu options include:
- Okinawa-inspired taco rice (seasonal limited edition) for 990 yen
- Keema curry that changes flavor depending on the season (with salad) for 990 yen
- Tofu rice bowl with dashi-flavored tofu (with miso soup) for 935 yen
As it is a cafe, they also offer a variety of drinks. It's a great place for women to enjoy a healthy lunch while chatting.

There is a shop in a complex facility. When using the facility, you can get a discount on parking. You can choose the main dish, and the fried chicken was delicious. However, it was very disappointing that there was no filling in the rice ball.

Self-service. That's nice. The shop is very clean and has a relaxed atmosphere. The chicken and konjac teritama bowl was a bit bland for my taste. The tofu cheesecake with matcha and ginger on top was delicious, especially with black honey on it! A bit on the pricey side though...

I was drawn to an onigiri place on Instagram and decided to visit. The location is on the first floor of a facility across from Ritsumeikan University in Ibaraki City. There is a parking lot in the facility building, and with orders of 500 yen or more, you can use it for 2 hours. Various local products from Ibaraki City are sold at the entrance of the store. I had decided on onigiri, but the curry inside the store smells really good... it's tempting. First, I was guided to my seat by the staff, and then I placed my order and paid at the register counter. There is a water station in the center of the store for self-service. I ordered the "satono gohan" set, 2 onigiri, miso soup, side dishes, pickles, and a choice of 3 mains including grilled and fried domestic chicken with new onion sauce, a drink, and dessert for 1683 yen. By the way, a la carte: 1080 yen, with drink 1280 yen, with dessert and drink 1530 yen... The drink was orange juice and the dessert was "Fushimiya" cheesecake from Ibaraki City. Silk! I bought it a few years ago from a mobile vendor and have been a fan ever since, so whenever there is a department store event, I buy it. After a while, the "satono gohan" arrived! Oh, the onigiri looks delicious♡ First, I tried the miso soup with wheat gluten from Fumuroya! It's gentle and delicious. The onigiri was soft and gentle, so maybe a bit lacking in substance...? I prefer firmer onigiri... but the rice grains were delicious!!! The fried chicken with new onion sauce was really good!! The hijiki and beans were colorful and tasty. Overall, it was delicious. The rice was so delicious that I asked about buying rice, but they are not currently selling it.

After the three-day weekend on Tuesday at 11:50, there were about 10 customers in 4 groups ahead of me. The cafe looks cute at first glance, but due to the building structure, it also feels a bit plain (sorry). The interior is filled with women.
I ordered the "satono" meal for ¥1080, which comes with a choice of main dish (hamburger, fried chicken, gratin). I chose hamburger and fried chicken. I opted for the large portion, which comes with an extra onigiri. I paid at the register first. Water is self-service. Maybe the lack of staff is because of this system.
The meal looks very cute with a decorative onigiri! The miso soup container is really hot to touch. It seems like they didn't consider the heat when making it look cute. The hamburger and fried chicken have a gentle taste, and it feels healthy. It may be a bit lacking for a guy like me, but it could be good for a group of women. The interior of the cafe, despite being a cafe, feels a bit empty maybe due to the high ceiling. But as long as you're chatting, it shouldn't be a problem.笑

Before my job in Ibaraki, I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while for lunch. We went to a cute restaurant on the first floor of a beautiful building, where it's mostly self-service. The interior is natural and charming, with various knick-knacks for sale right at the entrance. For lunch, you can choose from 3 main dishes, 2 onigiri, 3 side dishes, and miso soup. I chose the hamburger, but everything was quite tasty. The dishes were small and cute. How do they cut and arrange these small cucumbers? The food had a cafe-like, natural and healthy vibe, perfect for women. The dessert was a tofu cheesecake, which was a unique choice and quite light in flavor. With dessert and a drink, the total cost was around 1600 yen. The place had a clean and fresh feel, and you could help yourself to water. It was the perfect spot for a girls' lunch and chat. Sorry for staying so long. One question though, I got distracted chatting and left my dishes on the table - was it a self-return system?

After playing in Iwakura Park, we went to a café. The atmosphere is woody and calm. They have child chairs available. The restroom is spacious and unisex. It might get crowded during lunchtime. You need to get your own water, wipes, and return dishes, so it might be a bit challenging for parents with babies. However, compared to other restaurants around Iwakura Park, it's not too busy, so it could be a good option. This information might be a bit outdated, so the situation could have changed due to COVID-19 measures.
