I visited this cafe located across from Yawata Minami High School ground in Hachiman Nishi Ward, Kitakyushu City for a leisurely tea time on a weekend afternoon. It is a cafe combined with a residence, and the atmosphere is enhanced by the Volkswagen parked outside (the owner's car). Since there were no reviews on Tabelog, I was a bit nervous on my way to the cafe, wondering what kind of place it would be. The interior of the cafe is quite small, mainly focusing on takeout, but they also offer eat-in options. I decided to have a chat with the owner while enjoying my order. The interior has a charming ambiance with a sense of style (please refer to the image of the interior atmosphere). I was torn between choices, but I ended up ordering a matcha latte and a cup of chocolate chip scone displayed by the register. The owner, with a serious expression, started preparing my order, including the drip coffee. While waiting, I noticed a few customers coming in for takeout coffee. Finally, I received my matcha latte ice and chocolate chip scone. The gradient of brown and green in the latte was vivid and eye-catching. Despite the drizzly weather on a Sunday afternoon, the color contrast of the latte was refreshing. The owner recommended enjoying the flavors separately by not stirring at first, and I found it delightful as he suggested. While sipping the latte, I chatted with the owner, who shared that the cafe is run by him and his wife, but due to various reasons, he now manages it on weekends while working another job on weekdays. He seems to have a strong dedication to lattes and aims to establish the cafe as a "latte-centered" establishment. I was impressed by his firm beliefs, despite his modern appearance. The cafe has been operating for four years in the area and seems to be cherished by its customers. I love relaxing in cafes where I can enjoy a delicious latte without any pretense, and I felt like I discovered a great spot nearby. After finishing my matcha latte ice, I thanked the owner and expressed my intention to visit again. Oh, I forgot to eat the chocolate chip scone, I'll enjoy it while driving home.
