We asked for a favor and had 10 people in our group. Since we arrived at 10 PM, the staff informed us that the menu was limited. We ordered a mixed skewer platter and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The cheese-topped grilled rice balls were especially tasty. The amount and strength of the shochu served seemed excessive, but overall we were very satisfied.

Located just a 3-minute walk from JR Yahata Station, the yakitori restaurant "Charcoal Grilled Yakitori Hachihachiman Station Front Main Store" celebrated its 3rd anniversary. The restaurant is situated behind the Yahata Station Koban on a side street, with a red sign that stands out. Inside, there are about 8 counter seats on the left and 3 tables for 4 people each on the right. On the day of my visit (5/22), they were having a special anniversary event offering half-price beer and cocktails. I started with a toast of draft beer and "Ume Oroshi Hiya Yakko," a generous dish with shiso, daikon, grated plum, and chilled tofu. It's a refreshing appetizer perfect for the upcoming hot summer season. From the skewered menu, I ordered "Kawa (Tare)," "Negima (Salt)," "Bara (Salt)," "Bonjiri (Salt)," and "Tsukune." The variety of original skewers and the option to choose between salt and sauce flavors were delightful. The grilled chicken skewers prepared by Manager Hattori's fire performance were fantastic. I also tried the "Jidori Tataki" from the specialty menu, which had a great texture, smoky flavor from searing, and a melt-in-your-mouth sashimi-like part. It was amazing, especially when paired with yuzu pepper. The restaurant also offers other dishes like "Prosciutto Caesar Salad," "Potato Fries," and "Kobe-style Deep-fried Takoyaki," making the dining experience enjoyable. To top it off, I had my first taste of watermelon this year. I highly recommend visiting "Torihachi Hachiman Station Front Main Store" if you're craving yakitori near Yahata Station.
