Located at the northern tip of the Shakotan Peninsula that juts out into the Sea of Japan, Yoichi Town is known as the town of sea, fruits, whiskey, and wine. One place I have always wanted to visit is the popular tourist orchard where freshly baked apple pie is a hit! "Yamamoto Tourist Orchard" offers various fruit picking experiences depending on the season. It is situated away from the national road that runs along the coast of Yoichi, up towards the mountains. The location overlooks the sea from a hill, a bit far from the town center. The main attraction here is fruit picking, but there is also a dining area where you can enjoy dishes like Genghis Khan. There are chairs and tables inside the reception building, but there is also a designated area outdoors in the orchard where you can eat. Eating Genghis Khan outdoors is always delicious! On the day of my visit, there were families enjoying themselves as well. Another popular item here is the jams, juices, and most importantly, the homemade apple pie made with apples harvested from this orchard. Yoichi is famous for the "Yamamoto Tourist Orchard Apple Pie"! It is sold at the Space Apple Yoichi (Yoichi Michi no Eki) and inside JR Yoichi Station, but I really wanted to try the freshly baked one here. After enjoying fruit picking, I finally tried it. Just after they sold out, I was told that they were currently baking and it would be ready in about 5 minutes. I got to enjoy the freshly baked pie! The homemade apple pie made with apples from this orchard is made mainly with "Fuji apples". The pie crust looks thick, but it is actually thin and delicate, crispy and buttery, yet juicy. The apple slices inside are big and the apple pie is warm and melts in your mouth. The Fuji apples are sweet with a hint of tartness. The freshly baked pie was incredibly delicious! Fruit picking at the orchard costs 1,100 yen per adult for all-you-can-eat fruit, and 1,630 yen per adult for fruit picking with a ticket to take home up to 2 kilograms of fruit. They provide fruit knives and scissors, and there are hand washing facilities and restrooms in the orchard. It is recommended to bring hand towels or towels. The fruits you pick to take home are weighed at the end, and if you exceed 2 kilograms, there is an additional charge. During my visit in September, there were various grapes, Fuji and Red Delicious apples, as well as other types of apples and pears, including some I had never seen before. There were also plums ready for picking. I love fruits, so this place felt like heaven to me. Each season brings different fruits to the orchard. Autumn is the best time to visit when the fruits are ripe! It was so much fun picking and eating the fruits! Climbing up ladders to reach pears and apples high up on the trees, and wandering around looking for the perfect fruit felt like a little adventure. The orchard is very spacious. Picking ripe fruits from trees with low-hanging branches and walking under them to find delicious fruits is quite an enjoyable experience! Fruit picking ===========
