Category: [Tokyo] Yakitori and Yakiton [Tokyo] Izakaya Lately, I've been getting into the trend of "cheap izakaya" for casual drinking. This time, I decided to try out a restaurant recommended by a friend on social media. The restaurant is called Shinjidai Shibuya Dogenzaka Store, and it has the atmosphere of a popular izakaya that has been popping up more and more since the start of the pandemic. However, despite the atmosphere, the prices are surprisingly not that of a typical popular izakaya. Recently, there are more and more places where you can drink really cheaply, and this restaurant is no exception. The key to enjoying a place like this is to not order anything other than the special discounted items for attracting customers. However, feeling a bit guilty, I ended up ordering a little more. I think that's just the right amount. Salted cabbage with sauce - 250 yen (excluding tax) Mega highball (1 liter) - 190 yen (excluding tax) Dorayaki - 480 yen (excluding tax) The meat has a good chew to it, which goes well with drinks. New era fried chicken (garlic soy sauce) - 550 yen (excluding tax) Skewer large pyramid - 1050 yen (excluding tax) The chicken wings taste like the ones from Nagoya but sweeter. It's a good appetizer, but it's a bit too sweet, making it hard to eat a lot. Chinese-style red chicken liver sashimi - 380 yen (excluding tax) Thick sashimi with seaweed - 280 yen (excluding tax) If the chicken wings weren't so sweet, I could just keep drinking with these dishes alone. But maybe they're sweet to prevent that. Either way, it seems like a great place for a second round and beyond. With already three stores in prime locations in Shibuya, I wonder if they will continue to expand.

This is an izakaya located on Dogenzaka. The restaurant is a chain with two other branches around Shibuya Station. The exterior has glass doors, allowing a view of the inside, with a retro-style neon sign. Inside, there are a few counter seats facing the kitchen, but mostly table seating with simple chairs. It's a lively atmosphere with many young people due to its location in Shibuya. Smoking is allowed, but there is a smoking room at the back, and smoking is not permitted in the dining area. The specialty here is the "denkushi" (chicken skin skewers), which can be ordered individually or in sets of 10 or 21, piled high for a fun presentation. The menu mainly features chicken dishes, all priced under 500 yen. Prices are displayed without tax, with a 10% service charge added. Additionally, there is a seating charge of 300 yen + tax + service charge, but a complimentary appetizer is provided. While the food prices are a bit high, the drinks are reasonably priced. Reviews show prices including tax and service charge per item. I had: - Draft beer (228 yen): A good deal even with service charge included. - Otoshi (360 yen): Lotus root and chicken with plum seasoning, decent flavor. - Medium pyramid skewers (600 yen): Crispy and well-seasoned, a bit slow to arrive. - Quail egg soy sauce marinade (300 yen): Lightly seasoned quail eggs with green onions, enjoyable. - Parinko cheese (420 yen): Spring roll-like cheese snack, easy to eat. - Nori 10x isobeage (420 yen): Crispy isobeage with extra seaweed, standard but tasty. - Sichuan-style sand liver (456 yen): Sliced sand liver with Sichuan pepper sauce, mildly spicy and numbing. - Fried tofu with bonito flakes (420 yen): Tasty but difficult to eat without chopsticks, seems cost-cutting. - Freshly squeezed lemon sour (468 yen): A bit pricey due to real lemon, standard amount of shochu. - Mega old-fashioned punch lemon sour (696 yen): Double the price for triple the drink, good value. The interior is hot, possibly to save on electricity, with a 2-hour seating limit. It's a good place for cheap drinks and snacks, especially for a casual night out.

This is a chicken skewer izakaya located at the entrance of Dogenzaka in Shibuya. It is a chain restaurant that is widely spread in the Kanto Chubu area, offering quite affordable menu options. Despite it being midnight, the place was brightly lit and bustling with people, tempting passersby with its skewers. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was vibrant, reflecting the youthful energy of Shibuya. Even at the time when the date changed, the place was packed and there was a waiting list, showing how popular it was. I don't mind the lively and noisy vibe of Shibuya, so I enjoyed the experience. They charge a fee of 300 yen and I started with a ginger ale. The highly recommended dish is the "Tsutsumi" chicken skin skewer, priced at 50 yen per stick, allowing you to order a pyramid challenge of mountain-like proportions. I tried ordering 5 sticks and they had a crispy yet chewy texture with a sweet and savory flavor. Unlike the chicken skin skewers in Fukuoka, these were slightly fried, giving them a different taste. I personally like them a lot and could easily devour about 10 sticks. The "Tsutsumi thigh skewer" also had a strong salt and pepper flavor, making it different from regular yakitori. You can enjoy affordable skewers here, as well as dishes like oden and yukke, all at reasonable prices. It's no wonder that it's loved by young people.

In Shibuya, if you're looking for a budget-friendly izakaya that's open until 5 am, then Shinjidai is the place to go! You have to try their signature skewers - they even serve them in a tower if you order a lot, which looks amazing! Here are the items we ordered: - Tower of skewers (large pyramid) ¥1,050 - Highball ¥290 - Coca-Cola ¥290 - Oolong tea ¥290 Restaurant details: Shinjidai Shibuya-Dōgenzaka branch 03-6452-5582 2-28-5 Dōgenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo https://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1303/A130301/13276025/ #Shibuya #ShibuyaGourmet #ShibuyaIzakaya #ShibuyaDinner #Shinjidai #Skewers #ShibuyaIzakayaTour #Tokyo #TokyoGourmet #Shibuya #ShibuyaGourmet

I happened to enter a restaurant and luckily found an empty seat right away. The menu surprised me with beer for 190 yen, highball for 150 yen, and a seating fee of 300 yen. I ordered the signature skewers, my favorite "drooling chicken," spicy sand liver, red chicken liver sashimi, doteni (pork offal stew), and grilled pork tongue with green onions. The skewers tasted like some kind of snack I've had before. I enjoyed the "drooling chicken," spicy sand liver, and liver sashimi. The drooling chicken was spicy and went perfectly with the beer. The sand liver was easy to eat and had a great numbing sensation from the Sichuan pepper. The liver sashimi was small but had a strong liver flavor. The doteni was a bit too sweet, but the thinly sliced pork tongue with green onions was delicious and I couldn't stop eating. I will definitely come back. I love mountain jelly, but there was too much mayonnaise on it. I wish they served it separately. The Taiwanese tofu was average. The curry skewer was basically curry sauce on top of a pork cutlet skewer with Fukujinzuke. I forgot to order the chicken skin with ponzu sauce. The beer was Sapporo Black Label, and the highball seemed to be made with Dewar's whiskey. It was strong and reminded me of a highball at a cheap izakaya. I like that you can order your favorite dishes and enjoy a casual dining experience at an affordable price.

On the night of May 7, 2023, I visited for the first time ■ Visit motivation I often hear that the skewers are delicious, so I became interested and decided to try it out! [Overall evaluation] ・ The signature menu "Densuki" has a sweet and savory flavor with oil and fat ・ A universal appeal with a teppan vector that everyone will enjoy ・ The Densuki skewers were not warm, perhaps due to the time of day ・ The liver sashimi was average ・ Prices are displayed before tax, with a seating fee of 300 yen and a service charge of 10% added, plus a 10% consumption tax ・ I thought the bill would be around 1,000 yen, but it was just under 1,500 yen, so I was a little surprised ・ The restaurant seems to emphasize the affordability of the Densuki skewers, but the billing system is a bit unfriendly ・ It's a place for young people who want to take photos of the Densuki pyramid and have a lively time ・ I don't think it's suitable for middle-aged men drinking alone ・ It might be best to take out just the Densuki skewers (warming them up at home for a drink is totally fine) ■ Breakdown of the bill - Prices displayed before tax ・ Seating fee 300 yen ・ Appetizer: dried daikon ・ Oolong tea 290 yen ・ Chinese-style red chicken liver sashimi 380 yen Seasoned with sesame oil, similar to Yukhoe ・ 5 Densuki skewers 250 yen With a sweet and savory sauce that tastes like oil from the world of Yamachan's chicken skin Service charge 10% Consumption tax 10% Total bill: 1,476 yen <Visit record> ■ Date and waiting situation ・ May 7, 2023, around 8:40 p.m. ・ No waiting to enter ・ Seated at counter seat number 6 ・ Meal time was about 20 minutes ■ Customer base: mostly groups of young people ■ Location: halfway up the slope of Dogenzaka ■ Shop situation ・ A popular izakaya ・ The female staff members are young and beautiful ■ Toilet ・ At the end on the left side. Separate for men and women ・ Men's urinal and Western-style toilet seat ・ The urinal is TOTO brand. The Western-style toilet seat is INAX brand ・ Water for handwashing is inside the stall ・ Hand soap and paper towels provided (May 8, 2023) Average rating 3.48, 9 reviews. 3.07 from MyReviewer, no reviews [Extra Edition] On the night of May 23, 2023, I bought 6 Densuki skewers for takeout at the Shibuya Station Mark City store for 324 yen. I warmed them up at home and enjoyed them moderately. Be careful not to overheat, as they can become tough. I waited outside the store for 15 minutes, but for me, takeout was the better option

Today, I tried the chicken skin skewers, which were surprisingly light and cost-effective. There was also a mysterious Brazilian sausage. The drinks may not be satisfying for those who drink alcohol. The space was a bit tight due to maximizing profits per square footage, making it difficult to find a place for belongings. However, the prices were cheap and reasonable.

I visited a new restaurant in my local area that I had been curious about. It was very crowded, probably because it was December 30th. I ordered a draft beer for 190 yen and the restaurant's specialty dish, fried chicken skin skewers for 55 yen each. It took a while for the food to come out due to the crowd, but it was understandable since it was full at the end of the year. The beer had too much foam and the highball was a bit weak, but if you don't mind the noise, it's not bad. I shouldn't expect too much considering the highball was only 150 yen, but as a drink lover, I can be picky sometimes.

I had visited the Akihabara store before, but this was my first time at the Shibuya Dogenzaka store. Of course, the must-try item here is the "Denkushi" (1 skewer for 55 yen)! The crispy chicken skin with a chewy texture is addictive! It's amazing how they remove excess fat from the chicken skin, leaving plenty of collagen. The "Nikujyu Tsukimi Tsukune" is fluffy and delicious when freshly made. Breaking the chicken egg adds a rich flavor. The "Troublesome Potato Salad" allows you to mix the ingredients to your liking, so you can enjoy the fresh taste. The "Red Chicken Liver Sashimi" made with tender red chicken has a Chinese-style seasoning and melts in your mouth. The "Taiwanese Tofu" has a spicy sauce on top of tofu, making it perfect with beer. The "Dorayaki" is made to order by the staff and tastes great with yuzu pepper. The "Nori 10 Times Isobeage" uses a lot of seaweed, giving it a strong seaweed aroma. It's even better with mayonnaise. The staff is lively and attentive. I will definitely visit again!

This place offers a famous skewer for 50 yen, which tastes like Sapporo Black Label beer. The skewer is made of fried chicken skin with a sweet soy sauce glaze, and it tastes pretty good when sprinkled with table spices. It's cheap and tasty, reminiscent of a certain popular chain. If you don't mind the noisy atmosphere, it's worth a visit.

I saw a tweet from Senbero.net and decided to check out this place on October 5th. It's the second store along Dogenzaka in Shibuya, and even though I've seen the sign before, I've never been inside. It seems like they're really expanding. They opened at 5 pm, and when I arrived, it wasn't full yet but there were quite a lot of people. The staff were energetic and numerous, which was a bit overwhelming. There were also counter seats, and I was able to get a seat for one person easily, but it felt a bit cramped. We got a wet towel and a complimentary dish of mentaiko mayo pasta. I ordered a draft beer, and when it arrived, I also placed my food order. The kitchen area was packed with about 12-13 staff members, so the orders came out quickly. The chicken yukke arrived promptly, made with rare chicken breast. It was sweet and salty, and tasted great with the yukke sauce and egg yolk. The small beer glasses meant the drinks disappeared quickly. I had a punch lemon sour, two regular lemon sours, and a vice sour, but they were gone in no time due to the ice. The skewers were interesting, with crispy and occasionally chewy fried chicken skin that was delicious. The sweet and salty sauce had a unique taste that I found addictive. I realized it's a Nagoya-based restaurant, which explains the flavors. The spice on the table added a peppery heat that complemented the drinks. It was a fun experience, and I might revisit while the drinks are still cheap, but being in Shibuya might make it difficult.
