During my trip to Hokkaido, I stayed at Daiichi in Yoroigyu Onsen, where I had breakfast with milk from Yamamoto Ranch. The milk came in an old-fashioned milk bottle, which added a nostalgic touch. When I opened the lid, I found a white lump that looked like fresh cream. The owner of Yamamoto Ranch calls this fat globule the "angel's share" and recommends spreading it on bread like butter. I shook the bottle before opening it and found the milk to be rich and fresh, very delicious. On the way to Lake Mashu, I stopped by Yamamoto Ranch. The soft serve ice cream made from this milk was bound to be delicious, and it did not disappoint. I bought a cone from the shop, and it started melting right away, probably because it doesn't contain any additives. It had a strong milk flavor but was surprisingly light, so I could easily finish a large serving. The cone was crispy and delicious, apparently hand-baked. Priced at 520 yen, it's a bit on the expensive side, but considering the generous portion, the quality of the milk, and the cone, it's worth it. Eating it at the vast and nature-rich ranch made the taste even better. Yamamoto Ranch raises cows through rare natural grazing and uses organic feed, showing their dedication to dairy farming. I would love to support them and visit again, especially since they participate in Tokyo department store food exhibitions.

I went to the Soft Cream Event venue at Access Sapporo. I wanted to try two different soft creams, so I decided to buy them separately instead of getting a comparison set. I tried the soft cream from Yamamoto Farm. It was served in a handmade waffle cone. The soft cream itself, as shown in the photo, was made without any sugar or heavy cream, making it very easy to eat. It truly felt like a soft cream for adults. The slightly sweet taste of the hand-baked waffle cone complemented the soft cream very well. I enjoyed it very much!

It's light and a bit unsatisfying, but refreshing and you could eat as many as you want. It was 451 yen at the local product exhibition. Other farm soft serves were 350 yen, so it might be a bit expensive.

I am a self-proclaimed "milk critic" and I came across this milk at my favorite hot spring inn in Eastern Hokkaido, "Yoro Ushi Onsen Inn Daiichi." The breakfast buffet is wonderful, but the milk available for drinking in the morning is from this milk. The richness, sweetness, and deliciousness of this milk is truly noteworthy among the dairy products of Hokkaido, known as the "Dairy Kingdom." It is called "Yoro Ushi Pasture Milk." For those familiar with Hokkaido, you may know that it is not named after a specific cow breed, but after the town of Yoro Ushi in Nakashibetsu, Hokkaido. The milk from pasture-raised cows in Yoro Ushi is full of deliciousness. At one point, it was featured in the "Nikkei" newspaper for being a premium milk priced over 1,000 yen per liter, and it is worth every penny. I have tried various delicious milks in different parts of Hokkaido, but this one is the best. Milk may not be considered a "special occasion drink," but for those who haven't tried it, I highly recommend experiencing it at least once. Hokkaido truly is a treasure trove of delicious foods.

I went to Tobu Utsunomiya Department Store and checked out the 44th Autumn Hokkaido Product Exhibition event that was taking place. It was crowded with many people, as the Hokkaido Product Exhibition is quite popular. I bought soft serve ice cream at the Yamamoto Ranch booth. The texture of the soft serve was different, more like gelato. Yoro Beef Pasture Milk - ¥550, Soft Serve - ¥500

At the Tobu 8th floor event space in Ikebukuro, the "Sea Dawn Snow Melt Gourmet Hokkaido Exhibition" is being held from 4/25 to 5/9. After work at 17:40, I checked out the participating stores. The ramen shop Ichiba in Sapporo had a long line, so I gave up and headed to the soft serve ice cream booth by Yamamoto Ranch in Nakashibetsu Town. There were only 4 people in line for the soft serve. I quickly ordered the Pasture Milk Soft Serve for 490 yen. I chose a waffle cone and received my soft serve. The soft serve is made with pasture milk from a 180ml bottle that costs a whopping 550 yen, without any additives or cream, resulting in a smooth, lightly sweet, and refreshing taste. It was delicious.

I ate at the Hokkaido local products exhibition. Asparagus parfait for 900 yen. The soft serve ice cream was delicious, and the asparagus ice cream balls were also tasty. The asparagus was boiled, which I thought might not be necessary, but Hokkaido asparagus is delicious.

Today, I had the opportunity to try the milk produced at this farm. This milk is rich and creamy, unlike any other milk I have seen before. The taste is also very rich, and I couldn't help but finish it all in one go. When I opened the milk cap, I noticed that some of the cream stuck to the lid, showing just how rich it really is.

I came back to Ikebukuro. By the way, there is a Hokkaido exhibition at Tobu Department Store. It's on the 8th floor event space, let's go check it out. There are a lot of people. Hokkaido has lots of delicious food. I tried the soft serve ice cream from Yamamoto Farm in a cup. There is an eat-in space inside the event area, so I ate it there. The flavor was really rich.

My hometown is Sapporo, but I usually live in Tokyo, so I often crave soft serve ice cream that really tastes like milk. Whenever there is a Hokkaido product exhibition, I make sure to go and enjoy some soft serve ice cream. I visited a shop at the "Great Hokkaido Exhibition" at Isetan Tachikawa store, where they were serving simple soft serve ice cream, as well as with toppings like haskap sauce, maple syrup, and olive oil, and even affogato. This time, I just wanted to savor the soft serve ice cream, so I ordered it in a cup without any toppings. The cup I received felt quite heavy. I started by enjoying the soft serve ice cream from the top... the tip of the cone, here I go! Milky!! It was like a soft, fluffy version of condensed milk, with a subtle yet firm sweetness and a prominent milk fragrance. It tasted like a pasture when the sweetness subsided. It was light and refreshing, to the point where you could almost feel the freshness. This flavor can only be achieved with high-quality milk. As I observed the soft serve ice cream machine, I realized that even though it was a special event, they were using Calpis. Impressive! Amazing! Delicious! At first, I thought it was a bit hard for Calpis, but as some time passed, the true power of Calpis seemed to be fully unleashed, and when I put it in my mouth and waited for a moment, it softly disappeared, allowing me to savor its delicate texture. It was an incredibly delicious soft serve ice cream that I cannot easily find in Tokyo. Thank you for the meal!

I heard rumors that Yoroppa Milk is delicious, so I bought some at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido. I wanted to compare it with non-homogenized milk, so I bought various kinds and drank them every day. This one was by far the richest! Personally, I prefer milk that is a bit lighter and smoother, but if you want to experience the richness, definitely try it! It tasted like butter turned into milk! It was just so rich and satisfying. It completely outshines the milk I usually drink. It has a taste like heavy cream, and there was actually a chunk of cream on the lid that I ate and it was delicious! I wish they sold just the cream part separately (lol). The price is relatively high, with a small milk bottle costing around 400 yen per bottle. But it's so rich that it's understandable.

Yokohama Takashimaya 18th Annual Taste of the North: Great Hokkaido Exhibition '21/4/7 (Wed) - 4/19 (Mon) [Menu] Soft Serve Ice Cream 491 yen. I chose a cup for my dessert after having ramen. This time, I received a bonus "one more scoop" of soft serve ice cream by presenting a coupon from the Takashimaya app. In addition to soft serve ice cream, they also had milk and bread on display. It might be difficult to carry home this large bottle of milk though! ===========

At Meitetsu's Hokkaido Product Fair, Soft Cream Marche was exhibited, and among them, Yamamoto Farm also participated in the event. I will now share my thoughts after trying three different flavors. In the past, reviews of Yamamoto Farm's soft serve mentioned a buttery scent and being a matter of personal preference, but this time it had a completely different scent of grass. Perhaps it was due to the quality of milk changing with the season, as this time it had a summer milk scent. Anyway, here is my review of the three flavors I tried:
☆ Soft Serve 3-Flavor Comparison 1296 yen
☆ Ootomo Cheese Factory: It had a gentle milk sweetness in both scent and taste, and personally, it had the most milk flavor among the three. In terms of taste, it was similar to Yamamoto Farm's soft serve, with a refreshing texture similar to milk sherbet with a light mouthfeel.
☆ Unomoku Farm: This soft serve had the strongest milk sweetness among the three, with a creamy and rich taste due to its fluffy texture. However, it was disappointing that it lacked a distinct scent. The overrun was the best.
☆ Yoro Beef Yamamoto Farm: This soft serve had the strongest scent among the three, with a unique grassy scent that personally I did not prefer. The quality of milk seemed different from before, which affected the scent experience. In terms of taste, it was similar to Ootomo Cheese Factory, with a refreshing texture similar to milk sherbet with a light mouthfeel.
When comparing these three flavors, you can enjoy the unique characteristics of each farm's soft serve. However, personally, when it comes to Hokkaido soft serve, I feel that it lacks the aroma I seek in farm soft serve based on my past experiences. Nonetheless, I can't help but think of trying it again when they exhibit new flavors. Thank you for the meal. As someone who continues to love soft serve, I will continue to explore new options (laughs).
