JR Tennoji Station is a complex building located directly above it, called Tennoji Mio. The 4th floor of the Plaza building and the 10th and 11th floors of the main building at the concourse of Tennoji Station have a restaurant area, with the 10th floor featuring slightly more casual dining options. In the western part of the 10th floor, amidst the casual atmosphere, this cafe exudes a sense of luxury. Although it may seem intimidating with the sophisticated feel of the Madams relaxing inside, I decided to visit during lunchtime. This cafe was established in 1961 in Namba, Osaka, and has around 60 stores in the Kansai region, including outlets in Abeno and Abeno Harukas. The semi-open interior has about 60 spacious table seats, with a designated smoking area provided. The interior design, including fixtures and lighting, reflects a luxurious and refined British style. The lunch menu includes sandwiches, curry, gratin, and coffee or tea sets, with a total of 7 options. Being a sandwich enthusiast, I ordered the Mixed Sandwich set (1,100 yen). Cutlery, salt, pepper, and paper napkins were promptly provided upon ordering, reminiscent of a hotel lounge style service. The sandwich and coffee arrived shortly after. The sandwiches, Egg Salad and Potato, were served on a white plate with a mini salad in the center. The sandwiches had a traditional British style with the crusts cut off. The Egg Salad sandwich had tomatoes, while the Potato sandwich had ham. The flavors were mild and suitable for everyone. The coffee had a slight acidity and rich taste, with the option for a refill, which was a nice touch. The coffee cups also added to the upscale feel. Despite the elegant atmosphere of the cafe, on this particular day, there was only one staff member serving the spacious area. Although the staff was efficient in taking orders, serving, and cashier duties, the constant running around detracted from the overall elegance of the experience.
