The store where children used to come when they were young. Those were the days when family gatherings were still a thing... It may have been more than 20 years since then. On a warm Saturday, feeling extremely bored, I decided to go for a walk. The turning point was this store. Although it's in my town, Toyonaka City, there are many stores that I don't know. You don't notice them when driving, but walking brings fresh discoveries. I found a few small stores on this day. I'll visit them sometime. Now, reminiscing about the old days at Chateraise fills me with happiness. The children were small, and I was young too. On this day, I bought the following three items: Double Choux Cream: 108 yen, Biscuit Waffle Sweet: 97 yen, Oven-baked Cheese Manju: 108 yen. I had to buy two of each to avoid disputes at home. The deliciousness of the Double Choux is consistent. Nowadays, convenience store sweets have improved and are competing. It's true that they are smaller. But at 108 yen, Chateraise is winning the battle. I had the waffle and cheese manju for breakfast. They had a crispy and light texture with a hint of chocolate flavor. The slightly sweet taste is nice. The cheese manju is not losing either. It's just a cheesecake in the shape of a manju. Delicious! Affordable and delicious Chateraise. No wonder their performance is growing despite inflation and the pandemic. Thank you for the meal.

Ordered item... Chef supervised cream puff for 160 yen. The dish... I was attracted by the chef's supervision and decided to buy it. It's a cream puff with a crispy exterior and plenty of custard cream inside. Good value for money. It would have been even better if it had whipped cream, but I'm satisfied with this price. [Sorachiku] What is the origin of the name "Chateraise"? It is a coined term combining the French words "chateau" meaning "castle" and "raisin" meaning "grape", and it means "grape castle".

I received a Belgian chocolate bousse. It costs 108 yen each. It uses eggs from contract farms and is baked to a fluffy and soft texture with high temperature for a short time. It is filled with cream made with Belgian sweet chocolate chips. It doesn't have as strong of a chocolate taste as you might imagine from its appearance and description. Since it's a bousse, it has a light texture that is easy to eat. The price is reasonable and easy to enjoy.

The companion wanted to stop by Lawson, so I took the opportunity to visit the neighboring Chateraise. The taiyaki ice cream with sweet potato flavor had sweet potato paste inside, and there was also a little bit of sweet potato in the vanilla ice cream. I also bought a frozen low-carb cream puff from the same series, but I didn't realize it was frozen. I ended up eating it while it was still frozen after leaving it at room temperature for about 7 hours. This was a new discovery for me. I had thought that the sweets here were a bit too sweet for my taste, but eating the frozen cream puff without thawing it made it taste less sweet and just right. I would like to purchase this series again.

I purchased a unique dorayaki from Shatoreze, a nationwide chain known for its western-style sweets. This dorayaki is made with Hokkaido butter cream and homemade red bean paste. The saltiness of the butter is prominent, balanced by the sweetness of the red bean paste, but the saltiness may be a bit overpowering. The texture of the red bean paste could also be improved. Overall, I would rate it 3.1 out of 5 stars.

I visited Shatoreze after seeing a strawberry crepe dessert on TV. It was crowded, probably due to the TV influence. I purchased the following items: Strawberry Crepe Dessert - 550 yen (excluding tax) and Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc - 500 yen (excluding tax). I always thought Shatoreze was cheaper, but the prices were similar to regular cake shops. I quickly went home and tried the strawberry crepe dessert. Hmm, it was not what I expected. The crepe was too thick and hard, and the sponge was a bit dry. Then I tried the Mont Blanc I bought. Oh, this was delicious! It had a strong chestnut flavor and was not too sweet. The moist texture was also good. The cake I was looking for was honestly disappointing, but the Mont Blanc was delicious! However, at this price... Thank you for the meal!

I still love the double cream choux cream sole, but I was surprised to see many other new products available. The line at the register is always long, when did it become so popular? (laughs) After 25 years, it's natural I guess. Keep making good products that stay true to the past and new ones that are gaining popularity, focusing on affordability and additives.

Near Umeka Kindergarten in Toyonaka, there is a Western-style confectionery shop that offers only takeout. The interior is a bit old-fashioned, but the customer service is good. I purchased a Double Choux Cream for 108 yen this time. It contains custard and whipped cream, and while the cream was delicious, the pastry itself was average for the price.

The staff was kind, but I would be happy if I could pay for the cake separately. Everything else was great.

Double cream puff 108 yen
Anno sweet potato and Naruto sweet potato bomb 280 yen (limited time only)
I love the cake shop Chateraise because they offer delicious cakes at affordable prices with a wide variety of options. The double cream puff has both whipped cream and custard cream inside, making it a favorite for those who love cream. It has just the right amount of sweetness and size, and at 108 yen, it's something I crave regularly. As for the Anno sweet potato and Naruto sweet potato bomb, it consists of layers of Anno sweet potato and Naruto sweet potato mousse, chocolate and matcha sponge, with Anno sweet potato cream on top like Mont Blanc. It's incredibly delicious. This seems to be a seasonal product for autumn, so it may not be available now. The combination of Anno sweet potato, Naruto sweet potato, matcha, and chocolate makes it the ultimate cake for women. Recently, Chateraise has also introduced low-sugar products, which could be a good option for those on a diet looking for an occasional treat.

I received mini baked donuts from my mom friends. They are made with Hokkaido wheat and are additive-free. They cost 216 yen for 7 pieces. The outside is moist, while the inside is chewy. They contain sugar, so they are sweet, but not as sweet as store-bought donuts. They can be eaten from age 1, so they would be a nice treat for children to bring to tea parties.

This is a confectionery shop located about a 15-minute walk from Toyonaka Station. They offer a variety of individually wrapped, affordable sweets. This time, I tried the "Smile Coron" (60 yen) and the "Baked Stick Chocolate Strawberry" (86 yen) that were given to me. The "Smile Coron" is a dacquoise made without any food additives. It has a crumbly texture with a hint of sweetness from the sugar. It is easy to eat, even for small children, due to its lack of additives and not being too hard. It would be perfect for serving with tea. The "Baked Stick Chocolate Strawberry" is a chocolate stick confection with a crispy texture and a subtle sweet and sour taste from the strawberries inside the chocolate. It's not overly delicious, but considering the price, it's a high-quality treat. It would be great for serving as a tea snack for a large group. They have several other additive-free sweets available, so I would like to try them when my child grows up and starts eating sweets.

I received Chocola Rusk and Nariemu. I have had Chocola Rusk before, but this time it came in a Halloween-themed package. The chocolate seeps into the bread, so when you hold it, the chocolate melts a bit and sticks to your fingers. The chocolate is not bitter and goes well with the crispy texture of the rusk. Nariemu is a cake wrapped in aluminum foil with homemade sweet red bean paste, and the one I had was sweet potato flavor. There are also butter and charcoal coffee flavors available. The sweet potato one is more moist than expected, almost like a traditional Japanese sweet. I like that it's easy to eat and convenient.

I had Tea Time Bread Chocolate Rusks and Arale Seaweed Salad Mini Bags. The Tea Time Bread Chocolate Rusks come in a pack of 5 for 300 yen plus tax. Each pack contains 2 rusks. They are made with rusk-specific French bread, giving them a crispy texture. The chocolate is infused into the dough, making the inside crispy with a spread of chocolate sweetness. The Arale Seaweed Salad Mini Bags cost 60 yen plus tax. They contain bite-sized arare. The dough is made with glutinous rice and seaweed, baked with a salad flavor. The saltiness is light, and the arare has a light texture. The taste is average, but both snacks come in mini bags and are reasonably priced, making them easy to use as tea snacks for a large group.

I received a Fuji no Meigetsu (120 yen + tax) at a childcare salon at the maternity clinic I always go to. Although Chateraise is known for Western-style sweets, this one is a Japanese-style steamed bun. It has a fluffy sponge cake with homemade custard inside. The custard, made with eggs, butter, and condensed milk, is rich but has a crumbly texture rather than being creamy. It's a matter of personal preference, but I personally didn't like it. I don't think I would use Fuji no Meigetsu as a souvenir.

I knew about this shop because it was on my way to school when I was a student. I tried the Alphonso mango and Setouchi lemon busses. Depending on the combination of the assortment, it is 500 yen + tax for a pack of 5. The busse dough is a common, fluffy dough. Instead of vanilla cream, the filling uses mango and lemon fruit pulp, giving it a sweet and sour, refreshing taste. There are also Shine Muscat and mixed berry buses, which are unusual and summery. In terms of taste quality, it is similar to convenience store sweets, but the price is reasonable and just right for everyday enjoyment at home.
