Crossing the Kamo River in Kyoto, heading south on the street of the Prefectural University Hospital. Kawaramachi Street is home to popular bakeries and patisseries. I found a new bagel shop and across from it, I found this cake shop ♥️ "Plaisir Sucre" is located on the first floor of an elegant chocolate-colored apartment building. It's quite a large store•*¨*•.¸¸♬︎ The large showcase is filled with beautifully arranged petit gateaux that look deliciously dazzling! The beautifully lined up cakes alone are worth a visit (⸝⸝⸝ᵒ̴̶̷ᴗᵒ̴̶̷ꕤ)꙳⋆✡︎꙳。*✧ Baked goods, petit gateaux, macarons, bonbons chocolat, croquants, confitures, baumkuchen. It's a spacious patisserie, which is rare in urban areas! ◉ San Marc 490 yen ◉ Matcha Chou a la Creme 500 yen The prices are reasonable for Kyoto, known for its high cost of living ♥️ The staff are also laid back and have a pleasant demeanor. I wanted to buy more, but I had too many things to carry and had to give up (><) It's difficult to take cakes home during the hot season, so it's a shame that I couldn't buy more. The "San Marc" is the chef's recommendation. It has a smooth texture with caramelized cream and chocolate. The smooth mouthfeel is delicious! It's a representative French pastry. The "Matcha Chou a la Creme" is covered in pure white white chocolate, with delicate chocolate flowers decorating it. It's beautiful from every angle ♥️ Inside, the smooth matcha creme brulee and white chocolate mousse melt in your mouth. It's a delicate cake typical of traditional French pastries. They also had "Croquant Noisette," a traditional French confection made by thinly baking caramel until crispy, sprinkled with hazelnuts. It's delicate and fragile, so not many shops carry it, but it seems to be the chef's specialty. I'll visit on a day with fewer things to carry next time. Thank you for the delicious treats (*´▽`人)

After dinner, I picked up some delicious cakes from Patisserie Shucrè near Kyoto Imperial Palace. The Sanmaruku cake costs 490 yen and has a crispy caramelized surface with a smooth cream and chocolate inside. The Matcha Choux Brulee costs 500 yen and has a smooth matcha brulee with white chocolate mousse. Both cakes were delicious and cost around 500 yen, making them a great value for the area. The variety of cakes makes it a place you can enjoy visiting multiple times. Thank you for the meal!

The chocolate cake and strawberry tart were the most delicious. The cheesecake was also very tasty. The chocolate desserts were just average. We also bought some baked goods like Engadine shortbread, coconut shortbread, financiers, and Breton galette. The Engadine had a strong honey flavor and the Florentine was well-received.

Prejeel Sukure is a popular patisserie in Kyoto, located near the intersection of Kawaramachi Marutamachi. The showcase is filled with delicious-looking cakes. Although I was tempted by the cakes, I had to give up as I had over two hours of walking ahead of me. However, they had a wide variety of baked goods to choose from. The Chocolat Sablé (100 yen) had a rich flavor of fermented butter that spread throughout the mouth, with the sweetness of chocolate chips as an accent. The Madeleine (190 yen) had a gentle sweetness and a fluffy texture that made me feel happy. It ranks high among all the baked goods I've tried.

I heard that the baked sweets were delicious, so I went to buy some. I enjoyed them at a table in the rest area of Kyoto Imperial Palace. The Galette Bretonne cost 220 yen. It looked a bit rough in appearance but had a rich flavor. The saltiness was milder than I expected. The Palé Framboises cost 180 yen. The red raspberry paste was beautiful. The base was a biscuit. I recommend it as a convenient baked sweet. They also have cakes available.

There is a prefectural cultural arts center nearby, and I bought a souvenir on my way back from the theater. Among the various baked goods available, I purchased madeleines. They had a nice lemon scent typical of madeleines, and I really liked them. This time, I wanted to reduce my luggage because it was snowing, so I made a modest purchase, but next time I want to buy a tarte tatin.

While cycling around Kyoto, I visited a shop with a wide variety of freshly made cakes and baked goods on display. Since I had already eaten a lot of cake earlier in the day, I decided to buy some Orangettes to take home in the evening. The combination of orange peel and almond chocolate was delicious!

There was a Western confectionery shop in such a place, which caught my attention because a sweets blogger who I follow on Instagram frequently visits. They recommend the Mont Blanc with a flower-like squeeze, but today I was on a sweets and bakery shop tour and didn't have confidence in safely bringing back a Petit Gateau with me, so I only selected some baked goods this time.
[Galette Bretonne] ⭐︎3.9
The pieces that overflowed when I took them out of the bag were delicious, which raised my expectations. This galette is simple and lacks individuality, but maybe that's its unique charm? It is a galette that faithfully follows the basics, with perfect baking that I personally like. No alcohol is used, and baking powder is listed.
[Choux Sec] ⭐︎3.9
The light dough, similar to a croquant, is generously covered with crushed almonds and filled with praline chocolate cream. It was my first time trying a Choux Sec, and I found it to be a fun pastry with a variety of textures. I liked it as much as the Galette Bretonne.
[Engadina] 220 yen ⭐︎3.8
I like the sweetness of the dough at this shop. The walnuts and nougat inside have a balanced sweetness that goes well with the dough. The nougat contains figs.
[Palette Framboises] 160 yen ⭐︎3.8
The refreshing acidity of the raspberry and the delicious sablé cookie combination is excellent. I approached it with caution due to past experiences with icing or jam cookies, but I was very pleased with the texture of the raspberry coating.
[Florantan] 210 yen ⭐︎3.4
A layer of hard pâte sucrée with a hard caramel layer on top, and sliced almond caramel on top. It has a satisfying texture and worth the price, but it wasn't to my taste.
[Financier] 185 yen ⭐︎3.4
It is simply very delicious, with a uniformly moist texture throughout. It is easy to eat for people of all ages and genders, but it is not the kind of financier that leaves a lasting impression. Kids in the neighborhood who grow up eating this financier are lucky. It is not a special treat, but a baked good that fits into everyday life.

I passed by before the store closed and took a quick peek. There was one fig kugelhopf left, which had a good reputation, so I bought it. Lucky me! I also bought Engadine, which was excellent! The nuts and nougat parts blend well together. Furthermore, the aroma that comes through the pie crust is very nice! I look forward to checking out other products as well.

I purchased the following three items: 1) Mont Blanc made with Tanba chestnuts (570 yen) 2) Chocolat Nature (460 yen) 3) Fig Crepe (440 yen). The Mont Blanc is made with 100% Tanba chestnuts and claims to have the original taste of chestnuts, but the taste as a Mont Blanc is just average.

Located on Kawaramachi Street near Marutamachi Street, the name of the Plesir Sucre store comes from "Plesir" (joy) and "Sucre" (sweet). I purchased three cakes (including tax): 1) Pear Caramel (460 yen), 2) Foret Noire (470 yen), and 3) Matcha Choux Praline (460 yen). All the cakes were elegantly made and delicious. I especially liked the Matcha Choux Praline, with matcha mousse inside white chocolate.

This is a popular patisserie located in Kawaramachi Marutamachi. The pear and caramel dessert (¥460) consists of layers of pear mousse, caramel mousse, and chocolate. The pear mousse contains pear compote, giving it a strong pear flavor. The caramel flavor is also prominent. The chocolate layer has a crunchy texture, similar to a snack, which personally I didn't enjoy much, but overall the taste was excellent. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I had a meal in Kawaramachi, then headed north along the Kamo River. I took a walk through the streets of Kyoto that I don't usually visit. I had been to PLEASURE SUCRE before, but I hadn't posted a review on Tabelog. Today, I bought a Galette Bretonne to take home from here. The interior and appearance of the gateau are both tasteful and it's a good shop. I really like Galette Bretonne among baked goods, so that was one of the reasons for my good impression. It was delicious.

I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and decided to take out a cake. There were beautiful cakes, chocolates, and baked goods available. I chose the Grand Orange, which had sliced oranges on top, giving it a nice appearance. The Praline had a hint of chocolate and orange, with a light sweetness that made it easy to eat. The San Marc had a slightly bitter taste from the crème brûlée, along with caramel, almond, chocolate, and vanilla cream which were all delicious. The Chocolat Nature was surprisingly light and easy to eat, with chocolate cream and sponge. All the cakes were lighter in taste than they looked, simple and delicious. I would like to try their baked goods or chocolates next time. With a variety of sweets available, it's perfect for taking home as a souvenir or snack. Thank you for the meal.

While walking from Kakimoto-san to Shimogamo Shrine, I came across a shop that caught my eye. It was Ryugetsuan, a shop I had never checked out before but decided to visit. Upon entering the shop, I noticed a showcase filled with cakes right in front of me. On the window side facing the street, there were various types of baked goods displayed, which was delightful. The prices were reasonable, and the ingredients seemed to be of good quality. I picked out a few items to try:
- Langue de Chat (Chocolate) - 630 yen (tax included): A cute box of chocolate shaped like a cat's tongue, with a cat face imprint on both sides. It came in milk and bitter chocolate flavors.
- Brûlée - 180 yen (tax included): Rich and buttery, without the use of rum that is common in similar pastries.
- Uji Matcha Cookie - 87 yen (tax included): Small in size but with a strong aroma of Uji matcha.
- Salted Caramel Madeleine - 180 yen (tax included): I chose this flavor over the lemon one, as I love salted caramel. It had a nice balance of caramel and salt.
- Langue de Bœuf - 250 yen (tax included): A larger leaf pie than usual, caramelized on the surface for a crispy texture.
The gentleman in a chef's uniform who assisted me was very polite and seemed to be the owner-patissier. The shop is great for small gifts, and I thought it would be a good choice for souvenirs for my workplace. I would definitely visit again when in the area. Overall, it was a delightful experience.

I made a promise to have lunch at a Taiwanese restaurant. While waiting for the restaurant to open, I spotted a cake shop across the street! I decided to check it out and it turned out to be a nice little shop with creatively designed cakes. It was hard to choose just one before my meal, but I ended up buying a cake called "Andalusia" and a tropical fruit jam with pineapple and tea-infused confiture. The Andalusia cake was described as having chocolate cream and orange mascarpone cream, and it had a melt-in-your-mouth texture with a unique flavor from the syrup-soaked oranges and sugar-coated hazelnuts. It was a fun and delicious treat. The jam, especially the Darjeeling tea confiture, was also delicious. It had a strong Darjeeling aroma with a milky tea cream-like sauce. I mainly spread it on bread and it was so good that I wanted more. The shop seems to always come up with new creations, so I look forward to visiting again. There are other tempting eateries in the area, so I think I'll set up my lunch around here.

Pistachio cake for 420 yen. The cakes at this Kyoto bakery are reasonably priced. The taste was a bit plain though. The baked goods looked more delicious, so I want to try them next time!
