Every time I passed by, I was always curious about the shop along National Route 12. Although the recommended eel rice bowl for 2,500 yen was tempting, I decided to order the miso ramen for 860 yen. It had a sweet yet boldly flavored taste that somehow reminded me of the original Fukuraien shop in Sapporo from the old days. I couldn't finish all the soup as I am getting older, but it was a delicious meal.

The fried rice in the fried rice set (with soy sauce ramen) has a sticky texture, not like the usual separate grains, but more like the simple and homey taste of grandma's fried rice. The soy sauce ramen has a unique taste, almost like fish flakes or bonito, with a slightly fishy smell. The noodles are a bit like frozen food. I will try something different next time for a better experience! (lol)

Located in the middle of the national highway 12 between Iwamizawa and Ebetsu, this place is open for business even late into the night. I've always been curious about it because the name has changed. I visited around noon, which turned out to be a good time. Inside, there were regular dining tables and a number of sunken kotatsu tables. Since the regular tables were full, I opted for a kotatsu seat. Looking at the menu, there were various options, but I decided to go with the "Fried Rice Set (with Ramen or Soba)" with soy sauce ramen. I placed my order and started reading a manga. Suddenly, the fried rice arrived, which was quite fast - probably a combination of half fried rice and half ramen. The portion seemed just right. The fried rice was a bit salty with a slightly crispy texture. The ramen was old-fashioned with slightly thick curly noodles and chashu. Personally, I didn't mind it. What stood out the most was how fast the service was here. It might even be faster than a fast-food restaurant. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I already live in another prefecture, but whenever I return to my hometown, I always feel like eating at Morupa-san. It's been quite a while. The drive-in is lovely! Honestly, I wanted to try a variety of dishes, but I could only eat so much... After much deliberation, I chose the miso ramen. It was delicious! It's not the trendy ramen nowadays. It's more of an old-school Hokkaido-style miso ramen. I can't taste this flavor where I currently live. Ah, it's so nostalgic! The rich miso ramen is incredibly tasty. This is the kind of flavor I like! I also tried a bit of my companion's fried rice, which was on the lighter side and had a gentle taste, contrasting with the miso ramen. It wasn't the heavily seasoned Chinese-style fried rice, but rather an authentic and gentle flavor. Hmm... I wonder if they adjusted the flavors so that you can enjoy the rich miso ramen and the gentle fried rice together... Well, that's just my random imagination. I don't really know. I definitely want to eat these flavors again when I come back.

I visited after a long time. I had the liver and leek set for lunch (with mini soy sauce ramen). As expected, the liver and leek here are delicious - satisfied once again!

There is a shop along Route 12, which I passed by a few times due to work reasons, so I was already aware of its existence. Today, I finally visited Morupa. As a curry lover, I ordered the pork cutlet curry. My companion ordered the Genghis Khan set meal. Unfortunately, the curry tasted like a typical sweet and slightly spicy curry that you can find anywhere. However, the pork cutlet was crispy and satisfying to eat. The Genghis Khan dish had surprisingly tender meat, but the flavor was a bit strong. Taste preferences may vary. Since they have a wide range of menu options, I plan to visit again next time.

This place is located in Nakahoromui-cho in Iwamizawa City, along Route 12. For the exact location, please check the map on Tabelog as usual. I was curious about the exact founding year of the two diners that have been here in Nakahoromui for a long time, so I decided to visit one of them after many years. I parked my car in the front parking lot and entered the restaurant. The interior was mainly raised seating and quite spacious. I sat at a table for four and ordered the "Salt Ramen" as usual. The soup arrived in about 5-6 minutes, with a clear and beautiful broth similar to Hakodate ramen. The soup had a light animal-based broth with a slightly overpowering umami taste, and was a bit salty. The noodles were unique for the Hokkaido region, with a medium-edged square cross-section and a slightly wavy, high-water content straight noodle. As for the toppings, there was a slice of ham-like chashu, menma, kamaboko, nori, and finely chopped green onions. This restaurant was founded in 1970 and has been a long-standing diner along Route 12. I hope they continue to operate for many more years to come.

On May 24, 2014, I visited a ramen restaurant in Iwamizawa for the first time. I had finished my errands around 12:30 and was feeling hungry. I remembered a restaurant called Morupa that I used to visit as a child in a neighboring town. I decided to stop by a similar Morupa restaurant that I had seen on the way. The restaurant had a nostalgic feel to it, with a young staff member greeting me. I ordered a miso ramen, which was served quickly. The soup had a nice umami flavor without being overpowering, and the noodles were cooked just right. The stir-fried vegetables added a nice crunch, but the pork slices were a bit too soft and strong in flavor. Overall, the ramen was delicious and made me curious to try other items on the menu in the future. I hope the restaurant does well in this area with limited dining options.

Welcome! I finally had the opportunity to visit a restaurant in Horomui district, Iwamizawa city. The restaurant was quite large and crowded when I arrived. Despite the bustling atmosphere, I managed to find a seat and ordered the Meat Cutlet. The dish was served on a sizzling hot plate, with a crispy exterior and a familiar taste of pre-made meat. The spaghetti underneath was oily but added a unique touch to the dish. Overall, the restaurant seemed popular among families and offered a simple yet satisfying meal.
