I wanted to have fried food for lunch after my workout, so I visited the restaurant and ordered the Chicken Set Meal. They offer a choice of sauces, and this time I chose grated ponzu and special sauce. The fried chicken was freshly made, juicy, and filling. Unfortunately, I couldn't have a highball or beer as I had work later. They had a variety of lunch menu options, so I'll list them here. Thank you for the meal today.

This is a review of a restaurant I visited for the fourth time. I don't remember the flow of entering the restaurant at all, but it seems I took a photo of the entrance and the first drink. I would be grateful if I could stay until the train starts moving. If you miss the last train in Ueno, please feel free to stay.

I came to this shop that is open even late at night. It is easy to order with touch panel system, and the main dish, chicken wings, was delicious. The staff's service was good, and the seating space was wide and comfortable, making it easy to spend time alone or in a group. I would like to use this shop again.

Before casually heading to Ueno Zoo, we decided to have lunch. We were craving for oyakodon, so we went to Toriyoshi Shoten. The grand menu is available even on weekends. The fried chicken and oyakodon were fluffy, hot, and delicious. The Torisoba (soba noodles, but more like ramen) made my skin feel collagen-like and smooth after eating it. It was my first time there, and I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the prices were! During the same time, there were three women at another table having a fun daytime drinking session. It looked like they were having a great time. The restaurant is spacious, reasonably priced, and offers delicious food, making it a great deal.

Located in Taito-ku, Tokyo, "Toriryo Shouten Ueno 6-chome" is a 24-hour izakaya with a focus on chicken dishes. It is a 5-minute walk from Okachimachi and Ueno stations. During Golden Week, the place was not too crowded unlike the surrounding areas. We ordered a draft beer, lemon sour, quail egg, edamame, secret salt chicken, fried chicken, gizzard, and sesame salt chicken liver. Highly recommended are the fried chicken and doteyaki. The doteyaki, slightly sweet with a touch of spice, is a perfect match for rice. The doteyaki set also comes with daikon radish. The fried chicken is best enjoyed freshly cooked with your choice of salt, ponzu, or grated radish. Overall, a recommended spot if you are in the area.

I visited this izakaya located about a 5-6 minute walk from Ueno Station in Tokyo. The izakaya is run by Isomaru Suisan company. I visited during the year-end period when the service charge was higher than usual. The interior of the restaurant had counter seats, tables, and tatami rooms with a decent number of seats. I ordered stir-fried pea shoots from the touch panel menu. The pea shoots were well-coated in oil and had a strong Chinese-style flavor. I also had flattened tsukune (chicken meatballs) with a rich teriyaki sauce, and spicy chicken wings. Overall, the restaurant had a Nagoya-style vibe to it.

Today, I felt like eating chicken from the morning. And when that happens, there's only one place to go. This time, the restaurant is Toriyo Shoten Ueno 6-chome branch. Located in a building facing the intersection, the flashy shop front stands out in a prime location. Upon entering the entrance, I sanitized my hands with alcohol and was told to sit wherever I liked, so I headed to the counter seats separated by acrylic boards. Each seat is spacious, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. Shortly after, barley tea and hot towels were served, and I examined the menu on the table. I ordered the recommended item at the top left of the menu! Chicken Chicken Teishoku for 990 yen. I asked for extra rice for free since it's available, and chose two sauces: tartar sauce and grated ponzu sauce. After a while, the server brought a tray that surprised me! The portion was unbelievably huge, with a great sense of volume! The main dish, extra rice, miso soup, two sauces, and pickles were served, with the main dish featuring a plate full of chicken cutlet, 4 pieces of fried chicken, potato salad, salad, and tomatoes, creating an impressive display. It's like a challenge thrown at the eater, urging me to take it on. Now, let's begin the challenge. I started with the fried chicken as it is. It was delicious with well-seasoned flavors. Of course, I called for more rice, and it was perfect! Then, I enjoyed changing the taste by dipping the fried chicken in the sauces. Delicious. Next, I tried the chicken cutlet. It was also a big size with a satisfying texture. While I usually eat it with tonkatsu sauce, trying it with grated ponzu sauce was refreshing and enjoyable. Occasionally, I refreshed my palate with miso soup and pickles, steadily making progress with my meal. Towards the end, I had the potato salad. A great dish that goes well with alcohol and further fills the stomach. Since I needed to eat some vegetables, I had a cabbage-centric salad. Looking at my rice bowl, about 70% was left untouched. I had focused too much on the side dishes and neglected the rice. I regretted ordering extra rice! But it was my responsibility, so I forced myself to finish it. For those watching their calorie intake, this dish is very dangerous, and those over sixty should be careful, but it's perfect for those who love hearty meals. Let's walk around Ameyoko to walk off the meal. Ah, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Movie viewing record ☆ 33rd movie watched in 2021 "The King's Man" @ Shinjuku Piccadilly

I used the Go To Eat campaign for my 4th visit. This restaurant is not only conveniently located but also has a charm that makes me want to come back again and again. This time, I added grated yam to my pork cutlet stew set. The egg was gentle and brought out the goodness of the chicken cutlet. It was also nice to be able to enjoy flavor variations with shichimi pepper.

I had the mixed fry set meal. The fried chicken was bigger and juicier than I expected, and it was very delicious. The crab cream croquette and minced cutlet were also hot and crispy, almost burning my mouth. I wish it was a bit cheaper so I could go more often...

When I arrived in Ueno, I decided to have lunch at Toriyoshi Shouten instead of going to a standing bar. I chose the curry cutlet this time, thinking it would be a mild volume compared to the chicken set meal I had before, which was overwhelming. However, to my surprise, the plate was large and there were two cutlets hidden under the curry. I thought there was only one, but there were actually two cutlets inside! I managed to eat it all by cooling it down properly and savoring each bite. The curry was medium spicy and easy to eat, with the cutlets being thick and not thin at all. It was a good lunch for those who want to enjoy a hearty meal with plenty of cutlets.

I came to Ueno for the first time in a while on the weekend, but I wasn't really thinking about the coronavirus, and it was crowded under the elevated train tracks. I thought maybe Ueno wasn't taking coronavirus measures seriously, so I changed my plans and went to a different restaurant. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, everyone was drinking, and it seemed like they were all tired of the coronavirus. I moved away from the crowded area and went to a restaurant I had been to once before. I remembered that the drinks were a bit expensive, but when I went in, I saw that they were taking proper coronavirus precautions, and we ordered using a tablet, which was good. The tables were spaced apart too. I ordered a draft beer (549 yen) first. Then I ordered a plum sour (439 yen + extra plum 55 yen), plum wine (528 yen), and a cloudy sake called Momokawa (549 yen). I ordered about 3 dishes as well, spending around 3000 yen alone. It might seem a bit expensive, but it's worth it for peace of mind. Getting sick with the coronavirus would be much more costly in the end.

Chicken Cutlet Set Meal, including tax 913 yen Rice, pickles, and miso soup included On a day when the weather suddenly turned cold after a streak of hot days, I was craving a warm meal for lunch. I had passed by this restaurant many times and the menu had caught my eye with its enticing description. The crispy fried chicken cutlet, coated in fresh egg, sounded delicious. When I entered the restaurant, a friendly staff member greeted me and led me to my seat. The L-shaped counter had a few solo male diners scattered about. I ordered the set meal with a smaller portion of rice. When it arrived, I was surprised by the size of the chicken cutlet—it was not overly large, but the texture was more moist than crispy. The egg coating was not as runny as I had expected, and there were some slightly burnt parts. The taste was decent, but with such a generous portion, I started to feel a bit overwhelmed. I tried adding some shichimi pepper for flavor, but it didn't make much of a difference. The bright yellow pickles, which I'm not a fan of, were too sweet for my liking. I couldn't help but envy the shredded cabbage on other diners' plates—I wished there was at least some vegetables accompanying my meal. The chicken cutlet was incredibly thick, with the thickest part measuring about 4-5cm. By the time I finished, I was feeling uncomfortably full. For those who enjoy a hearty portion of chicken cutlet stew without any vegetables, this meal might be perfect. However, it was a bit too much for me. I actually wanted to try the chicken wings at this restaurant, but I don't think I could handle them in a set meal format. I'll have to think about what I want to eat next time and maybe come back to try something else.

On a regular night, I felt like eating yakitori or chicken near Ueno and wandered around. Due to the influence of the coronavirus, the Ueno shopping street had already closed, and there were few people walking on the streets, but the area under the tracks and izakayas were bustling as usual. It looked good in terms of appearance and cost performance, so I decided to stop by! The first floor was empty, so I thought I entered, but was guided to the second floor and it was unexpectedly crowded (laughs). I regretted that there was a slight sense of being enclosed, and the first floor would have been better. Well, more than that, I wanted to drink alcohol, so I ordered beer and kushi-yaki first! It was delicious!! I ended up staying longer than I thought. Still, it was in the 6,000 yen range, so it was cost-effective. I definitely want to go there again.

It was Sunday evening and I didn't drink much, so I decided to go to the President area near the elevated train tracks. It was really crowded and hectic. Sundays in Ueno seem to be busy regardless of the rain. I was impressed by how much people were drinking. As I wandered around, I noticed that most of the bars seemed too fancy for a novice like me. I finally found a clean and cozy place where I could relax and have a good conversation. The first spot they seated me at was noisy with a group of seven men who seemed to be coming back from a horse race or something. I had to change my seat. Soon, more people started coming in and by 7 o'clock, the place was already full. It was surprising to see everyone out on a Sunday night. The prices for alcohol were a bit high, but the snack set was good. Overall, the place gave off a pricey vibe and I probably won't come back again.

The gathering with the old men in the Ueno area was quite enjoyable. I ordered the extra spicy fried chicken wings at Toriyoshi, and they were packed with flavor from the spices. The high school student waiter told us about his dream of becoming a hairstylist and studying in New York to open his own shop there. Dreams are truly inspiring!

Ueno Marui's backside, a dense area of Toriya Group restaurants. Isomaru, Gonogoro, Ichigoro, and Toriya Shoten. Is this the cheaper version of Toriya? It's my first visit. Basically, each shop has similar menus and prices. Well, the fried chicken wings are done properly (laughs). Sometimes I crave it, so I visited for the medium-spicy chicken wings. I think this is no different from the regular Toriya. Surprisingly, the potato salad is delicious! This place is also good for solo drinking. Thank you for the meal.

In the early morning, feeling tired from work, I felt like having something rich with alcohol, so I decided to stop by. The chicken wings and potato fries were just as good as I had hoped for! It was very comforting to enjoy them with beer. However, the sake, despite being served in a traditional style, was spilled by the first two servers, so I couldn't fully experience its charm. The last server, though, had a bright personality and served us well without needing reminders. It's a tough world where the quality of the staff can determine the quality of the restaurant in the service industry. Thanks to the last server, we were able to leave happily!

Torayoshi Shoten @ Ueno Despite unexpected circumstances, I safely arrived in Ueno by 4:00 PM, so it's all good. With a little extra time on my hands, I decided to look for a third place in Ueno. Without researching beforehand, I walked around looking for an interesting restaurant, and that's when I stumbled upon "Torayoshi Shoten." It seems like I really love chicken wings. I sat at the counter and started with a Hoppy set (including tax 496 yen). It's a bit pricier compared to the standard in this area, but it's not bad. However, the group of four at the table next to me was incredibly loud. Listening in, it seemed like a blind double date, and the man was very enthusiastic. Lately, I've become averse to these high-pitched laughter noises. For snacks, I ordered the "Spicy Chicken Wings" (519 yen). It looked just as good as it tasted. This place doesn't serve appetizers, which is a relief. If they did, the cabbage served with the chicken wings would probably cost 300 yen. The spicy chicken wings had a good kick to them and the cabbage was quite thick, making it a bit difficult to chew. It was a bit disappointing that there wasn't any sauce for the cabbage. I ordered another Nak (323 yen) as my Hoppy ran out. The alcohol prices are a bit high, so this might not be the best place for heavy drinkers. The way the chicken wings were presented seemed to be inspired by "Yamachan," and it's no wonder it's their signature dish. After about 50 minutes, I settled the bill and left. The panda craze at Ueno station is still going strong. I returned to Shizuoka from Ueno earlier than planned via the Tokaido Line.

A famous izakaya in Ueno known for their chicken wings. Visited as the fourth stop of the night, meeting up with friends from the third stop for a quick drink before the last train. We ordered ramen and chicken wings for our hungry group. Had a few bites and drank some lemon sour. After about 30 minutes, we had to leave to catch the last train.
