Today, I felt like eating chicken from the morning. And when that happens, there's only one place to go. This time, the restaurant is Toriyo Shoten Ueno 6-chome branch. Located in a building facing the intersection, the flashy shop front stands out in a prime location. Upon entering the entrance, I sanitized my hands with alcohol and was told to sit wherever I liked, so I headed to the counter seats separated by acrylic boards. Each seat is spacious, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. Shortly after, barley tea and hot towels were served, and I examined the menu on the table. I ordered the recommended item at the top left of the menu! Chicken Chicken Teishoku for 990 yen. I asked for extra rice for free since it's available, and chose two sauces: tartar sauce and grated ponzu sauce. After a while, the server brought a tray that surprised me! The portion was unbelievably huge, with a great sense of volume! The main dish, extra rice, miso soup, two sauces, and pickles were served, with the main dish featuring a plate full of chicken cutlet, 4 pieces of fried chicken, potato salad, salad, and tomatoes, creating an impressive display. It's like a challenge thrown at the eater, urging me to take it on. Now, let's begin the challenge. I started with the fried chicken as it is. It was delicious with well-seasoned flavors. Of course, I called for more rice, and it was perfect! Then, I enjoyed changing the taste by dipping the fried chicken in the sauces. Delicious. Next, I tried the chicken cutlet. It was also a big size with a satisfying texture. While I usually eat it with tonkatsu sauce, trying it with grated ponzu sauce was refreshing and enjoyable. Occasionally, I refreshed my palate with miso soup and pickles, steadily making progress with my meal. Towards the end, I had the potato salad. A great dish that goes well with alcohol and further fills the stomach. Since I needed to eat some vegetables, I had a cabbage-centric salad. Looking at my rice bowl, about 70% was left untouched. I had focused too much on the side dishes and neglected the rice. I regretted ordering extra rice! But it was my responsibility, so I forced myself to finish it. For those watching their calorie intake, this dish is very dangerous, and those over sixty should be careful, but it's perfect for those who love hearty meals. Let's walk around Ameyoko to walk off the meal. Ah, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Movie viewing record ☆ 33rd movie watched in 2021 "The King's Man" @ Shinjuku Piccadilly
