Located near the canal in Gion, across from Hakata Police Station, there is a liquor store called "Charme du Vin." They have a wide selection of Western liquors and often have discounted outlet sales. I stopped by when they had cheap rum available. Inside the store, there is a tasting corner where you can sample drinks. I asked if I could drink wine by the glass, and they said they have champagne. It was like a dream come true. I paid 500 yen at the register for a glass of E. Tamair E. C. champagne. I didn't know about it, but it was definitely champagne. It was great that they offered it for 500 yen. I sat down, enjoyed the view inside the store, and took my time. The variety of Western liquors they have is impressive. The gin section, in particular, is outstanding. I don't think there are many liquor stores in Fukuoka that have such a wide selection of gin. They also have a great variety of rum and liqueurs. Amazing. I will definitely come back!
