Popular long-established sushi restaurant in Iwamizawa. Affordable with large sushi rice portions for a satisfying meal. The quality of the toppings is also excellent. Recommended items include fresh sea urchin, salmon roe, flying fish roe, crab, shrimp, surf clam, scallop, tuna, white fish. Especially try the expertly prepared mackerel by the owner. Enjoy!

I wandered around in the night in Iwamizawa and ended up here. I felt like having sushi, so I explored and found this cozy place with a counter and tatami seating. The chef's wife runs the place and it has a warm atmosphere. I ordered a special sushi set with tea. It included medium fatty tuna, white fish, botan shrimp, abalone, surf clam, scallop, sea urchin, salmon roe, and flying fish roe. While there were no surprising ingredients, each piece was of high quality and delicious. The tuna was melt-in-your-mouth, the abalone was chewy, and the sea urchin was creamy. The portions were generous and I especially enjoyed the thickly sliced botan shrimp. As a bonus, I was also served a slice of Yubari melon. The staff were very friendly and I had a great experience at this restaurant.

At the festival in Iwamizawa, the restaurant was full, with orders coming in one after another over the phone. By the time we arrived at 9 pm, the chef had run out of ingredients, apologizing and asking if we would like two servings of sushi. When my companion asked for the premium selection, the chef explained that they were out of medium fatty tuna and abalone, so he suggested the premium selection instead, which included shrimp, yellowtail, button shrimp, crab, whelk, surf clam, scallop, sea urchin, and salmon roe. My companion mentioned that the mackerel here is only partially cooked, which I didn't quite understand the meaning of, but it was indeed delicious. We finished with a pear for dessert and thanked the chef. Even though we had beer, the bill was surprisingly cheap. Truly a popular restaurant in Iwamizawa!

I was brought to this sushi restaurant by a friend with whom I have had a 30-year relationship. The interior of the restaurant is cozy, with a counter seating for 6 and a raised seating area for 3. The cost performance is good, with prices starting at 1,700 yen for omakase and 2,600 yen for the special omakase. The sushi rice is on the vinegary side, and the homemade pickled ginger is not too sweet and very delicious. You can even drink the pickled ginger on its own. The quality of the fish is good, and the size of the rice is small, making it easy to eat. As a bonus, we were served watermelon as a service, and I am in a great mood!

This time, I visited the restaurant to entertain the salesperson who came on a business trip from Nagoya. I used to see the owner of this restaurant at a certain izakaya that I often visit late at night. However, it has been about 20 years since I last visited this restaurant. I had completely forgotten the interior of the restaurant, but it seemed like it had been renovated as the position of the counter was clearly reversed from the last time I visited. Both the salesperson and I love beer, so we started with a toast with draft beer. The homemade "squid salted guts" served as an appetizer was fresh and crunchy with no strong taste, making it excellent. The sushi ingredients were all carefully selected and generously served. Since it had been a while since I last visited, the owner kindly offered us a complimentary dish of fatty tuna sashimi.

I have eaten at Tosa Sushi a few times at the restaurant and have also had takeout. The sushi pieces are large with generous portions, and the rice is firm like typical sushi from a local sushi restaurant. As shown in the photos, when I ordered anago (conger eel) as a single item, a very large piece of anago was served. It seems to be one of the recommended items at the restaurant. Although located in Iwamizawa, in terms of deliciousness ranking, this restaurant ranks second for me. I believe the special course was around 2500 yen. It also includes items like abalone and sea urchin, although I could do without the flying fish roe.

I believe this is my third time using this shop. This time, I visited with four high school classmates, all of whom are non-drinkers. We arrived just before 7 pm, during the busiest time, without a reservation, but luckily two of the four-person tables in the raised seating area were available. The seating was a bit tight for four people. We all started with a draft beer and enjoyed the homemade salted squid as a complimentary appetizer. Each of us ordered our favorite dishes, and we also ordered the premium sushi. The sushi made by the master chef was excellent. The restaurant does not accommodate groups of more than 10 people, but it is suitable for groups of 1 to 7-8 people. As a side note, the friendly master chef is often seen at a dining spot in Iwamizawa after closing, and I run into him there almost 10 times a year. (laughs)
