I had to go to Kanda for work. Since I finished work a little early, I decided to take a stroll around the station to see if there was a place where I could have a light drink. I spotted a big sign and decided to go up to the second floor of the restaurant, thinking that skewers would be perfect for a light drink. Luckily, until 6 pm, they had a happy hour where draft beer was only 199 yen (excluding tax) per glass. I ordered a glass of beer and looked through the menu to decide what to eat. The prices were reasonable overall, and it seemed like a good place to have a few drinks. I ordered the "tataki cucumber" from the speed menu, as well as the limited items "torotan" and "tsukune" skewers. Whenever something is labeled as limited, I can't resist ordering it. The dishes arrived promptly, and my favorite of the day was the "tsukune" skewer. It was not your typical skewer, but a large and juicy tsukune! The classic way to eat it with egg yolk was just perfect. The well-cooked tsukune, the flavorful sauce, and the richness of the egg yolk made it a satisfying dish. The other skewers were also of high quality, giving off a homemade vibe. I am grateful to Chikuzen-ya for offering such delicious food at this price. Although I only stayed for about an hour and had a few drinks, my stomach was satisfied, and it was a wallet-friendly restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

This is a yakitori izakaya. I was looking for a place to drink and found this restaurant, so I went in. I was asked to order using my smartphone, so I did. I scanned the QR code and placed my order. I ordered a white hoppy set for 490 yen, and a glass of shochu for 200 yen. For food, I ordered the addictive Torotama Natto Yaki for 380 yen and the seared squid for 550 yen. The seared squid is served sliced and does not include the tentacles. It comes with mayonnaise and a slice of lemon. The Natto Yaki is a large thin-skinned omelette with natto and green onions cooked inside. The top is fluffy. I found ordering with a smartphone to be quite challenging.

On Friday evening, on my way home, I decided to stop by a restaurant due to the extreme heat. I looked around and noticed that there was a good distance between tables, so I decided to dine in. I was craving a beer, but they only had Asahi Super Dry (which I don't like), so I ordered a Tomato Lemon sour for 490 yen, and it was surprisingly refreshing and tasty. Their specialty Karaage (fried chicken) was delicious, with a small size priced at 380 yen, which was enough for one person. The Stamina skewer platter for 380 yen had a good portion size with 3 skewers. The large quail egg skewer for 180 yen and thick-cut ham cutlet for 330 yen were also great value for money. One thing that stood out was that the dishes were served piping hot, which was really appreciated. The edamame for 280 yen was steaming hot as well. Another positive point was that they didn't have a cover charge, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff were efficient, friendly, and provided great service. The only downside was that they only served Asahi Super Dry beer.

Today's lunch is at Chikuzen-ya Kanda branch. I heard that they used to have a large serving Chicken Nanban set meal in the past, but I didn't see it on the lunch menu board outside. I decided to try the Fried Horse Mackerel set meal instead. The restaurant was about half full when I entered, and I was seated at a counter seat. However, I noticed ashtrays on the tables, and soon the strong smell of cigarette smoke started bothering me. Despite the smell, my Fried Horse Mackerel set meal arrived promptly. It came with 3 pieces of fried horse mackerel, 2 pieces of chicken karage, macaroni salad, a small portion of spaghetti Napolitan, and a generous amount of shredded cabbage. The dish also included tartar sauce and mustard on the side. I quickly finished my meal due to the persistent cigarette smell. The fried horse mackerel and chicken karage were freshly fried and tasty. The miso soup was hearty with ingredients like fried tofu, but the broth was a bit light. The restaurant allowed smoking, which made the dining experience uncomfortable for non-smokers like me. Overall, the food was decent, but the smoking environment significantly affected my enjoyment of the meal.

It's a cheap and generous portion restaurant. I think the main store is in Ningyocho. I highly recommend the "Baka Mori" dish. The restaurant was not crowded due to the coronavirus situation. The fried chicken and salad are also very easy to eat. It's recommended for group outings.

From the east exit of Kanda Station, go right on Chuo Street and you'll find Tsukizatoya above Lawson. It is a chain operated by Customers Delight Co., Ltd. with over 50 stores nationwide. I stopped by alone after 10 pm on a weekday. I went up the stairs next to Lawson to the second floor and entered. There were no counter seats, so I ended up sharing a large table. I started with a draft beer (490 yen excluding tax). It was served in a slim Asahi glass, but the cost-performance ratio was not great. You can order skewers individually, but since the staff seemed busy, I opted for the assorted skewers (780 yen excluding tax). You can choose from salt, umami sauce, or secret Hakata miso sauce. I chose the secret Hakata miso sauce. Before the skewers were ready, my draft beer ran out, so I switched to Hoppy Black (490 yen excluding tax). The amount of shochu was small. The second shochu (200 yen) was slightly more generous. The assorted skewers were cooked to medium-rare. There was no explanation of the skewers, but I believe there were six: beef tongue, beef shoulder, harami (skirt steak), teppo (chicken cartilage), maruchou (pork belly), and pork with green onion. It was definitely more cost-effective than ordering individually. The total bill came to 2,116 yen. Even past midnight, customers kept coming in one after another. It must be the strength of being right in front of the station.

I went to Chikuzenya in Kanda on December 26th. I ordered the Black Curry Set for lunch, which cost 780 yen. It came with cabbage salad and miso soup. It was interesting to have black curry the day after squid ink pasta. There was also fried chicken on top. There were other ingredients in the curry, but I couldn't quite tell what they were. The taste was like regular curry. Thank you for the meal!

Beef tripe hot pot for one person costs 880 yen... Oh, that's cheap! (Orders start from 2 servings). Although I didn't eat that day, they had a unique "tonkotsu" beef tripe hot pot available. The grilled pork skewers had a limited "toro-tan" option sold out, so I settled for the regular tongue. It was chewy and delicious. I ordered the chicken skin with salt, but it came with sauce by mistake. It had a nice charred flavor and was tasty. The "motsu stew" with plenty of green onions was also delicious! Since we only ordered soft drinks that day, the bill came to 4,000 yen for two people. I don't drink much alcohol, so I hope they pay a little more attention to serving the correct drinks, like the mix-up between oolong tea and highball. The atmosphere is like a casual pub, and you may be close to the customers next to you, but if you don't mind that, this place seems to offer great value for money.

I was taken to a New Year's party by my colleague. It seems like a restaurant affiliated with the one used in Doctor X.

The Hoppy set was huge and the yakiton took too long to be served, which was disappointing.
