Cheddar Bob in Wakamatsu Renmachi is a unique salon and izakaya that is only open on Fridays and Saturdays. I saw on their Instagram that they serve Tataki made with Kumamoto's brand beef, Waou. The marbling in the Waou beef looked incredibly delicious, so I decided to take a ferry to Wakato and try it out. The Waou Tataki was so tender and flavorful, it just melted in my mouth, leaving me feeling happy and satisfied. You can enjoy it as Tataki with ponzu sauce or as a steak with salt seasoning, getting two delicious experiences in one. Cheddar Bob also serves other delicious dishes like sashimi. I look forward to visiting every Friday and Saturday.

Cheddar Bob is an izakaya that opened on July 7th, Tanabata Day, in the Wakamatsu Noren Street. It operates only on Fridays and Saturdays. The owner, who usually works as a hairdresser, fulfilled his dream of opening an izakaya on weekends. The street still has the sign of the previous store, Ishii, but it will likely be replaced by Cheddar Bob's sign soon. The owner serves dishes with great care, such as fresh sashimi. Particularly recommended is the bonito sashimi mixed with various condiments. The bonito is grilled 70% and raw 30%, creating a perfect balance. The beef tendon stew is also exceptional, cooked until tender. The cozy and warm atmosphere created by the humble owner and friendly staff makes for a delightful time. The only downside is that the delicious food, cold beer, engaging conversations with the staff and other customers, can lead to drinking too much and missing the last bus and train, as Wakamatsu has limited transportation options. Despite this, it is still possible to take a taxi to Tobata Station for around 1000 yen. It's easy to lose track of time in this enjoyable place.
