In Minami, "Buta Chuka Gyozanchin" opened its second store in Taisho on September 1, 2023. I decided to go eat on the opening day♪
About the restaurant:
The restaurant is located just a 2-3 minute walk straight along the JR viaduct from JR Loop Line "Taisho Station". There are many bars in the area, such as "Nonoya". The interior of the restaurant is long and narrow, with 4 counter seats facing the kitchen and 2 two-seat bench tables, as well as 3 four-seat tables at the back of the restaurant. There are also standing tables outside the restaurant.
I arrived after work around 6 pm, and the restaurant was already full of customers! I was glad I made a reservation in advance. The outside standing tables were also full of customers, so I couldn't take a photo of the exterior of the restaurant.
About the food:
First, I enjoyed a cold beer♪ It was so refreshing to drink a cold beer after work. I almost chugged it down. For my second drink, I had a Black Ball based on Shaoxing wine.
Now, let's talk about the dishes I ate that day:
- Steamed Gyoza: The signature dish of the restaurant. The filling was very moist and had a slightly sweet flavor with a hint of ginger.
- Pork Tenderloin Yukhoe with Red Oil Sauce: A new menu item for the new store. It consisted of sliced pork tenderloin topped with Yukhoe and egg yolk. The meat was rare and tender, with a rich flavor. The Yukhoe had a sticky texture and was well-seasoned with a spicy and sesame flavor. The daikon radish underneath added a crunchy texture.
- Grilled Pork Brain: Another new menu item for the new store. It had a soft and slightly firm texture, with a mild flavor. The sauce used plenty of homemade chili oil, providing a good balance of spiciness and numbing sensation. The dish also had a variety of flavors like ginger, pickled mustard greens, cilantro, pine nuts, and peanuts.
- Grilled Pork Feet: Lastly, I had my favorite dish, the Grilled Pork Feet. The outside was crispy, while the inside was incredibly tender and moist. It was as delicious as always!
In conclusion, the classic dishes like Steamed Gyoza and Grilled Pork Feet were consistently delicious. The new menu items, Pork Tenderloin Yukhoe and Grilled Pork Brain, were also surprisingly tasty. I wanted to try more dishes, but the restaurant was crowded on the opening day, so I decided to have a quick drink and leave. I'll definitely come back when the restaurant is less busy.
Drinks I had that day:
- Draft Beer
- Black Ball (Shaoxing wine-based)
- White Ball (Baijiu-based)
- Chilled Shochu Plain Jasmine (Bottle)
Thank you for the meal!
