There is a shop on Hayao Street that I have always been curious about. It's an izakaya that is usually closed during lunchtime. Yesterday, as I passed by, I noticed a sign saying they are now serving lunch. I decided to visit for lunch right away. I parked my car in the front parking lot and was greeted by the chef as I entered the restaurant. Inside, there was a counter and raised seating area, and I sat at the counter to look at the menu. The lunch menu had soy sauce ramen, salt ramen, and fried rice. Since it was my first time, I ordered the salt ramen. The chef brought me water and a wet towel, and a young man was cooking in the kitchen. While waiting, I was able to chat with the chef, who mentioned that they have been running this izakaya for over 9 years. In less than 5 minutes, my bowl of ramen arrived. I started by tasting the soup, which had a clear and delicious broth made from seafood, with a nice aroma of chopped yuzu peel. Then, I tried the noodles, which were thin curly noodles that paired well with the soup. The toppings included two slices of pork belly chashu, two quail eggs, menma, and spinach. The toppings were also delicious, but the pork belly chashu could have been better if it was warmed up or seared just before serving. It was a bit cold and had a slight greasiness. The quality of the ramen was high, considering they just started serving it for lunch last week. I enjoyed every last drop of it. I am curious about their soy sauce ramen and fried rice, so I plan to visit again soon. Keep up the good work, I'll be rooting for you. The salt ramen cost 750 yen. Thank you for the meal.
