I stopped by on my way back from fishing in Izuminami on Sunday. The restaurant is easy to visit as it is located along the Chuo Kanjo-sen. When I entered the store, I saw various pickles, not just water eggplants. There were about five types of water eggplants alone. Among them, I always buy the pickled water eggplants in rice bran as a souvenir. I take them out of the rice bran, wash them with water, cut them lengthwise, and eat them. This time, I felt that the pickling was a bit shallow because I took them out too quickly, but they tasted delicious when I added soy sauce. I pickle cucumbers in the remaining rice bran and eat them the next day. (lol)

I stopped by around 11:55. Previous customer: 1 rice ball + 2 rice balls. Next customer: 0. Pickled cucumber slices x 1. It's refreshing and light. Daikon radish and shiso leaf pickles x 1. A refreshing pickled daikon with a fragrant shiso aroma. It has a crunchy texture. Kelp furikake x 1. Came for the bottle... can be used for various dishes, not just furikake.

I visited the pickles shop "Iseya Shokuhin" located along the Chuo Ring Road right above the Sankawa Line in Sakai City. They sell pickles made from local vegetables that have been around in Izumi no Kuni for a long time. For details on the menu, atmosphere, and recommended points of the shop, please check Instagram, LINE Official, or Facebook on your smartphone. If you are using a computer, please check the URL under "This review was posted from a blog".

Located along the Chuo Circular Line, there is a pickles shop called "Iseya." In early summer, they start selling pickled water eggplants. Inside the shop, you can find a variety of pickles such as daikon radish, mizuna greens, turnips, and more. They also have kimchi and chanja. The recommended item is definitely the water eggplant pickled in rice bran. It's a shame to eat it right after buying, so I usually wait for about 2 days before enjoying it. You can also use the leftover rice bran to make pickled cucumbers or as an ingredient for rice bran packs. They offer nationwide shipping, making it a perfect thank-you gift for someone you appreciate.

I received this as a souvenir. It was water eggplant with shiso leaves... light and delicious. The chopped shiso leaves inside added a nice flavor. It was a different experience from pickled in vinegar or pickled in rice bran... If I have the chance, I would like to have it again.

Today, I felt like having pickles again and wanted to try something different. I found it - pickled corn! I bought it and took it home. It's pickled in sweet vinegar but the corn itself is sweet, so the sweetness remains even after pickling. It was not just delicious, but a unique and enjoyable experience. I would definitely buy it again if I find it next time. I also bought pickled Kaga cucumbers. In Kaga, do they call them cucumbers? In Osaka, they are like melons, and when I added a little soy sauce, it was amazing. Thank you for the meal.

I was too tired to go out to eat, so I decided to buy some pickles on my way home and have ochazuke. I stopped by this place and bought pickled melon, which is in season now, and also pickled yam, which I had tried before and enjoyed. Both were perfect for ochazuke and very delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back again.

I received "takana-zuke" and "moromi" from "Tsukemono Iseya" as a thank you for the side dishes from a neighbor. Even though they didn't have to go through the trouble, people from the old days are so considerate. I feel bad in return. Anyway, I decided to enjoy them right away. The takana-zuke has a subtle aroma of sesame oil, and the spiciness of red chili pepper goes well with it, making it so delicious with rice. I felt a friendship beyond just being a companion to rice. The moromi has large pieces of eggplant that resemble Nara-zuke, with a sweet taste. It feels more like a companion to egg over rice. Both were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Yesterday, I was drinking at a friend's house during the day, so I felt tired and one person got really drunk, so we decided to call it a night. Later in the evening, I thought about going out for drinks and food again, but I changed my mind. I decided to take a little break from alcohol today. I went to buy pickles from Iseya, thinking it would be nice to have ochazuke. I bought pickled yam, pickled turnip, and shiba-zuke. I had all three with warm ochazuke and felt grateful to be born Japanese. The pickled yam had a great texture, and the pickled turnip had a nice acidity. Eating pickles and ochazuke really helped me relax, both mentally and physically. Sometimes, it's necessary to do something like this. Thank you for the delicious meal. The pickles were amazing. I will definitely go buy them again.

After having lunch, I noticed a pickle shop called Iseya diagonally in front of me, so I headed there. I had a conversation with my mother about pickles last month and she mentioned that the pickled eggplant was delicious, so I had bookmarked this shop on my food review app. When I entered the shop, the air conditioning was working well, maintaining the temperature suitable for the products. I found the pickled eggplant with rice bran and the apple vinegar pickles I was looking for, and bought two of each for my relatives. At the checkout, they offered me a sample of the apple vinegar pickles. The sweetness of the apple vinegar, the thin skin of the eggplant, and the freshness made it easy to eat and delicious. I also tried a sample of the salted pickles, which had no sweetness and were more suited for adults. Even though it was a sample, I almost wanted to buy some with a bowl of rice in my hand (laughs). As I left the shop, the sun was shining and I was a bit overwhelmed by the temperature difference between the shop and outside, but I was happy to have bought cheap and delicious pickles and hurried back home.

One of my favorite pickles is "bettarazuke," a slightly sweet pickle that is delicious. I had it with a takeout eel bowl. The sweetness of the pickle goes well with the eel sauce. I also enjoyed some "Senshu eggplant," a vegetable grown in the Senshu region of Osaka with thin and juicy skin. I love pickles, and the meal was delicious. Thank you!

"There are so many different things here." What I found at this store on this day were various pickled dishes made with a rare type of eggplant called Mizunasu. While typical Japanese eggplants are not suitable for raw consumption due to their strong bitterness, Mizunasu, which is particularly cultivated in the Senshu region of Osaka Prefecture, has less bitterness and can be eaten raw as it contains a lot of water. I had tried pickled Mizunasu at Japanese restaurants in the past, but had never purchased it myself. On this day in August, I went to a pickled vegetable shop in Sakai that was recommended to me by an acquaintance to look for pickled Mizunasu. As expected, the shop had a variety of pickled Mizunasu with different seasonings. On that day, they were also selling a special type of Mizunasu called "Babanasu," which is a rare, slender type of Mizunasu pickled in rice bran. I bought the apple vinegar and red wine pickled Mizunasu, as well as the "Babanasu" rice bran pickled Mizunasu. When I tried the pickles at home, the most impressive thing was how easy they were to eat. Unlike regular eggplant pickles, which often have tough and thick skin, the Mizunasu pickles had thin skin and tender flesh, making them easy to eat. Especially the "Babanasu" rice bran pickled Mizunasu was surprisingly easy to bite into, and the fact that the skin was softer than regular Mizunasu made sense. In terms of flavor, the apple vinegar and red wine pickled Mizunasu had a subtly different taste when savored closely, but overall, both had a refreshing and mild flavor without any bitterness. As for the "Babanasu" rice bran pickled Mizunasu, I found it to be quite elegant compared to other rice bran pickles I had tried in the past. While they also had pickled cucumbers, radishes, and Chinese cabbage, I would recommend trying the seasonal limited edition Mizunasu pickles if you visit in the summer.

I came to purchase the highest-grade Baba eggplant among the various types of eggplants in Quanzhou today. It is directly connected to the factory, so I was able to see the legendary eggplant up close! They only sold pickled eggplants, but I was able to get some. When I bought the simple water eggplant, the staff gave me two cucumber pickles as well! Thank you for your thoughtfulness. As for the taste - I was impressed by the freshness. It was so juicy that it almost felt like a fruit rather than an eggplant. I take my hat off to this amazing dish!
