I went to a sauna in Osaka on Sunday afternoon and then headed to a restaurant for a break after three sets of New Japan. I ordered just one beer and some edamame. It was quite empty as it was between lunch and dinner time. Thank you for the meal.

You may already know that New Japan (Capsule Inn Osaka) was the first in the world to create capsule hotels. They also brought the common practice of "rotenburo" (outdoor baths) to Kansai. The origins of New Japan can be traced back to the "Cabaret Hinomaru" in Shinsekai, which started around 1930. After a fire during wartime, they relocated to Namba and opened a cabaret called "Monte Carlo." Later, they opened another cabaret called "Reijo Pool" on the site of a former movie theater in Dotonbori. They expanded by purchasing the adjacent land and opened "Turkey Center," which eventually became the New Japan Dotonbori main store. The sauna at New Japan Dotonbori was known for its exceptional service, with staff assisting with hair washing and even brushing teeth for customers. I have experienced all three levels of saunas at New Japan Dotonbori, where the highest tier included massages with an entrance fee of over 30,000 yen. However, my recent visit to New Japan Umeda was my first experience there. While the Dotonbori location catered more to businesspeople, the Umeda facility was geared towards salaried workers. I visited the sauna paradise in Osaka Umeda, "NEW JAPAN UMEDA". I tried their sauna meals, which included curry rice for 600 yen and ramen for 680 yen. It's just a 10-minute walk from Osaka Station. The spacious sauna facility has both high and low-temperature saunas, as well as a large hot spring pool, making it a place where you can spend the whole day without getting bored. After enjoying the sauna, it's time for sauna meals. I ordered a beer to quench my thirst and looked at the menu. There were plenty of options, including snacks and alcoholic drinks. When I can't decide, I usually go for soy sauce ramen or curry rice. Both are simple but distinctive dishes. I ordered both as there was no half curry option, and it came with a salad like a set menu. The curry rice was unique with its bouncy and collagen-rich texture. The meat and vegetables were finely chopped. The ramen had bean sprouts, thick menma, and round ham-like chashu. The soup was flavorful and nostalgic, and the noodles were chewy. Both dishes may look simple, but they each had their own unique characteristics. I wish I could have savored the sauna and sauna meals more, but it gives me something to look forward to next time! So, reluctantly leaving the restaurant, I can say that it's currently the most recommended sauna facility!

I recently stayed in Osaka for a business trip and chose a hotel with a sauna. This time, I stayed at a capsule hotel. It was nice because it was quiet and I could sleep well without any noise disturbances. The sauna facilities were also good! I also got a free drink voucher with my massage after using the sauna. I ordered a highball, which came in a large glass. It was decently priced and tasted good, although I wouldn't have minded if it was a bit stronger. Overall, it was a good experience.

So, instead of taking the underground path from Osaka Station to Whity, I walked above ground through the shopping street in Doyama, and arrived at Sauna New Japan, a well-known sauna establishment in the area known for its transgender shops. This place is a pioneer in Japanese sauna culture. The building is modern and clean, with a large reindeer head displayed at the entrance. This sauna follows the Kansai tradition of wearing pants while bathing, and the facilities are top-notch. They offer various saunas like mist, low and high temperature, Finnish-style sauna, hot baths, electric baths, hinoki baths, and vibrating baths. There is also a spacious warm water pool and the famous Osaka spiral staircase. The low-temperature sauna has a planetarium-like setting with fast-paced background music, perfect for relaxing. The high-temperature sauna is spacious and even broadcasts high school baseball games at over 100 degrees Celsius. The Finnish-style sauna allows for a silent self-pouring experience. The cold water baths are at 18 and 12 degrees Celsius, and the third floor features a barrel bath at 18 degrees. The water falls like a waterfall, providing a refreshing experience without the need to submerge completely. After a 50-minute massage, you can enjoy a complimentary drink at the adjacent restaurant. I tried the Acryl for the first time this visit, which is just a mix of Aquarius and real gold. Magazines like Daily, Golf Digest, and Nikkan are available for reading. After refreshing myself, I found that I had lost 0.7kg compared to before entering the sauna. However, I ended up eating a lot afterwards and gained it back.

On August 6, 2017 in Osaka. I decided to freshen up before taking a night bus back home, so I went to "Umeda Sauna New Japan". It cost 1,600 yen for 3 hours. I sweated it out in the sauna on the rooftop open-air bath floor. I entered the sauna for 10 minutes and then cooled off in the cold water bath. I repeated this process four times. Hmm. I feel like I got rid of all the toxins. After feeling refreshed in the bath, I had a drink at the dining area. - Draft beer set: 900 yen (draft beer + sweet shrimp tempura) - Highball: 500 yen The draft beer had a nice foam and tasted amazing after being in the bath! The highball was a bit weak, but overall, I'm satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

Osaka people really love saunas, don't they? Instead of going for a drink after work, some salarymen opt for naked socializing at the sauna. When it comes to saunas in Umeda, many people think of either Taiyo or Umeda Sauna New Japan. The system at Umeda Sauna New Japan is such that if you don't opt for a massage package, you pay afterwards, receive a locker key, and enter. The layout is well-designed, with a corridor-style structure. On the first floor locker room, you change into swim trunks and head to the Spa & Healing area. Here, you can relax in a warm water pool (like a big jacuzzi), wet saunas, and dry saunas while chatting with companions. Going up to the second floor, you enter the bathing area where you can enjoy baths and scrubbing. After that, you can return to the Spa & Healing area in a gown and enter the Beach Bar for drinks and food. The staff, who look like they could be celebrities, are two slender, cute girls with long, silky hair, wearing bikini tops and shorts. When I visited, the girls were even cuter than the ones in the link provided. The entrance fee starts from around 800 yen for the basic option. It's a fun experience to talk about!
