Located in Gion Machi Gin Ten Street, there is a shop called "Tsuyachan". Next to it is a diner called "Asahiya", with separate entrances but connected somehow. The chopstick sleeves are labeled "Asahiya Tsuyachan". It seems that "Asahiya" is open for lunch and "Tsuyachan" for dinner. One day after work, almost all the shops in Gin Ten Street were closed, except for a shop with a red light. Inside, there is an L-shaped counter seat and a tatami room in the back. It has a cozy izakaya atmosphere with a TV where everyone was watching a baseball game. The proprietress welcomed me to a quiet seat by the corner, which turned out to have a half-blocked view of the TV due to a pillar (haha). The menu is mainly izakaya dishes with yakitori and one-coin Western food. I ordered the following dishes and had a sweet potato shochu "Kuro Kirishima": - Mackerel simmered: Clean and tasty simmered mackerel with a good soy sauce and ginger flavor, no fishy taste. - Nira-tama: Stir-fried chives and bacon mixed with beaten eggs, a quick and delicious dish. - Beef tendon stew: A bit tough beef tendon stew with konjac, challenging to chew. - Mapo tofu: A sweet and spicy Japanese-style mapo tofu, homey and delicious. The bill came to 2700 yen for 4 shochu drinks and 4 dishes, around 350 yen each. The proprietress was friendly and the regular customers had a good rapport with her. The atmosphere became quieter as some customers left, including a man who seemed to be using the shop's Wi-Fi. He kindly greeted me before I left. It was a nice place for everyday dining.
