I stopped by to buy some drinks like milk coffee at Meiji-ya, which has a wide variety of products. The prices are somewhat higher than a regular supermarket, but the quality is good. The food is generally well-received, with some items being delicious and others just okay. This time, I would say the taste was "good." I visited Namba Takashimaya for the first time in a while and stopped by Meijiya Store. They have some coffee-flavored karinto that looked delicious, so I decided to try it. The coffee aroma was not as strong as I expected, and the bitterness was subtle. It had a light sweetness and not too greasy. It was different from the usual rich black sugar flavor, with a lighter texture. Overall, it was a tasty treat. Thank you for the meal!

Coffee is what I usually drink when I want to relax, but I prefer drinking tea in the morning. I usually drink organic tea from a friend in Narakatsugase Village, but I also love the tea sold at Meijiya. It's not always easy to find, so I used to buy it online, but when I found it at the Meijiya in Namba Takashimaya, I was so excited. They have Yorkshire Gold and Yorkshire Earl Grey, but I prefer the simple Yorkshire Tea. It's a pack of 40 tea bags for only 880 yen, and the colors and aroma are lovely. Meijiya has a great selection of snacks too, like the smoked silver Okaki that I always buy. This time, I bought some different flavors - wasabi and red ginger. The red ginger Okaki is a bit addictive, with a hint of sweetness. It doesn't really go well with tea, so I enjoyed it with some cold-brewed green tea instead.

I was looking for a product that I bought at the co-op before, but couldn't find it anywhere. I thought I would have to order it from the manufacturer. But then, I found it at Namba Takashimaya basement! I was so happy and now whenever I go to Namba, I buy it. Today, I rushed to buy it after my acupuncture session. I ate too much for lunch and took a walk along the Kamogawa River. Ate too much for dinner as well, and took a stroll in a drizzling Dotonbori. Recently, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori feel like Shanghai with so many foreigners around. Many old shops have disappeared and it's all drugstores now. Well, it's good that the economy is thriving, but still. I bought Ibushi Gin. It's really tasty, with soy sauce and salt flavors available. It costs 350 yen. I can't eat it today, so maybe I'll enjoy it with roasted green tea or beer when I get back to my home in Kyoto tomorrow. It's a shame they don't sell it at Kyoto Takashimaya.

Meiji-ya, the store in Motomachi that I used to visit, has closed down. The service was not very friendly, but for some reason I felt nostalgic about this place. I found out that there is a shop in Namba, so I decided to buy something from the Meiji-ya brand. I remember their shaved ice brand, but I don't need it anymore. I opted for the healthy Carrot Juice instead, which is made from 100% carrots. It costs 162 yen including tax. When you drink it, you can taste the natural sweetness of the carrots, which makes it surprisingly easy to drink and delicious.

I've been searching for SB's habanero sauce for days at various supermarkets, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I heard that it was sold at the now-closed Sogo Namba in Namba. I looked around the food section at Takashimaya department store in Namba, but it was nowhere to be found. The staff at the store asked around, and although they didn't have SB's habanero sauce, they had a habanero sauce called "MEIDI-YA" next to the shelf with various hot sauces. I bought the Tabasco-made habanero sauce, which has a unique acidity followed by a gradually increasing spiciness. Honestly, it didn't go well with curry, but it seems good for pizza or pasta with its moderate spiciness. The Knockout Habanero Sauce is about twice as spicy as the normal one, but thankfully it didn't knock me out.

There is a large selection of bread at Takaki Bakery, which is rare compared to other places like Seijo Ishii. They offer a variety of pastries, bagged bread, and even authentic hard bread at affordable prices. The selection mainly consists of sweet bread, but they also have items like ciabatta and bagels, as well as simple meal bread. The Walnut and Raisin bread for 289 yen had a dense texture, which was disappointing. It seemed like it would be tastier if it was baked again. The outer crust was crispy and fragrant, but the inside was light and lacked moisture, resulting in a texture that was not to my liking. The walnuts were crunchy and the raisins were plump, which was a shame. There were other varieties like ciabatta available, but if this is the base dough, it may be hard to try other options.

I went to Takashimaya just before closing. I was surprised to see a Meijiya inside. The bread was 20% off, but the original prices seemed a bit high. With the discount, it finally became affordable for the average person, like convenience store prices. I bought three types of bread: Raisin French (5 pieces), Rye & Apple Roll (6 pieces), and Custard Cream Bread. The Raisin French can be eaten as is, but it's slightly dry and lacking in raisins. I microwaved it and spread margarine on it, but it was a bit disappointing. The Rye & Apple Roll was the least flavorful and also slightly dry. The texture of the rye grains inside the fluffy bread was not to my liking. It felt like biting into a bone while eating a side dish or a hard piece of rice in a bowl of rice. The Custard Cream bread, however, was delicious. The cream was tasty, and the caramel bitterness balanced out the sweetness. The amount of cream was just right. The variety of bread seemed limited, but I'll keep an eye out for it. I think I've seen "Takaki Bakery" at Seijo Ishii as well. Perhaps they specialize in supplying bread to such stores.

I received a souvenir from Mairevi-san whom I met again at Hozenshiji Temple after a long time♪ It was a snack made with pickled ginger( ^ω^ ) Pickled ginger is a must-have item for people from Osaka❤️ But not everything can be turned into a snack, right? (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾ I'm quite picky about these kinds of opportunistic products (￣^￣)ゞ But since I received it, I decided to enjoy it with beer... Oh, it tastes so much like pickled ginger haha. Unlike other imitations, this snack really has a strong pickled ginger flavor♪ The taste was so strong that I ended up drinking one more beer than planned, oops (//∇//) Nowadays, you can't underestimate snacks. I've bought more expensive pineapple jam before, but this one has a richer flavor and tastes better. - Meijiya My Jam Fruit Sensation Puchi Puchi Kiwi Fruit: ¥192 - Contains artificial flavors and colors, but the color is pretty, so I bought it along with the pineapple jam. In our humble household, our staple jam is Aohata. We have 10-12 spreads for breakfast, including 4 types of jam. So, it's important to have a variety. Aohata doesn't have pineapple or kiwi, but Meijiya's My Jam has them. Are they filling the gap left by Aohata? The staff at the company gave me chocolates saying "from 3 people's feelings," "for lunch," and "it's okay for dinner." The message card had a similar message. The chocolates were Vengi Cubic Box, with half-baked chocolates inside. There were two flavors, matcha and chocolate, and they were delicious. It seems like A-chan, who loves food, has a preference for these chocolates. I tried both flavors and they were really good. I did some research online and decided to post about it. The cake is made with eggs and milk, baked to perfection. It's soft like a castella cake and melts in your mouth. ◆ Lemon Castella for 140 yen. It has a hint of lemon fragrance, soft and fluffy.
