Before going to work, I stopped by Kyodo's Paopao and bought the spring new item "Bamboo Shoot and Shrimp Dumplings" (limited to 20 servings at the Kyodo store). The crispy bamboo shoots and juicy shrimp make it impossible not to be delicious. (laughs) You can also choose from 3 types of dipping sauce, which adds a bit of fun. I chose the regular ponzu flavor, but when I tried it with the green curry I brought back from Momotai in the station, it was also delicious. These dumplings allow you to enjoy different flavors. Since it's a limited-time product, I want to buy and eat it again while I can. (from "Usanpobiyo")

"PAOPAO" is a popular takeout restaurant in department stores and Ecute shops in the Tokyo metropolitan area. They offer freshly made dim sum such as shumai, nikuman, and gyoza. One of my favorite locations is the Shinjuku store in Keio Department Store. At each "PAOPAO" store, the shumai is wrapped and steamed on-site. You can purchase shumai individually, with options like: "Japanese pork and sticky rice shumai" for 87 yen each, "Shrimp shumai" for 108 yen each, "Scallop shumai" for 130 yen each, and "Black pork shumai" for 119 yen each. If you want to try a variety, they offer a "4 types of shumai set" for 1253 yen, which includes 3 pieces each of pork, shrimp, scallop, and black pork shumai, making it a slightly better deal than buying them separately. On the 15th of every month, they have a special promotion called "PAOPAO Day" for even more savings. The classic "Japanese pork and sticky rice shumai" has a chewy texture, with a meaty and bouncy filling. The "Black pork shumai" is a bit more expensive but has exceptional meaty flavor. Comparing it to the "Japanese pork and sticky rice" shumai adds a touch of luxury. The "Shrimp shumai" was a pleasant surprise for me when I tried it recently after a long time. The shrimp is not only on top but also mixed into the filling, giving it a bouncy texture. The "Scallop shumai" has also increased its scallop flavor compared to the past. Both shrimp and scallop shumai have added a touch of luxury. Another favorite of mine, besides shumai, is the "Japanese pork and sticky rice nikuman" for 216 yen. It has a rich and flavorful filling with mushrooms, giving it a Chinatown-style taste that you wouldn't expect for just around 200 yen. When it comes to nikuman and shumai, the famous "551 Horai" from Osaka is well-known with long lines during events. Although they are different styles, the nikuman from "PAOPAO" is equally delicious and highly recommended.

In the basement of Keio Department Store in Shinjuku, there is a popular dim sum shop where it is not uncommon to see long lines. You can purchase shumai and gyoza individually, which is convenient. The basic "Pork and Sticky Rice Shumai" costs 87 yen each including tax, or 648 yen for 8 pieces. Buying in larger quantities may result in a slight discount, although the discount amount is small. The basic "Stamina Gyoza" costs 76 yen each including tax, or 638 yen for 10 pieces. This time, I purchased Pork and Sticky Rice Shumai, Shrimp Shumai, Black Pork Shumai, and Stamina Gyoza. I prefer the meat shumai over the shrimp shumai. The saltiness is just right. I think there isn't much difference in taste between the Pork and Sticky Rice Shumai at 87 yen and the Black Pork Shumai at 119 yen. The gyoza is a type where you can taste the meat more prominently. I prefer the gyoza over the shumai. The shumai and gyoza I purchased this time were overall flavorful, and I didn't use the sauce that came with them at all. Since the coronavirus outbreak, I have significantly reduced dining out and have been relying more on convenience foods. I hope for the day to come soon when we can dine out with peace of mind.

I went to a shumai shop in the basement of Keio Department Store in Shinjuku, and the delicious smell made me decide to have shumai for dinner tonight. I bought shumai to go, with four different flavors: Japanese pork and sticky rice shumai, shrimp shumai, black pork shumai, and scallop shumai. They were all so delicious and went well with rice! I also bought some dumplings, which were also very tasty!

Popular meat buns are sold at the food floor on the basement first floor of Keio Department Store. Compared to convenience store meat buns or frozen food meat buns, they are overwhelmingly delicious. The amount of meat inside is different. They are packed full of meat, very voluminous! I think the regular meat bun is my favorite. It costs 216 yen.

As expected, the appearance is normal (・ω・`). When it comes to items like nikuman (steamed pork bun), you realize that the ones from a restaurant are different from the ones at convenience stores or supermarkets. But when it comes to shumai (steamed dumplings), they are not as common. That's what I realized once again.

Recently, I've been indulging in all-you-can-eat meals, so I decided to change things up and go for quality over quantity. I wanted to eat what I really wanted to eat, so I came to Keio Department Store for a solo food festival. I wandered around the food floor and bought only what I really wanted to eat. Among the various items I bought, I started with these. Meat buns, shumai, and dumplings from a dim sum shop. There were several types of meat buns and shumai, but I chose the most basic ones. First, the shumai. They were slightly larger than usual, but priced at only 80 yen each, which was quite reasonable. I took a bite. The filling was full of meat and the skin was smooth. This was definitely delicious. The price was also justified. Next, the meat bun. Again, the meat filling was rich and the skin was firm. Delicious. It felt like a better deal compared to convenience store options.

I especially enjoyed the cheese shumai, which was unique and made me want to have more. [Service] Chopsticks, dipping sauce, and a wet towel were provided in addition to the food. [Cost Performance] The shumai was generously sized and reasonably priced.

This time I got takeout from PaoPao-san's deli. I often see PaoPao-san around but hadn't bought anything before, so I had high expectations. I bought a set of meat buns and shumai, as well as a set of dumplings. On that day, the shumai set was a good deal at 1000 yen. The meat buns were quite large and heavy, not fluffy but rather substantial. When you bite into it, the dough is not fluffy but rather heavy, so it's quite filling. The filling was normal, with ingredients like bamboo shoots and a crunchy texture like leeks. The sweetness was mild. The dumplings had zero crispiness, more like a chewy texture similar to boiled dumplings. They were lightly seasoned with chives and another flavor. They were juicy. As for the shumai, they were delicious. The price felt a bit high, but each piece was large. The flavors of shrimp, scallop, black pork, and regular pork were distinct and tasty. Shrimp and scallop were not light as expected, but had a strong flavor. Pork was sweet and standard, while black pork was juicy. The shumai was juicy and delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I arrived at the store before evening. It is located on the basement floor of Keio Department Store. Today, I bought 2 meat buns. There was still a long line as usual. I only had to wait for a few minutes. One good thing about this place is that even when you line up, you don't have to wait too long. Behind the store, staff members were silently making meat buns. Recently, you can heat them up in the microwave while still in the box, which is convenient. I enjoyed the hot meat buns. They are packed with meat. The price seems to have gone up recently, but even so, it is a dish I want to eat. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go buy them again.

My partner bought a pack of 4 types of dumplings for me to try. It included scallop dumplings, regular dumplings, shrimp dumplings, and black pork dumplings. I tried all 4 types. - Scallop Dumplings: These were light and easy to eat, similar to the ones from Sakai Koken. Rating: 3.5 - Regular Dumplings: These were soft and easy to eat. Rating: 3.2 - Shrimp Dumplings: I was expecting more shrimp flavor, but it was a bit disappointing. Rating: 3 - Black Pork Dumplings: I was hoping for more sweetness from the black pork, but it was not as flavorful as I expected. Rating: 3.2 Overall, the scallop dumplings were my favorite this time. Thank you for the meal!

☆January 2016 - Second visit today. I waited in line patiently, but it was worth it. I managed to eat two meat buns again. Delicious food is always delicious. The box they put them in is microwave-safe now, so I can enjoy them warm at home. ☆First visit - I heard it was delicious, so I bought some on the same day. Located on the basement floor of Keio Shinjuku store. I waited in a reasonable line and bought two meat buns. I thought it might be too much, but I enjoyed them at home with a highball drink while watching the Nadeshiko Japan game. Out of all the meat buns I've tried in Chinatown, these are the best. The meat is juicy, flavorful, and the bun is just right. And all for only 200 yen including tax, with change back. They were so delicious that I ended up eating both. I will definitely be a repeat customer. It was really delicious. I will go buy more. Thank you for the meal.

It's kind of scary going to the department store basement in the evening, but I went in excitedly. The meat buns looked delicious, so I bought one for around 180 yen. The dumplings were only 75 yen each, so I got one as well (lol). When I got home, they were still warm! I heated them up in the microwave. The big meat bun had a lot of filling and was really juicy. The dough was soft and quite thick. The dumplings had a strong garlic and chive flavor, which was a bit surprising, but just right.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of shumai, but I really like the shumai here because it doesn't give me indigestion. It's located in the basement of Keio Department Store. There's usually a short line, but you can get your order in about 5 minutes. Today, they have a special set for 1000 yen, which includes 4 pieces each of pork shumai, black pork shumai, and shrimp shumai. It's a great deal. They start selling it at 4:00 PM. I brought it home, wrapped it in plastic wrap, and heated it up. The shrimp shumai is delicious, and the black pork shumai is juicy and tasty. It's so good that you wouldn't even think it's takeout. Thank you for the meal!

Today, the greedy housewife gathering♪ The greedy housewives are all full from eating so much, so they don't feel like preparing dinner tonight. In times like these, let's rely on "Pao Pao" for help! After 3 o'clock, Pao Pao is packed with people...but the customer service flow is well organized, so even though there's a line, you can buy without waiting, it's a miracle. This time, the recommended items are the pork shumai (12 pieces for 760 yen) and meat buns (160 yen each x 2). They are freshly made and hot. Let's take them straight to the dining table. I'll reheat them a bit. The meat buns and shumai are big. You can't fit the shumai in one bite! Of course, the meat buns too. The juicy meat juices go "juwawawa." The meat bun dough is also delicious. When you're in trouble for dinner, this is the answer! Since it's a multi-store chain, if you come across it, I highly recommend it. I also want to buy it next time I'm in trouble.

"Pao Pao" is a specialty shop for dim sum dishes (shumai, gyoza, meat buns), all handmade and served fresh. They offer a limited quantity of 100 freshly baked seafood buns for 250 yen each. The buns have a nice crispy bottom and are filled with shrimp, crab, and scallops, allowing you to enjoy the distinct flavors of each seafood. They have a light and savory taste. Another recommended item is the sweet potato steamed bun, made with black rice skin and a sweet potato filling, giving it a healthy and satisfying taste.
