This is a seafood bowl restaurant located in Ryogoku with a rating of 3.03 on Tabelog. I have been eating at Donmaru quite often lately, but this was my first time at the Ryogoku branch. I had some work in the area and decided to have lunch here. The menu seems to be similar to other Donmaru branches, with prices also at 540 yen. Unlike other branches where you order from outside the counter, this branch has a spacious interior which makes waiting more comfortable, especially during bad weather. I ordered a chirashi bowl which was listed as a new menu item, and I was impressed by the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The cost performance is still high as always.

I grabbed a takeout for lunch when I was short on time. I chose a tuna rice bowl this time. It was fresh and the taste was decent. But what stood out the most was the price - very cheap. For this price and quality, I think it's satisfying. I would like to use this place again if I have the chance.

When you feel like eating fish, you can order here! The menu has so many options that I always have a hard time deciding what to eat because there are so many choices and I never get tired of it! There is a music corner in the store that seems to be the manager's hobby, and it's quite intriguing! I would like to have a leisurely chat there!

I sometimes use it when I stop by both countries. It's best not to have high expectations because the price is low, but the quality is consistent and reliable. It seems to be a local specialty, but I recommend the dish called "Ryokoku-don."

Reasonable prices and large portions. It's a good place for takeout when you're short on time.

I am a resident of Yokozuna Yokochō! Hello! Located along Kiyosumi Street, near the intersection of Ryoku Ichichōme, is Sasafune Donmaru. A sushi restaurant that started serving ocean bowls. With over 60 different seafood bowls priced at 500 yen each (excluding tax). Donmaru has locations all across Japan, but each owner operates independently, resulting in variations in the types and seasonings of the bowls. The specialty of the Ryōgoku branch is the daily "Ryōgoku bowl". The contents are decided daily through phone calls with the market. On this day, the Ryōgoku bowl included tuna, cured mackerel, squid, minced tuna with green onions, salmon, and conger eel. Each type of fish comes in two pieces. Pour some soy sauce over it and enjoy it all at once. The bowl is surprisingly deep, and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. It's a convenient option for a quick and tasty seafood bowl.

Donburi chain restaurant, Donmaru, offers a variety of seafood bowls at a uniform price. On days with a "0" in them, you can enjoy a discount of 45 yen off the regular price, making the Fish Market Bowl (700 yen) available for 700 yen on those days. It comes with a generous amount of negitoro, sea urchin, squid, tuna, and salmon roe. The freshness of the ingredients is top-notch. While the sea urchin may not be the same quality as what you would find at a sushi restaurant, considering the price, it's definitely satisfying. The sushi rice is well-seasoned with vinegar, complementing the toppings nicely.

"I love 'Donburi' and I am on a mission to try as many Donburi restaurants as possible all over Japan. Whenever I see one and can buy it, I make sure to do so. This time, I had been eating in Kameido and Kinshicho, and decided to walk to Shinjuku from Ryogoku station via the Kyobashi-dori street. While walking, I was thinking 'I want to eat sushi' and wondered if there was a Donburi restaurant nearby. That's when I stumbled upon this place! I immediately bought it without hesitation. When I come to Donburi places, I cannot miss the salmon. However, just having salmon in the bowl feels lonely, so I asked for the recommendation. They suggested the 'Ryogoku Donburi' which has both salmon and bonito. I ordered it for 540 yen. As usual, I declined the chopsticks and soy sauce, and they gave me a complimentary soup with three flavors (bonito, matsutake mushroom, yuzu). The bowl included 1 piece each of duck, bonito, and tamago, 2 pieces each of salmon, tuna, and squid. The bonito came with grated ginger and chopped green onions. The rice vinegar was a bit strong this time. The fish was all fresh and delicious, especially the salmon. The duck had a nice fatty flavor, but upon closer inspection, it seemed a bit frozen. Overall, it was a tasty and interesting bowl. The service here was also good. I have always liked the service at Donburi places. The previous places had female cashiers, but this one had an older man and a young man. By the way, I noticed a restaurant nearby with a big sign that said 'Gyoza', so I approached and it turned out to be 'Kameido Gyoza Ryogoku Branch'. I had actually just eaten Kameido Gyoza in Kameido recently, but I couldn't resist checking out this place too. Now, I wonder which Donburi restaurant and what kind of bowl I will encounter next. Exciting!"

This is a takeout-only seafood bowl restaurant along Kiyosumi Street. It is located near the Edo-Tokyo Museum and Ryogoku Station on the south side. I often visit the shop in Oshiage, but this is my first time at this location. Sumo wrestlers were seen buying food here. The seafood bowl costs 525 yen. There are over 70 menu items, but I always end up ordering the seafood bowl. The seafood bowl contains squid, scallops, tuna, salmon, cured mackerel, shrimp, and salmon roe, offering a variety of flavors. It is a reliable choice.

Downtown I started to see a takeout seafood bowl shop that caught my attention. All items are priced at 525 yen, and there are 70 varieties of sushi bowls with the title "Ocean Bowl" that the sushi restaurant started. I had trouble parking in the area, so I missed out on buying it, but I finally made a purchase. This branch opened on October 22, 2010. December 2010: - Conger eel bowl: 3 stars Slices of conger eel are placed on top and drizzled with sauce and white sesame seeds. The sauce seeped into the rice, and the conger eel was slightly firm. When lightly warmed in the microwave, the conger eel became slightly plump. Be careful not to overdo it, as it may affect the sushi rice taste. - Tuna offcuts: 2 stars 100g for 300 yen. Since the rice portion in the bowl was too much for one elderly person, I opted for a large serving bowl for one person and tried separating the sashimi from the rice to eat. I don't like leaving rice behind, but the tuna offcuts were just okay. I forgot that I felt the same way last time. *Note: Be sure to take home a new menu sheet. In the previous review with no stars, I wrote extensively about the "Conger Eel Tsukedaru Porch Bowl", so be careful!! November 2010: - Medium fatty tuna offcuts bowl: 2.5 stars I thought that with offcuts, I would be able to enjoy various parts, but there were some edges and sinew. Not very impressive. - Conger eel chirashi bowl: 3 stars I chose this over the conger eel only bowl because the chirashi bowl seemed to have shrimp, sakura denbu, and cucumber in it. It turns out that I might actually prefer the conger eel only bowl as there were too many cucumbers hidden under the conger eel. First purchase in November 2010: - Donmaru Bowl: 1 star Tuna, salmon, squid, and negitoro sashimi. The slices are large and the portion is generous. The quality of the rice is mediocre, but the quantity is okay. The quality of the tuna and squid is decent, but the salmon is lacking. However, for 525 yen, it's acceptable. The negitoro, on the other hand, has a weak tuna flavor and too much oil mixed in. I wish they would improve the quality of the rice, even if it means raising the price by a few hundred yen. - Conger eel marinated porch bowl: No stars The conger eel and tuna are reminiscent of cheap conveyor belt sushi. The 525 yen bowl is fine, but the porch... it tastes like a disinfectant. This is just my personal opinion, but the porch is large and completely white, so it's not flounder. It might be blackfin flounder or olive flounder. The quantity is large, but I don't want to eat it. Sometimes, with cheap conveyor belt sushi, I can't help but taste a bleach-like flavor. Oh no, maybe I shouldn't have ordered sea urchin or salmon roe. If it's a safe option, it's only 525 yen, so I might be able to endure it. I felt grateful compared to eating seafood bowls from the supermarket that are refrigerated.

I visited after 20:00. I ordered a sashimi assortment, uni hand rolls, and natto hand rolls. I usually always order a bowl, but today I decided to try something different. Donmaru is easily accessible from Ryogoku Station, and even though there are many locations, this one feels cozy with a wide variety of menu options, including weekly specials and secret menus. I highly recommend the fish head miso soup. However, it sells out quickly, so I suggest going early and ordering it along with a bowl. If the staff read this, please make more of it!

The sushi restaurant started serving seafood bowl dishes in bamboo boats, and all bowls are priced at a uniform rate of 525 yen. The location of the restaurant is along Kiyosumi Street, just past the Keiyo Highway towards Ryogoku Station. If you drive a little further down the street, you will see the flag of Donmaru waving on the left side. There is also a Mori Shita store along the same street. With 70 different options available, it can be quite confusing for first-timers. This time, I tried the Uni Toro Ikura bowl. The amount of Uni was a bit less, but considering the cost of 525 yen, it was worth it. The Ikura was generously served, and the Negi Toro was also plentiful, providing a good value for money. The dish was a bit too cold, maybe because I ate it immediately after purchasing. Overall, Donmaru is so attractive that I would like to try all the bowl dishes next time. I wonder what I should try next!

A 5-minute walk from Ryogoku Station. I found a super affordable seafood bowl restaurant near Mizuho Bank at the intersection of Keiyo Road and Kiyosumi Street! Feeling nervous about seeing a "takeout seafood bowl restaurant" for the first time, I was drawn in by the incredibly low price of 525 yen for all items and entered the store. Not expecting much due to the low prices, I was surprised to see so many photos of delicious seafood bowls inside the store! I couldn't decide which one to order because they all looked so good (laughs). This one has sea urchin! And this one has salmon roe! And they're all only 525 yen each!? I was in a daze. That's how impactful this store is! The Ryogoku branch is takeout only, but it seems like there are other branches with dining spaces inside. The prices and deliciousness remain the same no matter when you visit, not just for lunch. I hope they open a branch near my office too.

For B-class gourmet enthusiasts, the emergence of a super affordable restaurant is a delight. In the downtown area of Tokyo, "Donmaru" is rapidly expanding its stores, and now it has opened in Ryogoku. It is located near the Midori 1-chome intersection of the Keiyo Highway, a little off the Kyosumi street towards the JR railway side. To put it simply, it's across from the tsukemen restaurant "Gonroku". It is said to have opened in October 2010, and judging by the always long lines during lunchtime since then, you can understand how attractive the taste and price must be. There are also renowned restaurants nearby, such as Gonroku, Tokisei, and Kameido Gyoza, so its prosperity despite the competition speaks to its quality and value. I visited around 3 pm on a Saturday to avoid the crowds, and there were no customers ahead of me, so my order was taken promptly and my food arrived in less than 5 minutes. There are about 40 menu items here, all priced at 525 yen, so it's hard to choose, but I ordered the popular seafood bowl. It was generously topped with various ingredients like tuna, squid, mackerel, salmon roe, scallops, and amberjack, almost overflowing with toppings. As for the taste, like in this review, opinions on the quality of the ingredients vary. The tuna-based ingredients are large and fresh, comparable to those at a sushi restaurant. However, more expensive items like sea urchin and salmon roe may not meet expectations. The other ingredients are decent, but this time the squid was tough and lacked flavor. Also, the sushi rice, probably made with cheaper rice to keep costs down, is of low quality, cooked too firm with poor texture. There seems to be room for improvement in this area. So, maybe it's best to cook your own rice at home and have this bowl as a side dish, the ultimate menu idea? Still, for 525 yen, being able to enjoy reasonably fresh seafood is hard to complain about. The affordability of this place might even steal customers from cheap beef bowl chains like Yoshinoya and Sukiya. The only thing that can compete with this affordability is discounted supermarket sashimi packs. It's a recommended spot for when you occasionally crave cheap sushi.

The nearest station is Ryogoku Station on the Toei Oedo Line, just a 1-minute walk away. I didn't have time to go out for lunch due to work, so I asked my companion to buy a bento for me, and they chose this place. I had never tried Donmaru before, so I was curious to try it. This time, the bento was the recommended Ryogoku Don. It's a bowl with whitebait, pickled mackerel, salmon roe, fish cake, salmon, egg, tuna, and squid, but I couldn't figure out what makes it "Ryogoku." If they had at least included chicken, I would have praised it as authentic. The bowl was neatly arranged and easy to eat, but the ingredients were a bit sparse. I don't think the taste was bad, but because of the lack of ingredients, it was difficult to balance the flavors. In the end, I made a mistake in how I ate it and ended up eating more than half of it with vinegared rice and wasabi soy sauce. However, the prices are reasonable, so I think it's a good place for casual dining. Thank you for the meal.

The day before yesterday's dinner and yesterday's breakfast were both takeout donburi meals. I got them from "Sasafune Donmaru" near Ryogoku Station (photo 1). Photo 2 shows a special menu board that caught my eye and I decided to buy from. I purchased the famous Ryogoku Donburi and a hidden menu item called Anago Chirashi for breakfast (photo 3). The portion size was just right for when you don't need a big meal for dinner or when you don't feel like eating much in the morning. The taste was also very good, probably something that most people would enjoy. The prices were reasonable at ¥540 for each item, making it a good deal. I paid with PayPay and got a 30% point back thanks to the Sumida Ward campaign. It was a satisfying and cost-effective purchase.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, this restaurant has been supporting my stomach! They have a variety of affordable seafood bowl options, so I always have a hard time deciding when I walk in. Somehow, I end up ordering the same thing every time! But it's fun to choose different toppings and combinations each time!

The Bara-don with extra toppings (755 yen) is great value. During the pandemic, most restaurants have last orders around 7:30 pm, making it hard for those who work late. Luckily, this place allows takeout until 9 pm, which is a lifesaver. The wide variety of menu options always leaves me indecisive when ordering. It really tests my decision-making skills.
