I came to Tsuruhashi to buy sesame oil. Japanese sesame oil is delicious, of course, but once you experience the strong aroma of Korean sesame oil, other kinds just don't seem enough. Recently, even domestic ones have a strong flavor, but still not satisfying. Korean sesame oil has a punch to it. For some reason, Korean sesame oil is not available in regular import food stores or supermarkets, so I have to come all the way to Tsuruhashi to buy it. The same goes for kimchi. Once you try the kimchi here, you'll wonder what you've been eating before. However, I was hesitant to come due to the fear of COVID-19. Now that the number of cases has decreased a bit, I thought it might be safe to visit. As I walked through Korea Town in Ikuno, I saw a lot of people out and about, just like before the pandemic. I guess because the state of emergency has been lifted. I went straight to the store I wanted to visit without wandering around unnecessarily. I bought the sesame oil at a store called Toyoda Shouten, and instead of the usual large bottle, I bought a 1-liter can since I don't know when I can come back next. It's convenient and lightweight. My wife also bought various ingredients at the store. Then, kimchi. There are many kimchi stores in Korea Town. Although the kimchi from Yamada Shouten, where I usually buy, is delicious, it was quite crowded that day. A little west of the famous N Store, which was featured on the Matsumoto Family's Holiday TV show, there was a promising kimchi store. "Takasan Kimchi." Oh, was this store here all along? I must have missed it as I usually pass by after shopping elsewhere. As I observed from outside, customers were constantly coming and going. It seemed like they were all regulars. It must be delicious! As I was looking at the products from outside, the store owner, maybe I should call her "Omoni" in Korean, asked cheerfully, "What can I get for you?" My main goal that day was Gejang soy sauce-marinated crab, but I was in the mood for Gejang marinated in spicy sauce, Yangnyeom Gejang! Starting from 1000 yen per serving. Then I'll take 2000 yen worth! "Sure, I'll give you some extra!" She generously added more to the container. I also bought three types of kimchi for 1000 yen, and it was hard to choose. My favorite is the green onion kimchi, which goes well with rice and ramen. I buy it almost every time I come here. I also love the dried radish kimchi, which was included in a kimchi assortment I bought at Seijo Ishii before and found it delicious. I have high expectations for the authentic taste this time! I also like Chinese yam... "The eggplant is delicious too." She offered a sample. Ah, it's delicious! So, I decided on three types. I want to buy more, but I can't finish it all at once. Back at home, it's time to eat. I had some cold noodles in stock, so I enjoyed them with the kimchi. The green onion kimchi was delicious, the dried radish kimchi was delicious, and the eggplant kimchi was delicious. Everything was delicious! This store is a hit! My wife was in a good mood. Thank you for the meal. I want to go again soon!
