At Izakaya Tokiwa, I had the fried chicken set meal. They have a really generous menu here. #IzakayaTokiwa #Izakaya #Tokiwa #IzakayaFood #ConnectWithPeopleWhoLoveIzakaya #IzakayaGourmet #IzakayaCrawl #IzakayaMeal #FriedChickenSetMeal #LargePortionFriedChickenSetMeal #NakashibetsuGourmet #NakashibetsuEmo #NakashibetsuDinner

During a business trip in Hokkaido, the next day's work was postponed due to the impact of a typhoon. However, the weather wasn't as bad as expected, so I decided to explore the city at night by myself. Just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, I spotted a restaurant that caught my eye and decided to visit. Inside, there were two people at the counter and one group in a private room. Since I was alone, I was seated at the counter. I ordered a local sake from Nemuro and some Tsubu clam sashimi as a snack. Considering the location close to Rausu, I wanted to try some local Hokke fish. The Rausu Hokke, priced at 1200 yen, was my choice. The sake was poured skillfully over the counter, and it paired perfectly with the sashimi. The fresh Tsubu clam sashimi had a sweet taste and a satisfying texture. Next, I switched to a sweet potato shochu on the rocks before the dried fish arrived. About 20 minutes later, the Hokke fish was served. It was a decently fatty and tasty Hokke, but eating a whole fish by myself was quite an experience. Overall, with the sake, shochu, appetizer, sashimi, and Hokke, the bill came to 3100 yen including tax. It was a satisfying solo dining experience on a typhoon night during a business trip in Hokkaido. When in Hokkaido, it's clear that staying in your room is not an option. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited this restaurant for dinner during a business trip. Although it is an izakaya, there were set meal options listed outside the shop. Since I am not a fan of alcohol, I asked the staff if it was okay to just have a meal first, considering the lower average spending per customer. I ordered the grilled fish set meal. When I asked the chef what kind of fish was included, he said they had Atka mackerel and Marbled flounder today. There was a big Atka mackerel hanging right in front of the counter. The big Atka mackerel is from Shiretoko Peninsula, Rausu Town. I had seen Rausu mackerel being sold at a local supermarket before, and it was big and plump. I chose the Marbled flounder, which I hadn't eaten in a while. This Marbled flounder is also from Rausu, just like the Atka mackerel. The grilled fish set meal... Marbled flounder set meal. What appeared was a thick and huge Marbled flounder! It was much bigger than the Marbled flounder I had eaten before. From my experience, Marbled flounder has thin flesh but rich flavor, like a fatty dried fish. I was surprised by the size. When I asked the chef about the big Marbled flounder, he said that they can be big depending on the season and place. The grilled Marbled flounder emitted a unique smell. And with its thick flesh, it was a satisfyingly filling meal. The set meal came with two small side dishes. One was octopus in vinegar, which was also delicious. Since it's an izakaya, I assume it goes well with sake (I'm not a fan of alcohol, so this is just my imagination). After finishing the meal, the owner kindly offered me some milk, saying "How about some milk after your meal?" It's nice to receive such thoughtfulness. Nakashibetsu Town is known for having more cows than people (probably...), so it was a pleasant dining experience with the cheerful atmosphere created by the owner and staff. I decided to try that big Atka mackerel hanging in front of me next time I visit on a business trip. Thank you for the meal.
