I had been wanting to visit a friend of a friend's restaurant for a while, but it was located in an area that I don't usually frequent, so I didn't have the chance to go. This time, I made a reservation and went to the restaurant in Bentencho. It was close to the end of the year, so many regular customers seemed to be coming in one after another. The dishes were all homely and the seafood was very fresh, so everything I ordered was delicious! The owner was friendly and even a dapper older gentleman who seemed to be a regular treated me to a beer. The photo shows a sashimi platter, kaki vinegar, shirako ponzu, and what I think was a tuna roll. Everything was tasty, but the tuna roll was especially amazing. The owner was quite handsome, so there were also female customers who seemed to be there because of him. If I didn't have plans for a second stop, I would have liked to try more dishes and other sushi as well. I'm adding a star for knowing someone who knows the owner, and I definitely want to come back here when I'm in the area.

Originally, this restaurant is run by a master who used to work on a ship in Osaka Port. The name "Shintemaru" comes from the name of the ship at that time. They serve rare fish directly imported from the Goto Islands, so when you visit, the assorted sashimi platter is highly recommended. Today, we had our annual camp planning meeting at this restaurant with the three organizers. It seems one of the organizers knows the owner. The staff, including a friendly young man and the chef, welcomed us warmly. It's a fun restaurant loved by locals and has a great atmosphere. The snacks were delicious, especially the vinegar-marinated fish, which went well with the drinks. The grilled conger eel was also tasty. I really liked the pickled radish from the island. With two beers and three drinks, we had a great time. It was a cozy and enjoyable restaurant. Thank you for the meal. We'll definitely visit again when we're in the Minato Ward.

Located a 5-minute walk from Bentencho Station in Minato Ward, this cozy izakaya is beloved by the community in front of the prestigious Ichioika High School. Last year, the restaurant relocated to its current location. It is a casual and unpretentious spot where the owner handles the cooking and the wife provides service. While the drink selection may not be extensive, the menu offers a variety of dishes. It is a convenient and welcoming spot for nearby office workers and long-time residents of the area (Ichioika Motomachi) to drop by without any fuss.
