Wandering novice curry mania / rookie ramen mania, a solitary middle-aged man. This is a memorandum-like review. If you are looking for concise information about the restaurant and food, please move on to other reviews here. On New Year's Day, I visit the local shrine, and on the 2nd, I visit the Hokkaido Shrine. It has become a tradition for me. And as part of the shrine visit, I always stop by here. Going up to the second floor where there is a cafe, the clean restroom is also a nice convenience. This year, the weather is not as cold as usual, probably around 3-4 degrees Celsius? There is no wind, and the weather is clear. It's a calm New Year. Compared to previous years, there were surprisingly few visitors this year. It was about half the usual crowd. In any case, it's very much appreciated to have a year where things go smoothly. I arrived around 11 am (on a Monday) and the restaurant was full, so I got a waiting ticket and went to the restroom first (laughs). I was the third group in line as a waiting customer. I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes, and I got a seat when someone left. This time, I planned to eat somewhere else, so I opted for something light (the outcome of the meal was different though). I ordered a Strawberry Parfait, Hot Pudding, and a Hot Coffee, totaling 2,000 yen including tax (650 yen + 550 yen + 400 yen + 400 yen). The hot coffee didn't have a special feeling. But it was nice to have free refills, especially for someone with a slightly cold body. The Strawberry Parfait looked interesting from the menu image, and as a sweet tooth, I wanted to try it. It arrived in less than 10 minutes from ordering. The portion seemed a bit on the expensive side compared to the rising prices of shortcakes. The Strawberry Parfait consisted of whipped cream, strawberries, vanilla ice cream, strawberry sherbet, and a macaron. The whipped cream was not too sweet, and the strawberries were not too sour, making it easy to eat. I enjoyed it, although I thought a bit more sponge would have added to the parfait feel. The Hot Pudding was a moist sponge-like pudding with warm custard sauce poured over it. Diced sweet potatoes and apples were hidden behind the pudding. The custard sauce was poured by the staff. The "rum-flavored" aspect was not too strong. When I tried a bit, the pudding had a "sweet potato" flavor. It makes sense. If it had a custard flavor, it would clash with the custard sauce. Overall, the "sweet potato" flavor was quite pronounced, but it was elegantly presented and delicious. Hmm, it's too early to worry about next year now... As for the dishes I haven't tried here, there's only the "pizza" left. What should I do next year...
