I entered for the first time. The entrance door was manual, so I had to open and close it myself. I was told, "One person?" and then I was shown to a table. The water was self-service. When I ordered the medium fatty tuna and salmon roe bowl, they told me, "Medium fatty tuna and salmon roe bowl, 1850 yen." I paid before the meal, which was the right thing to do. There was an anime playing on a large monitor in the restaurant. It was Love Live Sunshine. The bowl arrived. The portion was huge. Even a hungry bear would be satisfied with this dish.

It was delicious. However, be aware that there is a considerable amount of rice. It was crowded even on a weekday afternoon. The owner runs the shop alone, so the operation speed is not particularly fast. Maruki Donburi costs 1,900 yen (payment in advance).

We visited with two colleagues around 1 PM on a regular day. It was quite crowded in the 12 PM hour. If the weather is good, there may be a line. It's a restaurant that serves seafood bowls as well as beef bowls, so the taste is decent. It may not be suitable for those looking for a unique flavor experience.

I suddenly felt like eating seafood bowl and went to Maguro Tei for their Taisho Don. It cost around 2400 yen and included tuna, medium fatty tuna, egg, flounder, negitoro, and more. The portion was huge and beautifully presented. The rice portion was also generous, so sharing is recommended. The taste was average, but the variety of ingredients allowed for a diverse range of flavors. It's difficult to find such a variety of ingredients at this price point, making it cost-effective. The sea urchin had a slight chemical taste and the salmon roe was on the smaller side, reflecting the price. If you're looking for high-quality uni or ikura, it's better to go elsewhere. However, if you want to try a variety of ingredients and enjoy a lot of tuna, this place is recommended. The restaurant was bright and had anime playing on the TV. Taste: ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎ Quantity: ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎ Appearance: ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎ Cost performance: ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎ Thank you for the meal today as well.

Maruki Don, a specialty seafood bowl made with luxurious fish, is available starting from the 1200 yen range and offers an impressive volume! With a variety of toppings such as sea urchin, salmon roe, tuna, marinated tuna, white fish, shrimp, and egg, it provides a satisfying meal. The special topping is probably double the normal amount! If you prefer less rice with all the extravagance, the owner will confirm the portion size for you, so you can rest assured! Be sure to give it a try!

I went to "Maguro Tei" for a revenge visit a week after mistakenly going on their regular holiday (Tuesday). It was close to 1 pm, and I was prepared for a long line, but to my surprise, there was plenty of room inside the restaurant. The TV was playing an anime I had never seen before, giving the place a colorful Akihabara vibe. I ordered the "Maruki Don" for 1,860 yen (tax included), which had 9 different types of fish. However, my initial high expectations were not fully met, as the quality of the tuna, which the restaurant is named after, was not outstanding. The cost-performance ratio also felt a bit off. The customers in the restaurant today seemed to completely ignore the anime playing on TV. I wonder if anyone actually understands the content of the show?

Located under the Matsuzumicho Overpass, a symbolic arch bridge in Akihabara, is Maguro Tei, known for its jumbo seafood bowls. On this particular day, I arrived for lunch around 2pm due to a busy morning. Feeling hungry, I decided to try out Maguro Tei, which I had been curious about for some time. The menu outside lists various options, ranging from Chutoro Don for 1,200 yen to Otoro, Uni, and Ikura Don for 2,300 yen. Inside the cozy restaurant with a TV playing anime, I ordered the Maruki Don for 1,860 yen. The dish arrived overflowing with a variety of seafood, including tuna, marinated tuna, white fish, thick tamagoyaki, shrimp, sea urchin, ikura, and squid. The presentation was beautiful, and after preparing my soy sauce and wasabi, I dug in, enjoying the flavorful seafood.

A seafood rice bowl restaurant along the Kanda River, specializing in tuna. The interior has a distinctly Akihabara vibe, with anime posters on the walls and a N*ruto video playing on two screens. I sat at the counter and ordered the medium fatty tuna bowl for ¥1200. The bowl also came with miso soup. When the medium fatty tuna bowl arrived, I was surprised. It was packed full with tuna, and there was a little bit of minced tuna with green onions as well. The soy sauce was served on the side for you to pour over, and there was a sweet soy sauce option available, but I used the regular one with wasabi. The tuna was soft and fatty, but a bit sinewy. On the other hand, the minced tuna with green onions was smoother and more enjoyable. If you really want to indulge in tuna, this place might be cost-effective for you, but I would recommend going for the minced tuna with green onions instead.

I entered the restaurant after 1 pm and there were a few customers scattered around. The interior of the restaurant was not very big, with a counter and two table seats, and it had a unique Akihabara-like atmosphere. I don't know much about anime, but I think anime fans would be happy. The menu I ordered was the "Taisei Don" which included various seafood such as tuna, marinated tuna, white fish, thick grilled egg, sea urchin, salmon roe, and topped with medium fatty tuna for 2300 yen, with miso soup included. Other menu items included negitoro, squid, scallops, flounder, whelk, tuna simmered in sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi. The Taisei Don had a generous amount of rice and a large variety of sashimi toppings, almost all of the items listed on the menu. The rice was served in a large bowl and the portion was quite substantial. The staff asked if the portion size was okay for a woman, and they adjusted it slightly for me. Despite being full, I managed to finish the meal, although my female friend I was with left some food. The seafood was fresh and delicious, except for the unidentified white fish, possibly flounder, and the marinated tuna. The rice was plain white rice, but I personally prefer vinegared rice. As I got fuller, the oiliness of the medium fatty tuna became a bit overwhelming, so I balanced it out with the slightly salty miso soup. Overall, the restaurant focused more on quantity and presentation rather than taste.

This might be a matter of personal preference. I stopped by a random restaurant and ordered a large serving of medium fatty tuna bowl. It took about 15 minutes from ordering to the bowl being served, and my excitement grew when I saw the bowl. The tuna was overflowing from the bowl! I was ready to dig in, but when I picked up the bowl, it was scorching hot!! And when I tried it, instead of vinegared rice, there was hot white rice underneath the tuna. I could accept the white rice instead of vinegared rice, but the fish on top of the hot white rice seemed to have been cooked strangely, giving off a slightly fishy smell, so I'm sorry to say that I couldn't finish it all. It would have been delicious if the rice had cooled down a bit more.

During my greetings walk around Akihabara, I stumbled upon a sign for a place called "Maguro-Tei" and decided to check it out for lunch. I was a bit skeptical about having tuna in Akihabara, but the menu listed their specialty as "Mystery Addictiveness! Akihabara Specialty!? (Self-proclaimed) Maguro, Maguro-Zuke, White Fish, Thick Tamagoyaki, Butsu, Uni, Ikura..." Intrigued, I ordered the "Maruki Don" despite being warned by the staff that it would take some time. The interior of the restaurant was decorated with anime videos and posters, creating a unique atmosphere. The Maruki Don was served overflowing from the bowl, with regular white rice instead of vinegared rice. It was a bit challenging to eat the rice without disturbing the lively arrangement of sashimi on top. It felt a bit pricey for a lunch option, but it could be worth it for the experience. Overall, it was an interesting meal.

I had some business in Akihabara and found a delicious looking restaurant a little off the main street. The restaurant had only counter seating. I ordered a maguro (tuna) and uni (sea urchin) rice bowl for ¥2,300. They asked for the size of the rice, and I chose a smaller portion. Even the smaller portion was quite large, so I skipped dinner that night. The maguro and uni were fresh, and the staff's service was excellent. I was very satisfied with my meal.

Located about a 5-minute walk east from Akihabara along the train tracks, this shop on the outskirts caught my attention as I was craving seafood bowl. The shop has only a counter and the staff is working alone. I arrived at 11:30 am with 2 customers already inside. I ordered the Maruki Don for 1,760 yen. It came with tuna, marinated tuna, negitoro, scallops, white fish, tamago, sea urchin, and salmon roe on top of white rice. The rice portion was generous and the variety of toppings was satisfying. While there were no standout delicious toppings, the overall quality was decent and the quantity of toppings made it a good value for the price.

I came to "Maguro Tei" at the foot of Shobu Bridge in Shobu. The overflowing toppings in the bowl are becoming increasingly famous. The head chef has a tough-looking appearance but is actually kind and considerate. I'm not sure if the head chef is a fan of anime or if it's because of Akihabara, but they play anime scenes on a big screen with loud sound. It's good to learn about Japanese culture sometimes. When you change the color of your hair, you might end up looking like the same character. Gotta work on that. In anime, there is a phrase often used, "Saseru ka." It's not something you hear in daily life, so I wonder which show originated it. You can adjust the amount of rice and add toppings here. Since it's my first time, I decided to leave it all to the head chef. It took about 15 minutes from ordering, and while I was watching anime absentmindedly, the dish arrived. The rice was piping hot, and you could feel the head chef's passion in the bowl. "Taisei Don" for ¥2,200 includes Maruki Don and Bachi Maguro Chutoro. I'm not sure about the origins of words like "Maruki" or "Taisei." Anyway, wow, amazing tuna! Where do I even start? The head chef asked if I wanted a separate plate, but I said, "No, I'll manage!" Let's dig in. Let's check the ingredients. Akami, Chutoro, Negitoro, marinated tuna, squid, scallop, flounder?, sea urchin, salmon roe, tamagoyaki, pickled ginger, and more. Don't be stingy and eat slowly, because there's plenty of tuna to go around. Take a bite, drizzle soy sauce from the pot, cool down with pickled ginger, and keep attacking this difficult mountain range of toppings. It might be my first time eating Chutoro this vigorously. The fat isn't heavy and it's easy to eat, keeps coming out, and tastes delicious. Oh, what's this now? Looks like teriyaki chicken. Not tuna, right? No, it's chicken. My judgment center is paralyzed. I don't know what it is, but it's delicious. I'm getting full just from the tuna heads. The tuna heads are disappearing, and what's left is actually a lot of rice. I should have ordered less if I knew. Oh, I'm so full. I'm full just from the tuna. Happy. A luxurious bowl to end the year, I've worked hard this year. Still a few more days of work left though. Thank you, head chef. Next time, I'll try customizing my order a bit.

Today, I decided to try out a restaurant that caught my eye, "Maguro Tei," located near Showa-dori. The restaurant had unique operating hours, only open for lunch on weekdays and also open for dinner on weekends. As I checked the menu outside, I noticed their specialty dish, the "Maruki Don" for 1,760 yen. It seemed interesting, so I decided to give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by an interior filled with anime goods and anime playing on the monitors. It was definitely an Akihabara specialty! I sat at the counter and checked the menu, but I couldn't find the "Maruki Don" at first. It turned out to be on the back of the menu. The dish included tuna, marinated tuna, white fish, thick omelette, burdock, sea urchin, and salmon roe. It seemed like a good deal with various seafood toppings. After a short wait, the "Maruki Don" arrived. The bowl was filled with a generous amount of seafood on top of rice. I dug in and enjoyed the balance of sashimi and rice. The portion was bigger than I expected, but the fluffy rice made it easier to eat. I managed to finish the meal and felt satisfied. As I left, I thanked the staff for the fulfilling meal, and they smiled back. It was clear that they wanted customers to enjoy the Akihabara specialty to the fullest. I also expressed my gratitude for the delicious meal.

Seafood bowl restaurant in Akihabara. Located a 3-4 minute walk from Akihabara Station or Shin-Ochanomizu Station. Visited around 2:00 PM on a Saturday, with 2 customers already there. The interior is covered in posters, figures, and anime decorations typical of Akihabara, with Fate playing on the TV at the counter. Today, I had the following: - Taisei Bowl (¥2,200): Served in about 10 minutes. Overwhelming presentation, with sashimi overflowing from the bowl. The toppings included clam, scallop, squid, sea urchin, salmon roe, bonito, negitoro, albacore, white fish, egg, and medium fatty tuna. The quality of the toppings was surprisingly good for the price. The medium fatty tuna had a bit too many sinews, but overall, it was satisfactory for the price. A little further towards Ochanomizu, there is another famous seafood bowl restaurant called "Edo-Fuji," but it seems like they have successfully differentiated themselves in terms of pricing. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for lunch. The place is located a little bit along the river from the electric town of Akihabara. The interior of the restaurant is mostly counter seating, but there are also a few table seats. The signature dish seems to be a surprising volume of tuna bowl. The tuna had a slightly tough texture, but it was filling.

I arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 on Sunday and there were a few empty seats inside. However, it took about 30 minutes from ordering to being served because each dish was made to order. I ordered the "Taisei Don" for ¥2,200. The rice was served in a large portion by default, and the toppings were generous! The toppings were fresh and delicious, without any fishy smell.

At the foot of Akiba Masakaebashi, there is a seafood bowl restaurant called Maruki Maguro Tei. I had been eyeing this place for a while and finally visited! The medium fatty tuna bowl was loaded with tuna. I forgot to ask for less rice, so it was a huge portion... but I managed to finish it. I then walked to my next destination at Kudanshita for some aerobic exercise. It cost 1,100 yen. Thank you for the meal!
