It was a small and cute café in a temple. Both the temple and the café were small. But the garden was beautiful, and I enjoyed spending time there, thinking how such a place exists in the middle of the city. I had matcha tea and various sweets for 1500 yen. Payment is made in advance. Water is self-service.

After having lunch in Namba, I went to Temple Cafe Chatani for some refreshment. The charming atmosphere is lovely, with a counter seat overlooking the garden. I had a tough time choosing from the menu, but I ended up ordering a set of 7 assorted tea sweets with hojicha latte, matcha tiramisu with soba tea latte. The flavorful lattes paired perfectly with the tea sweets, and the rich matcha tiramisu was a great match. The tea sweets were fun to eat with various fillings in the monaka. While enjoying the cool scenery and the sound of wind chimes, I was able to relax slowly with delicious Japanese sweets.

I visited this restaurant after having an early lunch at a different place, feeling a bit unsatisfied. It was past 12:30 when I arrived, and I had been intrigued by this place after seeing it on Instagram. It was a hot day, so no one was eating outside, everyone was inside. We were lucky to find a table right when we walked in. There were customers wearing kimonos, creating a very nice atmosphere. I can't remember the name, but I ordered a sweet set and warm matcha. You order at the counter. The food and drinks were okay overall, nothing particularly outstanding. However, the atmosphere of the restaurant was really lovely, and I was able to relax. If you're tired of the hustle and bustle of Namba, it's a nice place to unwind. Thank you for the meal.

I finally got to go to this place I've been wanting to visit for a while, and I'm so happy. I had a matcha parfait and a hojicha latte. The latte was creamy and fluffy. It was delicious. The matcha parfait was pretty standard. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, and I would love to go back again.

- Matcha Tiramisu (¥1350) * Soba tea latte set - Matcha Parfait (¥1530) * Hojicha latte set - Affogato (¥650) Discovered a lovely Japanese cafe that makes you feel like you're in the countryside of Kyoto even though you're in the urban area of Osaka. The garden seating is highly recommended for the upcoming season when the weather is pleasant. The atmosphere is so nice that you might forget you're in Osaka and just relax. Please note that they are only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. ⚠️

I had always wanted to go there. Personally, I thought it would be best to go in the summer since the menu isn't that extensive. The atmosphere and comfort were amazing. We decided on our order at our table and then ordered and paid with the limited quantity menu (I forgot the name). The black beans were incredibly delicious. They had a crunchy and sweet taste. I would definitely buy them if they were sold separately. You can eat them both outside and inside, but there were tables only inside, so we ate inside.

Tea time at "Temple Cafe Chatani" located within the grounds of Manpuku-ji Temple on the south side of Horie Park, open only on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. After ordering and paying inside the shop on the right hand side, find a seat at an available table. The seating in the shop offers different views depending on where you sit. It is also recommended to enjoy a leisurely tea on the outdoor terrace while looking out at the garden ❤️ If you have a favorite seat, you can inform the staff and move there when it becomes available. This time, I had the Persimmon Leaf Tea for 700 yen. Non-caffeinated with benefits such as vitamins, carotene, and potassium, as well as polyphenols with various effects such as antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. The staff will kindly explain how to drink the tea ❤️ Pour hot water from the pot into the teapot for 2 minutes, and it's ready to drink when all the sand in the hourglass has fallen to the bottom. The tea can be enjoyed for up to 3 infusions. The soothing scent of persimmon is delightful ❤️ The tea snack was dried persimmon with a natural sweetness, delicious! My companion had an Iced Soba Tea Latte for 700 yen, with karinto as the tea snack. The simple sweetness of the karinto is delicious. It's such a cozy space that you won't want to leave (〃ω〃) They also offer blanket rentals, so you can warm your feet while relaxing in the garden on cold days. Forget the hustle and bustle of the city and be healed by the seasonal flowers in the garden. Thank you for the meal ☆

【Thank you for the meal】▶︎Hoji tea latte / Pumpkin milk crepe / Matcha tiramisu【Foodie's comments】This time, I visited Temple Cafe Chatani. A natural space that suddenly appears in the city. A Japanese garden like Kyoto. There are indoor and terrace seats, making it a relaxing space. The menu consists mainly of Japanese-style sweets such as matcha. The matcha tiramisu has a refreshing taste with the aroma of tea leaves. The pumpkin milk crepe is also easy to eat with a mild sweetness. And above all, the hoji tea latte is delicious. A hot hoji tea latte to drink in cold weather is definitely divine. It may be tough to sit on the terrace when it's cold, but I recommend aiming for a seat inside this place!---------------------------------------【Store Information】Store Name: Temple Cafe ChataniAddress: 1-14-2 Minamihorie, Nishi-ku, Osaka CityBusiness Hours: Fri-Sat 13:00-17:00 / Sat 12:00-17:00Closed: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed---------------------------------------

I came to Shinsaibashi. It's a bit cooler today, making it easier to walk around. I extended my walk to Horie Park and visited the temple cafe called Chatani, which is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. According to their website, the temple is a Jodo Shinshu Honganji temple, and it is the same temple mentioned in the rakugo story "Oyako Chaya" by Katsura Bunshi. The temple used to be located in Shimanouchi (now America-mura) for about 350 years, but it was relocated to Horie in 1958. As I approached the temple, I was surprised by its modern black lattice exterior. Inside, there were tables and chairs set up, as well as a corner selling herbal tea and other items. A female staff member welcomed me and recommended a seat with a good view of the garden where the "red spider lilies" were blooming. I ordered a matcha parfait for 880 yen. When it arrived, it was filled to the brim with matcha-flavored ice cream on top, chewy shiratama (rice flour dumplings), candied chestnuts, whipped cream, and cereal. The atmosphere was lively with young customers, both male and female, taking photos of the greenery in the garden or simply relaxing in the serenity of the temple in the middle of the city.

The nearest stations are Yotsubashi Line Yotsubashi Station and JR Namba Station. As the name suggests, it is a unique cafe located in a corner of a temple called Banpuku-ji. I thought it would be a calming place to visit, so I went there. - Hojicha Latte (¥700) with two pieces of raw chocolate. - Matcha Grasse with condensed milk to adjust the sweetness. It has beautiful ice like whiskey on the rocks. The matcha is delicious. Even when the ice melts a little and dilutes, it remains delicious as the original flavor is strong. I added a little condensed milk towards the end. - Three types of raw chocolate to accompany tea (¥700). I wanted something a little sweet, so I added chocolate. White chocolate with black beans, matcha raw chocolate, and hojicha raw chocolate. Since matcha is bitter, I ate the chocolate first and then drank the matcha. It was delicious! The cafe has large windows that provide a sense of openness, allowing you to relax while looking out at the temple and garden outside. It was a great experience.

I brought my little sister to a cafe near Minami-ma that I had been curious about because it seemed to have a nice atmosphere, but honestly, it didn't meet my expectations. It's a Japanese-style cafe located in a temple, where you can enjoy a bit of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.

A few minutes' walk from Yotsubashi Station towards Namba, there is a shop right in front of Horie Park called Teraniwa Cafe. The entrance is open and the lovely atmosphere of the garden catches your eye before you even enter, drawing you into the charming space. You can choose between indoor seating and the veranda, and this time, the weather was nice so I chose the veranda. The view from there is also very nice, and the staff kindly brought a stove to keep us warm. The assortment of traditional Japanese sweets includes karinto, monaka, and candied chestnuts, all beautifully arranged and delicious. It pairs perfectly with the green tea, making for a cozy experience. When you're tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and need a moment to relax and unwind, this is a highly recommended spot.

It's so hot... I think I'll stop by a cafe for a bit. I ended up at Temple Cafe Chatani in Minami Horie. I had no idea there was a cafe like this here. I haven't been to Horie recently. The city is changing rapidly without me realizing it. There's a cafe inside the temple grounds. Quite a few customers were inside. I ordered the Uji matcha milk kakigori. It was delicious. The combination of Uji matcha and kakigori was surprisingly good. Plus, the kakigori here was a bit pricey but worth it for the generous portion.

A temple cafe of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji-ha sect. The exterior doesn't look like a temple, it's stylish. However, inside, it's definitely a temple. The atmosphere is really nice. There are many young customers. You order at the register, then pay. Water is self-serve. Rows of Buddhist books were lined up. I ordered a hojicha ice latte and a black tea chiffon cake. Both were really delicious!! The hojicha latte had a fragrant taste that was irresistible. The chiffon cake had a melt-in-your-mouth texture with a hint of cinnamon that made it incredibly delicious! The quiet atmosphere made the flavors even better!! It would be great if there were more temple cafes like this around.

A cafe located inside the Manpukuji Temple, open only 3 days a week. It has a calming atmosphere with a nice little garden. I went there on a Saturday assuming they served simple food, but realized they didn't have any when I looked at the menu. They only allow one order per person during lunchtime. I ordered the matcha affogato, which was served beautifully. The staff advised me to pour the matcha over the ice cream all at once, and it was delicious! I also wanted to try the cheesecake. I'll definitely visit again in the future.

On a scorching hot day with a high of 35°C, I was strolling around Horie looking for a cool place to relax when I stumbled upon this cafe near Horie Park. Even though I've been here many times before, it was my first time seeing it... Turns out they are only open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the day. I mustered up the courage to open the sliding door, and I was greeted by a cool, slightly incense-scented tatami room. It felt like visiting my grandma's house during summer vacation (laughs). Once I decided on what to order after looking at the menu, I went to the counter to pay in advance. Since it was Kakigori Day on July 25th, I ordered the Uji Kanjou Kakigori (¥850) with a set drink of hot coffee! The Kakigori came with syrup and toppings of shiratama, chestnut, and dried red beans on the side, allowing you to add them gradually as you eat. This way, it doesn't get watery towards the end, which is nice. The ice was finely shaved but still had a crunchy texture. The matcha syrup was pleasantly bitter. And the dried red beans were strangely addictive! It was a new experience with the chewy texture, which I associate with Azuki beans in Uji Kanjou. The atmosphere was very calming, and I found myself wanting to stay longer than planned. I also want to try their parfait, so I hope to visit again when the timing is right! [Additional notes] I revisited the cafe twice after the above visit! The second time, I tried the Matcha Parfait (¥750). It was overflowing from the cup, and there were plenty of shiratama and chestnut, making it feel like a great deal. Sitting by the window and enjoying the view outside added to the wonderful atmosphere. The third time, I had the Hojicha Pudding Parfait (¥750). This one seemed more elaborate, so the wait was a bit longer. It included Hojicha chiffon cake, Hojicha ganache, and Hojicha pudding at the bottom! It's a parfait that Hojicha lovers will adore. They used to be open until 5 pm during the summer, but it seems like they close at 4 pm when it gets dark. It might be challenging to figure out the right timing to visit, but I will definitely go back!

I encountered a stylish building with a heavy wooden door (about 2x5m) being opened before visiting "Sazanka" for lunch. Upon closer inspection, I found out it was a café inside a temple called Manpuku-ji (Jodo Shinshu). It was about 30m away from the lunch spot and open from 13:00. I decided to stop by for dessert after lunch. I entered a little after 13:00 and there was one customer already there. Despite the stylish exterior, the temple grounds had a charming atmosphere. The spacious interior, with ample seating, had a warm wooden ambiance. The menu included sweets like matcha tiramisu, cheesecake, and chai chiffon cake, along with tea options like sencha, matcha, latte, and coffee, priced between 900-1100 yen. You could also choose a set with 7 types of tea sweets for 1250-1350 yen. I opted for the set at 1000 yen, with matcha tiramisu and Uji sencha. You pay at the register before being served. The tea arrived in 7-8 minutes, followed by the dessert in 12-13 minutes. The tea came with a small red bean freeze-dried snack. The tea was served at around 80°C, which was perfect for enjoying its flavor. The dessert had a generous amount of whipped cream, balanced nicely with matcha. I discovered that adding the leftover red beans to the dessert not only changed the flavor but also added a nice texture. I left at 13:25, with 4 groups and 9 people still there. It was a café where I would have liked to linger a bit longer. Note that the café is only open on Thursdays and Fridays from 13:00-16:00 and Saturdays from 11:00-17:00, so it's not a place with a strong business focus.
