Telework, online exercise, and now online drinking parties! Is this the new normal? Our shop is a yellow sign bento shop located in Nishi-Kanda. We offer affordable bentos like Nori Bento for 310 yen, and Karaage Bento for 310 yen, as well as side dishes and individual menu items. We also offer delivery in the neighborhood. This time, I purchased several individual items as snacks for a home drinking session. Chikuwa Tempura (30 yen), Croquette (50 yen), White Fish Fry (60 yen), and Shrimp Fry (100 yen). In total, it was 240 yen! The tempura and fries were crispy and delicious because they were freshly fried. Since they are not placed on rice, the freshly fried taste is preserved, making them even tastier than in a bento box.

I purchased a bento lunch from a place near my company. The items I bought here were: - Karaage Korokke Bento for 300 yen, which came with chikuwa tempura as a surprise addition. However, the rice did not have seaweed on it, which was a bit unexpected. - Nori Karaage Bento for 490 yen, which I bought on a different day. I intended to just have a nori bento, but the freshly fried items here are always so delicious that I couldn't resist. The karaage is juicy and perfectly seasoned, making it a must-have! Finally, I can talk about the topic in the title now. Should a nori bento come with soy sauce or sauce? This debate is as interesting as whether fried fish should be eaten with soy sauce or sauce. By the way, this shop includes sauce with the bento. I prefer soy sauce, but I found a flaw in the argument of my soy sauce-loving friend. I guess I'm the type to point out flaws when I find them. First, here is my friend's argument: https://tabelog.com/rvwr/000534142/rvwdtl/B301775079/ In short, those who put sauce on seaweed and use it as a topping for rice are a bit strange. So, the debate between soy sauce and sauce comes down to whether sauce goes well with rice, toppings, and seaweed. Rice, toppings, seaweed, soy sauce → definitely a good match (agreed) Rice, toppings, seaweed, sauce. Rice, toppings, seaweed, sauce. Rice, toppings, seaweed, sauce. Wait, have you ever seen this combination before? Yes!! Okonomiyaki & rice! Toppings, nori, sauce on a generously topped okonomiyaki makes a great rice topping! ※ You can also use takoyaki Carrots and burdock root in okonomiyaki recipes, and the kinpira gobou × sauce issue is also resolved. Alright, case closed (*´ω`*)... But my stubborn friend will probably say, "Nori and nori seaweed are different," won't he? So, I'm now looking for recipes that combine seaweed and sauce. Do you have any local dishes like that? In my hometown, we eat isobe mochi with sauce poured over it! I searched online, but all I found were recipes using seaweed with sauce as a condiment. Oh well... Thanks for the meal!

Located one street off the road leading from Hibiya Street to the Kanda Nishiguchi shopping street, this bento shop caught my eye on my way back to the office from an outing. There were two gentlemen waiting in front of the shop, so I assumed they were lining up, but it turns out they were waiting for their orders. Inside the shop, there were countless menu items posted, and I chose the Nori Bento for 290 yen. Along with rice and seaweed, it included white fish fry, deep-fried fish cake, sautéed burdock, and pickled radish. The deep-fried fish cake and white fish fry were perfectly crispy, as if they were just fried! This was probably the first time I've had such a delicious nori bento (lol). It was very tasty, but there was a little incident where the liquid I poured on both the white fish fry and the deep-fried fish cake, thinking it was soy sauce, turned out to be sauce. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the small packet was labeled "sauce," but since there was only one condiment provided, I mistakenly assumed it was soy sauce, suitable for both the white fish fry and the deep-fried fish cake. In this case, it makes sense to have sauce with the white fish fry, but is sauce also meant for the deep-fried fish cake? Or should it be eaten without anything added? Personally, I believe that the deep-fried fish cake should be eaten as is without sauce, but I'm not entirely sure... Hmm. By the way, the clock at the register seems to be more than 30 minutes off, so the receipt might come in handy for creating an alibi when needed (´∀`)

On May 13, 2014 (Tuesday), in the salaryman heaven of Kanda Lunch Area, bento shops naturally compete with each other. Recently, mobile sales with kitchen cars have become more prominent, such as in front of Sankei Building, but even in the Ogawamachi area where restaurants are clustered, there are several bento shops. One of them, Yaki Sakana Bento, was recently reviewed praising its high cost performance (although it seems that prices have been raised recently, so I have attached additional menu photos after the price increase). Our shop is located nearby and I believe it is one of the best in this area in terms of cost performance, comparable to Yaki Sakana Bento. The predominantly yellow exterior may seem a bit cheap, but people who use our shop are actually attracted to that, so they won't mind at all. A grand menu with photos is displayed at the storefront, and the best-selling bentos are also posted inside the shop above the order counter, extracted from the grand menu. For example, Tonkatsu Bento, Hamburg Bento, and Karaage Bento are priced at 460 yen, and Shake Bento is 360 yen, which is surprisingly cheap. But the cheapest is the Nori Bento, which is only 280 yen. The Hot Mott Nori Bento is 320 yen, while it is 430 yen at Seven-Eleven, so the cheapness is surprising. (However, later when I told my eldest daughter about this, she recommended "Wakana" which is 270 yen...) However, the content is not that bad. On top of the nori, there is fried white fish and chikuwa tempura, with kinpira gobou and pickles on the side. Under the nori, there is furikake (so-called "sukiyaki") sprinkled, so you won't feel like there's not enough side dishes. Of course, it is a warm bento with freshly cooked rice, so it is different from a convenience store microwavable bento. Of course, considering the price, you may wonder if it's really good, but the rice is quite delicious, and you can be assured of satisfaction beyond the price. Our shop's highest-priced Deluxe Bento is 600 yen, but it is still the best to start with the Nori Bento to feel the goodness of our shop. (By the way, the customers who bought before and after me this time both bought Nori Bento (one of them bought the Special Nori Bento @ 380 yen). There are various types of bento shops in this area, from specialized shops like ours to shops that also sell bento at the storefront of restaurants, making it really confusing. Nevertheless, I feel that overall, bentos have improved a lot compared to the past. It is truly appreciated by us, but it must be tough for the shop owners.

Cheap, fast, and delicious. The operation is great, with the food coming out almost immediately after ordering and before reaching the cashier for payment. The staff mentioned that there wasn't much pre-made food, so sometimes it takes only 2 or 5 minutes. The cashier's customer service is excellent. I ordered the fried horse mackerel bento, which they said would take 5 minutes, but I decided to wait. Because who wouldn't want to eat freshly fried hot horse mackerel? And it only costs 290 yen! When I took a bite back at the office, it made a satisfying crunch sound, and the flavor spread beautifully. The piece was quite thick and filling, even though there was only one. And surprise, there was tartar sauce and potato salad underneath the fried fish! It also came with kinpira gobou and pickled radish for 290 yen. I added my own miso soup and ended up leaving some rice uneaten. While waiting, I noticed that the special seaweed bento was the most popular choice, priced at 390 yen. I'll have to try that next time. Also, if you add a salad to your bento, it's only 100 yen. Since the nearby bento shop closed down, I might start coming here more often.

I was thinking of getting a beef bowl from Matsuya, but for the same price of 390 yen, let me be clear, it's neither good nor bad. It's just average and perfectly fine to eat. Complaining about freshly fried food at this price point would be ridiculous. They also give you two packets of sauce, which I appreciate. These little details are what I like.
