Sunday afternoon. On this day, my wife and youngest daughter in second grade were not present, so my fifth grade daughter and I went out for lunch together. We decided to go to Fukuoka Airport's domestic terminal, with the intention of taking some photos of airplanes as well. We arrived at "Golden Pork" at Fukuoka Airport, a pork cutlet specialty store operated by the Royal Group, which also has a store at Haneda Airport Terminal 1. The Fukuoka Airport store opened in 2017, making it four years old. They use two types of pork meat: Kinsei Saga pork and Shigeno pork. Although I've been craving oysters lately for their nourishing benefits, this restaurant also offers a collaboration menu with oyster fry, so this time I chose the set meal with loin cutlet and Hiroshima oyster fry (Shigeno pork loin cutlet, 1680 yen excluding tax). You can choose between Kinsei Saga pork and Shigeno pork, but I opted for Shigeno pork this time as Kinsei pork is a bit pricier. First, a small mortar with sesame seeds was brought out. I was instructed to grind the sesame seeds first. Then, the set meal was served. The pork cutlet was sliced into six pieces, and there were two oyster fries. The pork meat was quite thick, and the oysters were also a good size. Rice, miso soup, and shredded cabbage are all-you-can-eat. They also served sauce with the ground sesame, with options of sweet or spicy. I chose the sweet sauce this time. Mixing the ground sesame with the sauce creates a paste, which you can dip the meat in while eating. The meat was tender with a good bite and a nice texture. It had some fat, but it melted in the mouth. Delicious! They also provided natural salt, so I tried that as well. The quality of the fat in the meat made it tasty even with just salt. The oyster fry came with tartar sauce, which I used to eat it. It was well-cooked, still hot inside even after some time, and the meat was tender. It was also delicious. The shredded cabbage came with corn dressing, which I poured over it. I think it was my first time trying corn dressing, but it was quite tasty. After finishing the meal, they served warm tea for a relaxing moment. This was my first time at this restaurant, and the price truly matched the quality of the food. A pork cutlet that doesn't make you feel heavy afterwards is truly a treat.
