I stayed at Matsukaze-so in Munakata City for the meals. Dinner was a flounder sashimi course (¥12100 for one night with two meals included). It was a room meal, and even though it was stated as one flounder dish for 2-3 people, we were a group of 4 so we got 2 dishes! Plenty and delicious! We also ordered squid sashimi (medium) for ¥3300 separately, which was so fresh and tasty! The meal included grilled shrimp with salt, Spanish mackerel in vinegar, squid dumplings, lotus root cakes, homemade sesame tofu, steamed egg custard, sazae shellfish in a pot, and hot fried yellowtail collar, among others. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all! We started with a bottle of beer for ¥750 and then ordered a 5-cup bottle of shochu for ¥3300. Water is free, but there is a charge of ¥280 for ice. But with such delicious appetizers, you need some drinks! We took the leftovers to the room for a drinking party with our own sake and shochu. Breakfast was also served in the private room with all homemade dishes, which were all delicious. The egg yolks were rich, and the egg over rice was so tasty. If you don't mind the exterior or the view of the building, the food is excellent! I was more satisfied with the authentic inn cuisine than with fancy modified dishes. I'm already planning to stay there again!

The atmosphere may not be considered stylish, but I was able to enjoy fresh squid and horse mackerel. I wanted to go to Kitakyushu, but I didn't have the energy to go to Yobuko, so I decided to eat squid in Munakata, and the freshness is undeniable. This restaurant doesn't offer delicate dishes, but rather presents the ingredients in a hearty manner, and I think it offers good value for the price. If you're looking for elegance, you might want to try a different restaurant. The fried garakabu (fish) came out one per person, and I was very satisfied as it's not something I often get to eat. I stayed at the accommodation, but next time I think I'll just come for the meal. I definitely want to come back for the food.

The first time I went, I was impressed by the deliciousness of Arakabu's fried chicken! The second time, it wasn't as impressive as the first time... I don't think I need to go again.

A few days ago, I visited the restaurant after making a reservation. My name was written on the welcome sign outside, which made me happy. When I entered the restaurant, the staff greeted me with a smile and escorted me to a private room. This time, I had the Genkai live squid set meal. The squid was delicious, and the whole fried Alaskan pollack was amazingly tasty! In addition, the meal included rape blossom ohitashi, sesame tofu, grilled turban shell, squid shumai, chawanmushi, salad, clear soup, rice, pickles, and dessert. Everything was delicious, and the staff were all friendly, making the dining experience enjoyable. This was my fifth visit, and I definitely want to come back again. As a side note, sometimes the restaurant may not have squid if you visit without a reservation (due to rough seas or bad weather affecting fishing). I recommend making a reservation before going.
