I went to "Tonkatsu Fuji I" in Asahi-ku, Osaka City. It is located just a short walk from the west exit of Senbayashi Station on the Keihan Main Line. The small and cozy interior with 7 straight counter seats is clean and comfortable. The menu features brand pork such as "Chiba Prefecture Lin SPF Pork," "TOKYO X," and "Iwajun Pork." After toasting with a bottle of Akahoshi, we start with shredded cabbage and a homemade dressing made with carrots and onions. Even though I came to eat tonkatsu that day, I couldn't stop eating (lol). The menu descriptions show that not only tonkatsu and homemade dressing, but also rice, miso soup, salt, and sauce are made with great care and love. - Iwajun Pork Loin: The crispy breadcrumbs and tender meat create a wonderful texture, and the flavor of the meat slowly spreads in your mouth. - TOKYO X Loin: The meat is tender and filled with a rich flavor, with a subtle sophistication. - Ooyama Chicken Breast Cutlet: Surprisingly tender and moist, with a lovely texture. - Minced Cutlet (recommended on rice): Juicy meat on freshly cooked rice. - Cod Milt Meuniere with Burnt Butter: Rich buttery flavor and creamy texture reminiscent of oysters. - TOKYO X Pork Loin: Switch from salt to sauce, enjoy the sweet oil and flavorful sauce with the fluffy rice. Pure bliss (lol). - Lin SPF Pork Rib Loin: Contrasting with TOKYO X, this pork has a rich flavor with plenty of fat. I'm glad I saved some rice till the end (lol). After cooling down with the shiitake mushroom stuffed with meat as dessert, I relaxed with herbal tea. This experience was quite a stimulating moment for me, who usually only eat pork shoulder cuts from the supermarket (lol). Thank you for the meal!

Fujii-san, a former French chef who transitioned to running a tonkatsu restaurant, incorporates his French culinary expertise into the preparation of tonkatsu, creating a unique dining experience that can only be found here. The highlight of the day was trying the newly introduced Chiyomaboroshi pork, a rare breed with only 0.007% of the national pork supply. We had the tenderloin and loin cuts of this special pork, both showcasing a fine texture and delicate flavor unlike any other pork. The tenderloin had a subtle pink hue and a moist, luxurious texture, while the loin impressed with its creamy, melt-in-your-mouth fatty marbling. The sauces, a mustard recipe passed down by a famous chef and a red wine-based sauce crafted by a former French chef, perfectly complemented the tonkatsu. Although we didn't try them on this visit, Fujii-san's minced cutlet and tenderloin cutlet are also highly recommended. This tonkatsu restaurant, praised by celebrities and featured in magazines, is gaining even more popularity, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Fujii-san's.

This day was a day trip to Osaka after a long time. For lunch, before the meeting, I had a lunch box called "Naho Bako" at Shinsaibashi The New World. In the evening, I really wanted to go to Tonkatsu Fuji'i in Senri Omiya, which was featured in the recent Amakara Techo magazine. When I checked the availability for the night, they said it was okay. As soon as the meeting ended, I went there at the opening time! I asked for the night course (normally requires reservation by the day before)! They started frying right away. It seems that it's become difficult to get a reservation for lunch without one. There were even two groups of customers who mentioned they came after seeing the Amakara Techo magazine! First, shredded cabbage, salt, mustard sauce, and tonkatsu sauce are served. 1. Yoshiju Pork Tenderloin I tried Yoshiju pork for the first time. It's said to be the oldest SPF pork in Japan. They say it has fewer bacteria than tuna. I tried the first bite without anything. Juicy, tender♪ The taste of the meat itself is light. The pepper flavor enhances the aroma of the meat. Eating it with salt brings out the umami of the meat even more. The sensation when swallowing is simply amazing. 2. Minced Cutlet This is an outstanding dish that you must try! Don't forget to eat it♪ Rice and miso soup are served with the minced cutlet. I tried it without anything... Delicious! It's been a while, but it's clearly more delicious. Rich, sweet, and delicious... I can confidently say it's the best minced cutlet in Japan. The mustard sauce from Kushikatsu Aahbon goes really well with it. It was amazing! 3. Chicken Cutlet Beautiful... The cut surface is so beautiful. Shining white and uniform. I tried it without anything... Amazing... Delicious... It's even more delicious than the best part of the tonkatsu, in my opinion. It's due to the perfect cooking and the delicious coating. I think the tonkatsu sauce goes well with this one. 4. Minami-nu Pork Rib Roast It's called "Painu Pork". It's the pig that inspired Tonkatsu Fuji'i to become a tonkatsu restaurant. It's an Aguu pork raised on pineapples. I tried it for the first time today. I tried it without anything... The fat is very sweet and delicious! And it's not heavy at all. The aftertaste is refreshing. The lean part feels quite firm. It was very delicious. I had herbal tea and felt refreshed! It was amazing today too! It's been a while since I visited, and the overall level has improved. The tonkatsu itself, as well as the rice, miso soup, and shredded cabbage, everything was delicious. I got the impression that they have truly become a tonkatsu restaurant. The characteristic of their tonkatsu is the delicious coating rather than the seasoning of the meat. If you happen to visit here after reading this review, please try to be conscious of this. You might feel a slightly gentle flavor and taste coming from the coating. I will definitely find another opportunity to visit again! Thank you for the delicious meal! The best!

岩中豚リブロースカツ定食 3,000円 Juicy Minced Cutlet 400 yen Located in Senbayashi, this tonkatsu restaurant, "Tonkatsu Fuji I," became extremely popular within a year of opening. I finally had the chance to visit and was impressed by the calm atmosphere of the counter-only restaurant. I ordered the rib loin cutlet made with Iwachu pork, a rare find in Osaka. The Iwachu pork was incredibly juicy and flavorful, with the fat oozing out as soon as you take a bite. The attention to detail in the breading of the tonkatsu is what makes this place stand out. The juicy minced cutlet was also a must-try, bursting with meat juices. The rice, with its sweet aroma, was also a pleasant surprise. One serving of rice is complimentary, and I couldn't resist getting a refill. Overall, a delightful dining experience that I highly recommend!

Visited on Sunday at 11:20 with a reservation. Surprisingly, there was only one seat available but it was empty. It took about 20 minutes until the food was served. I think part of the reason was that I arrived early for the 11:30 reservation. This place seems to focus on the taste of the batter. Well, I didn't really understand that, but anyway, it was delicious. The cooking was done well and the fat was also tasty. No complaints. The additional menchi-katsu was very juicy and the broth overflowed. The flavor was strong. I was told to eat the first bite without adding anything, but it was totally fine to not add anything even after the first bite. The staff's consideration was great, and it was a bit mysterious that there were available reservations.

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant with a group of 6 people. We received polite service, which made us happy. We ordered the daily special, loin cutlet, and rib loin, and they all looked delicious. I had the loin cutlet, which was tasty with just the right amount of fat and not heavy. It was easy to chew and had a good meaty flavor. The carrot dressing was a must-try, it was the best dressing I've ever had. Good tonkatsu restaurants always have delicious rice and miso soup, right?

Located in a small alley just around the first corner from Senbayashi Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, this tonkatsu restaurant is easy for women to dine alone. The cozy restaurant has a counter with 7 seats, and the friendly owner will make you feel comfortable dining solo. You can choose from various brands of pork (such as Minaminu pork, Iwanaka pork, Nichinan Mochi pork, and Hosho pork) for your tonkatsu, which comes with salad, miso soup, and rice. Prices range from 2,750 to 4,000 yen. I recommend trying the menchi katsu and sashimi katsu, which are additional menu items you can order after getting a set. If you try these, you'll be amazed and wonder what you've been eating as tonkatsu until now. Menchi katsu and sashimi katsu are both 400 yen each.

Tonkatsu is no longer cooked at low temperatures... So, for lunch, I was thinking of going to some new place, but then I realized "Chinomi is closer!" But Mr. Nakamura... is off!! So, I went to Fujii, a place I had never been before. The owner in a baseball uniform-like outfit and the attentive hostess served me the Iwanaka pork rib roast. It's best to eat it without any condiments!

Today's stop was at a tonkatsu restaurant in Osaka Prefecture. It's great that you can make reservations, especially on a scorching hot day like today. The cozy interior has only a counter, where a cheerful couple runs the place. They offer various types of pork like Iwachu pork, Agu pork, and TOKYO-X, but I opted for the Chiba Prefecture-produced Rin SPF pork. - Rosu Katsu Set (Chiba Prefecture-produced Rin SPF): They serve the fatty part separately. The perfectly cooked meat has a slight pink hue, tender with a hint of sweetness. - Hire Katsu Set (Chiba Prefecture-produced Rin SPF): The core of the meat has a wonderful pink hue, and although it's tenderloin, it's juicy and delicious. I'm sure this place will be selected for the top 100 restaurants list next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is upscale, but thanks to the friendly proprietress, you can enjoy your meal without feeling nervous. The owner also greets you warmly, making the whole experience very pleasant. Considering the quality, the prices are very reasonable! The tonkatsu has a slightly flavorful batter, and I found that the meat with a good amount of fat was more delicious than the lean meat.

To celebrate our upcoming first anniversary, we reserved the night-only tonkatsu course at Fuji-san. The tonkatsu course consists of fillet, loin, and two side dishes, showcasing the charms of Fuji-san. We also upgraded the grade to have the loin replaced with Minami Nippon pork, a rare breed with a production of only about 300 heads in Osaka. The two side dishes included fried hamo and a summer version of minced meat with summer vegetables, offering a slightly different menu than usual. Particularly, the minced meat cutlet in the summer version had a perfect combination of slimy okra and juicy meat, making it delicious even without tonkatsu sauce. The Minami Nippon pork, a staple at Fuji-san, had a tender texture with a perfect balance of fat and lean meat. Despite the unchanged menu structure, the night course at Fuji-san never fails to impress, and we never get tired of it. Thank you for the feast, Fuji-san.

Lunch at Tonkatsu Fujii. Agu pork, Minami pork, Painu Buta loin cutlet 200g. Partnered with Tokyo X loin cutlet 180g. The popular minced cutlet is so juicy that you can't stop eating it. The Minami pork was delayed due to a typhoon, but finally arrived this morning. The precious Agu pork was incredibly delicious, just as it looks. The partner's Tokyo X pork, also a rare breed, has a firm and tasty meat quality.

I made a reservation for 1:00 pm on a regular day and visited the restaurant. The lunch for that day was fully booked, so I decided to come back for dinner. I ordered the TOKYO X rib roast. The rib roast was flavorful and cooked perfectly, it was very delicious. I also really enjoyed the red miso soup. It seems like the restaurant is quite popular and often fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation before visiting for a safe experience.

No compromise on the tonkatsu path! At the tonkatsu specialty shop "Tonkatsu Fuji I," run by a French-trained owner who ensures both juicy fatty loin lovers and lean tenderloin enthusiasts leave satisfied, you'll find a selection of premium pork brands such as "Hayashi SPF," "Iwanaka Pork," "TOKYO X," "Nichinan Mochi Pork," and "Yoshisu Pork." The shop's specialty is the "Minami Nu Pork" from Ishigaki Island, which only about 500 heads are shipped annually. The shop is located a bit off the beaten path from the historic "Senbayashi Shopping Street," one of Osaka's three major shopping streets with over 100 years of history. The cozy interior exudes an adult atmosphere, with only 7 counter seats and attentive service from the staff. The lunch set menu features a variety of options, including the popular "Minced Cutlet" and "Sasami Cutlet." During my visit, I opted for the weekday lunch set, which included the daily special "Hire Cutlet 70g" and a choice between "Minced Cutlet" or "Sasami Cutlet." The cutlets were expertly fried to perfection, with a crispy coating and tender, flavorful meat. The Sasami Cutlet was surprisingly plump and crispy, while the Hire Cutlet showcased a beautiful pink color and a delicate sweetness. Each bite was bursting with umami and juices, without any unpleasant odors or greasiness. The sides of cabbage, dressing, miso soup, and rice were all of exceptional quality, making for a truly satisfying meal. To finish, a refreshing mint herbal tea was served, cleansing the palate. The owner and his wife were welcoming and passionate about their craft, creating a warm and inviting dining experience. "Tonkatsu Fuji I" may have only opened in September 2022, but it has quickly become a popular spot for tonkatsu enthusiasts. Reservations are recommended, and can easily be made through the shop's Instagram DM or official LINE account. Overall, a wonderful dining experience at "Tonkatsu Fuji I" - highly recommended!

Fujii, a tonkatsu restaurant in Osaka, is gaining popularity rapidly. Although not listed in the top 100 restaurants, it has overwhelmingly high ratings and is definitely worth a visit. I went there for lunch on a weekday and made a reservation the day before. The interior of the restaurant is clean and has only counter seating. There is a board with detailed explanations of the tonkatsu and other dishes that catches your eye. It seems to be run by a couple. I ordered the hire (fillet), menchi, and sasami katsu, which caught my attention from reviews. You can choose from 3 types of meat, and I chose the Hinata Mochi Pork. You can watch the meticulous preparation at the counter as the dishes are slowly cooked. I was impressed by the careful work of the owner. It takes about 20 minutes for the food to be served, and the sound of sizzling oil made me even more hungry. The hire (fillet) that was served was perfectly round and cooked just right. I tried it without any sauce at first. The soft fillet flavor slowly spreads in your mouth, and you can also enjoy the meat juices. The pepper sprinkled on top adds a nice touch, so I thought it might be better to have the pepper on a separate plate because the taste of the meat is amazing. Next, I tried the menchi, which was served at just the right timing. This menchi was incredibly delicious!! Of course, it was piping hot, the inside was pure white, and the meat juices were overflowing. The onions were crunchy as well. I didn't need any sauce for this (although menchi often makes you want sauce, here it's best as is). This menchi alone could be the signature dish. And it's only 400 yen. It could be priced higher. A must-try. Lastly, the sasami katsu. It was so tender that it made you think there was no meat, just the crispy coating. Where did the sasami's muscle fibers go? The staff communicate with you about the timing of the dishes, which is appreciated. I had another serving of rice and cabbage. The cabbage comes with homemade dressing (carrot, sesame), and although I usually don't put anything on it, I wanted to try it. It had a sweet taste and was delicious. Above all, the service from the couple was fantastic. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and the prices were reasonable. I was very satisfied. Due to the limited capacity of the restaurant, it seems to be becoming a popular spot that is difficult to reserve quickly.

Within less than a year, Tonkatsu Fuji Ii in Osaka has unexpectedly risen to 2nd place on Tabelog (a popular restaurant review site) rankings. Nationally, it is tied for 11th place, and it seems like it may soon break into the top 10. While Tabelog ratings aren't everything, the momentum of this restaurant is undeniable. A popular choice at Fuji Ii is their evening-only Tonkatsu course, which includes fillet, loin, and two side dishes, allowing guests to fully enjoy what the restaurant has to offer. By upgrading the course, customers can even choose to have the rare and exquisite Minami Nubuta pork loin, a delicacy unique to Osaka. Among the side dishes, the most popular is the minced cutlet. While many tonkatsu restaurants offer minced cutlets, Fuji Ii stands out for its juicy and flavorful rendition. The meat juice seeps into the rice when pressed, enhancing the overall taste experience. Despite the recent popularity of the Minami Nubuta pork, the writer's personal recommendation at Fuji Ii was the fillet cutlet. The meticulously prepared fillet offers a tender and delicate texture, showcasing the natural quality of the pork. The secret to Fuji Ii's deliciousness lies in its ability to combine the exceptional flavor of branded pork with the quality of its batter and seasoning, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. This reviewer considers Fuji Ii a must-visit tonkatsu restaurant and looks forward to returning monthly.

I had made a reservation for the Nan Nu Buta Rib Roast and Iwajun Buta Helle set meals, as well as the homemade juicy minced cutlet, which I had been interested in after seeing it in the Amakara Techo magazine. Finally, on the day of my visit at 11:00, the seats were all filled with the 7 counter seats being reserved. The tonkatsu, starting with the Iwajun Buta Helle, was so tender that even my wife was speechless. The Nan Nu Buta was juicy and delicious with a sweet oil flavor. The minced cutlet, which was featured in yesterday's Amakara Techo as "drinkable minced cutlet," was indeed fluffy and overflowing with oil, making it amazing. I definitely want to go back again. Thank you very much.

Recently, there has been an increase in Tokyo-style tonkatsu restaurants that use branded pork. I tried the evening course which included loin from "Nanbu pork", as well as options to switch to tenderloin, minced cutlet, shrimp fry, and chicken cutlet. The tonkatsu was truly delicious, but the minced cutlet and chicken cutlet were particularly tasty. I highly recommend trying them when you visit this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Located a 2-3 minute walk from Senrin Station, this tonkatsu specialty restaurant is highly recommended. There is also a popular restaurant nearby, but this one is also worth trying. This time, we tried the Lin SPF rib loin katsu and the tenderloin katsu. Honestly, although there are several places in Osaka that offer Lin SPF, I have never tasted one as delicious as this. The sweetness of the meat fills your mouth. The popular tenderloin katsu is also amazing! The meat is moist and tender, requiring no effort to chew.

Located close to Senbayashi Station in Osaka's Asahi Ward, "Tonkatsu Fuji-i" is a cozy tonkatsu restaurant run by a former French chef turned tonkatsu master. With only 7 counter seats, this establishment prides itself on using high-quality ingredients such as Lin SP pork from Chiba, Iwachu pork from Iwate, and TOKYOX brand pork. The menu varies daily, offering meticulously prepared tonkatsu using the best cuts of meat like fillet and tenderloin. This restaurant is without a doubt one of the top tonkatsu spots in Osaka, comparable to renowned establishments in Tokyo. During lunch hours, there is a 60-minute time limit, while dinner service allows for a leisurely 90-minute dining experience. In addition to set meals, customers can also order extra items like fillet cutlets and minced meat cutlets. The perfectly cooked fillet and tenderloin are highlights here, showcasing the chef's skillful technique. Reservations can be easily made through the official LINE account, making it convenient for solo diners like myself. If you're on the hunt for delicious tonkatsu, this is a must-visit spot!
