I like Fukusaya's castella the best. I sometimes crave it and went to buy it at Kintetsu Department Store. It costs 1,188 yen for a 0.6 size. It is moist and sweet with plenty of zaramame. They accept various electronic payments such as PayPay.

I heard from a friend that this place often sells out by the evening, so I decided to buy it after work. I'm going out for drinks later, so I'll bring it as a souvenir. It's delicious, and I think it's worth buying in bulk. Which color should I choose? I feel like buying different colors even though the contents are the same. I'm sure if they're available again when I pass by, I'll end up buying one for myself and one for someone else. That's how it goes these days.

I received Fukusaya's castella as a souvenir~♡ When it comes to castella, Fukusaya's is my favorite^ - ^ I often buy it myself, and also receive it as a gift. It has a refined sweetness, not too sweet, and the moist texture of the cake is superb. The best part is definitely the zaramé at the bottom. When I buy it in the summer, the zaramé tends to melt a bit due to the weather, but in the winter, thanks to the temperature, it seems like there is a high probability of having lots of zaramé (≧∇≦) I'm so happy~. It only lasts about a week from the purchase date, so I recommend buying the smallest size! It's a specialty of Nagasaki, but now you can buy it almost anywhere, which is great♡

Purchased in July 2009: Castella (size 0.5) for 840 yen. I bought a small size to snack on while studying for exams. I always buy Castella at Fukusaya, but I keep thinking I should try the cocoa-flavored Dutch cake someday... yet I always end up buying Castella again (laughs). The Castella (size 0.5) has a fine texture and a strong egg flavor with richness. However, since it's a Japanese sweet, the sweetness is quite intense. The accent of Zaramé is nice, but I feel like the sweetness could be a bit more subtle. Personally, I hope to try the Dutch cake next time (laughs).

I received a castella cake~ I really like the castella from this shop♪ It looks more yellow and beautiful compared to other shops (^^) The sugar crystals at the bottom are still visible and delicious☆ The castella itself is a bit dry, but overall it is moist, which is good↑ It's not too sweet, so it's easy to eat and delicious (●´ω`●)ゞ Each slice is individually cut, so you can eat it right away after buying it, which is also nice! I had it at the office, and one of the salesmen didn't notice the paper at the bottom and ate it together with the castella, which became a funny incident (lol) I enjoyed it very much☆

I bought this Dutch cake at the Kintetsu Abeno store. The zarame castella is famous, but this time I chose the Dutch cake. The Dutch cake comes in three sizes: 0.5 (280g) for 840 yen, 0.7 (395g) for 1201 yen, and 1 (560g) for 1680 yen. I bought the smallest size, 0.5. The castella in 0.5 size is 290g (840 yen), so the Dutch cake is slightly more expensive. The expiration date is one week, and I bought it on a Sunday and ate it on Wednesday, three days later. The Dutch cake has cocoa kneaded into the dough, with walnuts and raisins inside. There are plenty of raisins but fewer walnuts. The dough is moist and quite elastic. The taste is naturally cocoa-flavored, with just the right amount of sweetness, and even after three days, it still tastes delicious. I'm not very familiar with sweets, but I thought it tasted like gateau chocolat. With a one-week shelf life, you can eat it at your convenience, which I find convenient.

I compared Nagasaki's representative castella, Fukusaya, with Osaka's representative castella, Ginnoyakata, with four friends. First, the color of the sponge. Fukusaya is yellow, while Ginnoyakata is more white. Next, the texture. Fukusaya has a dense and moist texture, while Ginnoyakata is lighter and more like a sponge cake. Compared to Fukusaya, Ginnoyakata feels a bit dry. Fukusaya naturally has the crunchy sugar coating. The crunchy texture of the sugar coating is irresistible! I believe that the sugar coating is the essence of castella. On the other hand, Ginnoyakata does not have a sugar coating. The victory goes to Fukusaya!

Fukusaya's castella is not meant to be eaten immediately after opening. After comparing about 10 famous Nagasaki castella shops, I returned to Fukusaya. On the day of opening, it is decently tasty, but nothing special. If left at room temperature for 3 days after opening, it becomes exquisite in flavor. If you can resist for a week until the expiration date, it matures even more, becoming moist and chewy. Leave it for another 3 days for the best taste. However, if not opened, eating it before the expiration date won't be as impressive. It is completely different from other shops' castella. If you like sugar grains, go for size 1, if not, size 0.6 is better. Size 1 is more likely to have plenty of sugar grains. The way to eat it is the same as Gosen-yaki. The more it matures, the deeper the flavor becomes. I have been researching the best way to eat it for a year, and used to buy 3-4 pieces every week. At Harukas, they will serve older ones unless you specify otherwise. It may be appreciated by those who prefer older items, but it is usually reserved for gifts. I think it's not ideal to sell items that are 3 or 4 days past the production date as if nothing happened.

The shop is located in Kintetsu Department Store. Although it may be a bit pricey, I love Fukusaya's castella the most. The texture, taste, sweetness, and coarse sugar are all perfectly balanced. It's so delicious that my family and I are big fans! Prices range from 840 yen for a 0.5 size to 8,400 yen for a 1 size with 5 pieces. They also sell Dutch cake with cocoa flavor, assorted packs, and cream puffs. You can also find them at Hankyu, Hanshin, and Takashimaya. Writing about it made me crave it again, so I want to go buy some soon!

I have received castella as a souvenir from Nagasaki several times. I usually only eat simple flavored castella, so this time I bought the cocoa flavor. It has raisins in it, and it's moist and tastes like chocolate cake. I personally liked the cocoa flavor I bought this time better. The simple castella also has sugar on the bottom, making it sweet, and the dough is fluffy and delicious. I thought I could only eat it as a souvenir from Nagasaki, so I'm glad I could buy it at the department store. The packaging is also meticulous and would be appreciated as a gift.

I sometimes buy items to give as gifts, and sometimes receive them as well. I usually buy a set of two Castella cakes and Dutch cakes for around 3600 yen. The Castella cake here has a truly authentic taste - rich, moist, with a delicious crunchy texture from the sugar. Just looking at its yellow color makes me feel happy. In recent times, the Dutch cake has been getting more praise when given as a gift. The balance of walnut, raisin, and chocolate flavors is just perfect, not too sweet, making it a great accompaniment to tea. The only downside is that it has a short shelf life, but if you wrap it in plastic wrap, you can still enjoy its delicious taste.

I finally got to try the Castella from Fukuzaoya that I've been wanting to eat for a long time. I often buy it as a souvenir, but this time I purchased it for myself. Fukuzaoya is a famous store in Kansai and I bought it in Abeno. They offer a wide variety of sizes for their classic Castella, so you can definitely find the perfect size for you. I bought the smallest size, 0.5, for 840 yen. The crispy sugar on the bottom is delicious and tastes like a snack. I also bought another cake that caught my eye, the Dutch Cake. It's like an arranged version of Castella with a fluffy texture, cocoa flavor, and the addition of walnuts and raisins, creating a smooth cake. I was impressed by the taste! Next time, I plan to choose the Dutch Cake as a souvenir.
