Dinner time at the izakaya "Shinsen Dokoro Totoro" in Shinmachi 2-chome. This restaurant, which I have visited a few times while Tabelog is on break, is run by an elderly couple who work together. Celebrities also visit this place, and the late Haruma Miura used to frequent this restaurant whenever he came to Osaka. The kind owner shares heartwarming stories about Miura-san. We started with a highball and shochu high, cheers! Tonight, we had cucumber pickles, fresh squid sashimi, grilled chicken thighs, fried goby fish, and onigiri. All the dishes made by the owner were delicious, and the freshness of the sashimi was outstanding. In the latter half of the meal, we enjoyed a glass of wine and had a relaxing dinner, feeling good once again tonight. The restaurant only has table seating, but it's okay to dine alone. Please note that they do not accept credit cards. It's a cozy and welcoming izakaya. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Totoro for the first time with my dining companions to enjoy some delicious food! We came here with the intention of trying the Ankimo liver hot pot. Before the main hot pot arrived, we were served a fresh assortment of five different cuts of horse sashimi. It was a rare selection and we could feel the restaurant's dedication to quality. The soy sauce served with the sashimi was specifically for horse meat, enhancing the sweetness of the meat. Then, the main dish, the Ankimo liver hot pot, was served. The soup was truly liver-filled! It was so delicious that I couldn't help but have multiple servings of the soup alone! The atmosphere of the restaurant felt like a cozy izakaya with a friendly motherly figure present, but the food was outstanding! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

We used the company's farewell party as an opportunity to make a reservation at this restaurant! We booked the Ankimo Liver Course. I couldn't forget the memories of eating dobu-nabe at this restaurant about 10 years ago, so I chose this place this time! We started with a platter of horse sashimi! It was the most delicious horse sashimi I've ever had, with a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. And then grilled oysters, the oyster tempura was also very large and very filling. And of course, the ankou nabe. The ankou liver was plentiful and you could eat as much as you wanted, a very satisfying hot pot!

The first visit was when the desire to eat monkfish liver to my heart's content emerged. Monkfish liver, along with blowfish sperm, is considered a delicious delicacy, but if the cooking goes wrong, it can turn into something awkward or rubbery. It's a truly deep ingredient. The visited restaurant "Totoro" is rumored to be a top-notch place for monkfish liver hot pot. I was looking forward to it. Now, I enjoy the dishes leading up to the main monkfish liver hot pot. The oysters are delicious. The main monkfish liver hot pot is a "flood of flavor." It's just so delicious. Endlessly delicious. The female owner and her husband are both friendly and kind people. They have a nice selection of Japanese sake. I want to go back again because they have various hot pots depending on the season.

It was cold and we were all excited about wanting to eat hot pot. We stumbled upon a restaurant called "Totoro" that changes its specialty hot pot seasonally. Currently, they are serving anglerfish hot pot which we reserved in advance. The hot pot had a rich and flavorful soup filled with anglerfish liver, it was amazing! It was not the light and refreshing vegetable-based hot pot, but a hearty anglerfish hot pot. Thank you for the delicious meal, we will definitely be back again.

On the final night of the 3-day holiday in October, I decided to have dinner in the neighborhood around Nishi-Ohashi to Nishi-Nagahori, in the middle of Nishimachi 2-chome. Surprisingly, there were quite a few open restaurants, and I visited a place I hadn't been to in a long time, about 20 years - Totoro. This restaurant specializes in horse and fish dishes and has a newly renovated interior. We started with a toast of draft beer (Sapporo) and were served with okara and simmered daikon as appetizers. Then, we ordered black soybeans, a platter of three kinds of pickled fish (sardine, horse mackerel, and mackerel), pickled Chinese cabbage, grilled beef intestines, stir-fried chicken tenderloin with black pepper, cherry blossom yukhoe, grilled udon noodles, and two glasses of Kirishima Yoshisuke (black) shochu. The couple who run the restaurant have been in business for about 25 years, and the wife manages the place efficiently and attentively. It was a delicious meal.

I visited the restaurant because I heard their anglerfish hot pot is delicious. We ordered anglerfish hot pot, horse sashimi, and oysters. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, but the bill came to 35,000 yen for 3 people eating and drinking. It's a bit expensive.

The rich anglerfish liver hot pot. The soup was incredibly delicious, but the anglerfish meat had a slight smell which was disappointing. The soup alone was delicious enough. Horse meat is also available, but it requires thawing, so it takes time to be served...

Hello! Yesterday was the announcement of the Akutagawa Prize, but I would like to read about Yūkiko Motoya's marriage feelings. Now, I made a reservation for monkfish hot pot at Totoro in Shinmachi the other day. Monkfish liver, known as the foie gras of the sea, is said to be the best ingredient for dieting. This time, I started a kind of undercover reporting project. Here is the atmosphere inside the restaurant. The photo is a bit blurry as I'm just starting out. The landlady and the chef (the chef is in the kitchen so I couldn't take a photo) give a very kind impression. They seemed a bit busy probably because the orders were a bit biased. This restaurant seems to have customers from the entertainment industry as well, as the staff from "Gobugobu" seem to visit. The restaurant provides sheets for dining. It's a bit on the expensive side, haha... The appetizers are ham mayo and bean sprout namul. The namul is homemade. This is the monkfish hot pot!! It's for two people but quite a large portion. It's not a monkfish hot pot, but a monk liver hot pot!!! The soup is rich with liver. It's a rich soup filled with monk liver. It's a bit too rich, but restaurants that value such ingredients probably highlight this kind of broth. There are plenty of mushroom-based vegetables, which blend well with the liver soup. The monkfish meat is soft and fluffy, and delicious. The liver flavor is strong, so it goes well with alcohol. A slightly light alcohol would be nice, haha... A "Gobugobu" sake?
