I visited around 11:30 on Sunday. There were 2 groups waiting, but I didn't have to wait long to get in. It took about 10 minutes for my order to come out. You can choose the amount of rice for free - large, medium, or small. The crispy fried cutlet was delicious, and the rice and miso soup were also tasty. I would like to go back again when I'm in the area.

I ordered the Hamburg steak set for 1000 yen. The demi-glace hamburg steak came with two small hamburg steaks and a sunny-side-up egg. When they asked me about the amount of rice, I requested a large portion! I always order large portions haha. The demi-glace sauce was plentiful and the hamburg steak was delicious. The shredded cabbage on the side was a generous amount, which made me happy as I like to eat a lot of vegetables. There was dressing on the table, so I drizzled it over the vegetables. After enjoying the vegetables, I found that the combination of the hamburg steak with demi-glace sauce was perfect. I also topped it with the sunny-side-up egg and the large portion of rice was just right, and I finished it all. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! ♡

I visited the long-established Osaka Grill in the Shin-Umeda Food Street. This was my first time here, even though I often visit the Shin-Umeda Food Street. The exterior has a retro Showa-era vibe with sample displays, and inside, there is a small ticket machine and functional U-shaped counter seats, giving it a casual and welcoming atmosphere. The menu includes their specialty, Volga, as well as daily specials, rice bowls, katsu-don, sauce katsu-don, shrimp fry-don, grated helle katsu-don, omurice, curry rice, hamburger steak set, katsu curry, shrimp fry set, helle katsu set, beef katsu set, special set, double katsu set, and more. The daily rice bowl is always the shrimp helle katsu-don, which is a well-known fact. I ordered their most popular dish, the Volga, with a medium portion of rice. It arrived in about 6 minutes, looking deliciously brown-dominated. The Volga rice came with a side salad and miso soup. The Volga rice is essentially a katsu-topped omurice, with ketchup rice as the base, topped with an omelet and katsu, then drizzled with demi-glace sauce. The taste was as expected, but the demi-glace sauce was the highlight. The overall flavor was slightly mild, with no salty taste in the egg. The onion miso soup had a traditional taste, making the meal a unique blend of Japanese and Western flavors. I would like to try other dishes here again. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In the middle of Shin-Umeda Food Street, there is a Western-style restaurant with only counter and wall seats. I ordered the special set meal for 1100 yen. The service was quick! I asked for a small amount of rice, but it was still a sufficient portion. The meal included a hamburger, 2 fried shrimps, and a fluffy omelette. It also came with a salad and macaroni. The flavors were not too strong, just right. It's a kind Western-style restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

On Saturday at 5:30 PM, I tried a new restaurant called Osaka Grill because my usual Western-style restaurant is always crowded at this time. I ordered their specialty dish "Boruga" and the service set meal. You can choose the portion size of rice for the set meal. Boruga is omurice with tonkatsu and demiglace sauce. The service set meal includes hamburger, tonkatsu, and shrimp fry. It was great to be able to enjoy the meal without any waiting time.

I had the Ebi Hire Katsu don. Although the Katsu don looked delicious as well, I decided to try the daily special menu that allows you to enjoy both Ebi Fry and Hire Katsu. Apparently, this menu is famous for not changing daily as the name suggests. The dish consisted of a large Ebi Fry and a flat piece of Hire Katsu served with egg topping. Rice can be upsized for free, but even with the upsized portion, the bowl seemed small! It's not that the bowl is large and makes it look small, but rather it's a small bowl similar to those used for small udon dishes. Even with the upsized portion, it seemed to have less rice than a regular Yoshinoya beef bowl, and if ordered in regular size, it would probably be similar to the small size of beef bowls at other restaurants. The place is usually quite crowded, perhaps due to its location, and most people seem to order the famous Katsu-topped omurice. The interior has an old-fashioned layout with a counter in a distorted L-shape. I would like to try the famous menu items as well, but the atmosphere is not very conducive to a relaxed meal, so it didn't suit my preference for a leisurely dining experience.

Located in Shin Umeda Food Street. With a rating of 3.48 on Tabelog, this Western food stand is easy for solo diners to enter. I imagined it to be a traditional Western food restaurant, but the interior was more like a casual Yoshinoya. Two young male staff members were operating the place, which was a bit unexpected. You purchase your meal at a small ticket machine at the entrance, and I chose the recommended menu item "Borga" for 1,150 yen. You can choose the amount of rice for free, so I ordered a large portion. I had no prior knowledge, so I was curious about what it would be like, but when it arrived, I immediately understood (laughs). It turned out to be omurice with tonkatsu and demi-glace sauce. The large portion had a decent amount of food, and it also came with a salad, so the nutritional balance was good. The tonkatsu was crispy and easy to eat because the meat was not too thick. The demi-glace sauce was average. The omurice had very little filling, just thin ketchup rice. It also came with miso soup. If I were to visit again, I would try a different menu. Thank you for the meal.

I used to live in Hokuriku and couldn't try Fukui's local dish, Volga Rice. I came here to try it and it was delicious with a generous portion size. You can even get a free upgrade to a large serving. The miso soup served with it gives a nostalgic Western-Japanese fusion vibe. Amazing!

I was in Umeda and had some time, so I decided to go to a Chinese restaurant in Sanko. Unfortunately, it was closed for the day. I went back to Umeda and visited Osaka Grill, which has been featured in the media. I ordered the "Bolga" dish. It arrived in just 5 minutes - a plate with omurice topped with tonkatsu and demiglace sauce. It was a delicious and satisfying meal. The tonkatsu was thick and juicy, and the demiglace sauce was tasty. The omurice was packed tightly with ketchup rice, making it a high-density dish. I was very happy with my lunch, although I think it would have been even better with a little more demiglace sauce. Thank you for the delicious meal!

On Sunday at 11:15, I went to "Osaka Grille" in the new Umeda dining district. I ordered the number one popular dish, "Bolga" for 1,150 yen, without knowing what it was. It was featured on the show "Yo-i Don!" and seemed to be a highly recommended dish. It arrived in 4 minutes. I took a bite. Delicious. I see now. "Bolga" is a dish with tonkatsu on top of omurice, topped with demi-glace sauce. When I looked up "Bolga" online, I found out that it is a soul food called "Bolga Rice" that has been loved by the locals in Takefu, Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture for over 30 years. The tonkatsu on top is made with pork that has just the right amount of fat, and seems to be quite filling. The egg on the omurice is fluffy, and the inside is the nostalgic ketchup rice. Personally, I wish there was a bit more demi-glace sauce on top. Surprisingly, there were many elderly male customers. It seems like there are a lot of regulars from the old days. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at 12:29 on a regular day. First, I bought a meal ticket and sat down to wait. The donburi arrived at 12:40. The daily special donburi costs 650 yen (tax included) and today's special is the shrimp and pork cutlet donburi. It was featured on TV the other day, and apparently the daily special is always the shrimp and pork cutlet donburi. The dish consists of one shrimp fry and a pork cutlet topped with egg. The shrimp fry was average in size, similar to what you would find in a bento box, but the pork cutlet was delicious. I liked the slightly crispy texture of the batter soaked in the sauce. The miso soup that came with it made the 650 yen price quite worth it. Most of the other customers were eating the signature dish, Volga. Next time, I would like to try the Volga as well. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

I went to "Oosakaguriru," where the "Bolga Teishoku" is very popular. It is located on the 1st floor of the "Shin Umeda Shokudo Gai." I ordered the "Ebi Hirekatsu Don" from the daily special menu for 650 yen. Despite being a daily special, the "Ebi Hirekatsu Don" is always available and never changes. It comes with miso soup. The reason for its popularity is that it never changes. The portion may seem small, but the flavor is just right. It's cheap and delicious! There is a famous Osaka grill known for a dish called "Bolgarice". I ended up having the pork cutlet bowl on a whim. The pork cutlet bowl costs 650 yen and you can get extra rice for free. The pork cutlet bowl had a good balance of egg whites and yolks. The meat was a bit thin and lacked impact compared to the thick breading. The seasoning was very mild, almost like Kansai style, but actually quite bland. However, it was quite soupy, so maybe the overall balance was good? The onions were chopped too finely and not suitable for a pork cutlet bowl. There was very little Mitsuba (Japanese parsley). The miso soup was average. The soupy pork cutlet bowl ended up tasting like pork cutlet rice bowl. Maybe Western-style dishes are better here. Thank you for the meal.

Popular restaurant where you can enjoy hearty Western-style dishes, with the most popular being Volga♡ Visited during lunchtime on a weekday, as it has been featured on TV. Despite the high percentage of male customers due to the hearty dishes, it's not a concern. Ordered the most popular Volga dish for ¥1150. It's an omurice with a fluffy egg omelette on top of crispy breaded cutlet, all covered in demi-glace sauce! Surprisingly filling and delicious!笑笑笑

Omelette rice for 650 yen. I visited the restaurant on a weekday at 6 pm. About half of the seats were occupied. I purchased a ticket at the entrance ticket machine. When I sat down, the staff came to collect the ticket and asked me about the amount of rice I wanted. I always thought that Western-style restaurants take their time to serve food, but in about 2-3 minutes, the omelette rice arrived! I was surprised by how quickly it was served. The omelette rice was a traditional style and came with miso soup, which was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

A Western-style restaurant located in Umeda Shinshokudo-gai at Hankyu Umeda Station in Osaka City. The interior of the restaurant has a traditional atmosphere, and you can enjoy relatively affordable meals. They offer two types of daily specials: set meals and rice bowls. The set meal is priced at 900 yen. On this day, they had cheese chicken cutlet and hamburger. You order from a ticket machine before entering. The main dishes come with cabbage, macaroni, rice, and miso soup. The portion size is generous, and you can even specify the amount of rice you want when ordering. The restaurant has a friendly and approachable atmosphere, with quick service and a constant flow of customers coming in and out. The dishes served are generously covered in sauce and look appetizing. The cutlet is crispy, with a flavorful cheese topping adding depth to the chicken. The demi-glace sauce on the hamburger is also delicious. The meat is finely ground and tender, easily coming apart with chopsticks. It's convenient to have this kind of place in such a convenient location, especially with the all-day service and evening set meals. It's really nice to have a restaurant like this around.

Today's lunch was the Oka Saguriru daily bowl (¥650) with shrimp fry and pork cutlet simmered in egg. The soft-boiled eggs mixed nicely together, creating a perfect balance. You can choose the amount of rice you want, which is great. It's a good place for a quick and satisfying meal. Thank you for the meal! p(^_^)q

Volga 1,150 yen (large) - An omurice dish topped with tonkatsu. The ketchup rice base is not good, too wet and sticky. The salad has too much water, making it soggy. The tonkatsu is tough and the demi-glace sauce lacks flavor. Despite being praised, other menu items may be better.

The targeted restaurant was temporarily closed! I managed to find it and entered. I had the set meal for ¥1200. There is a ticket machine at the entrance, and the inside of the restaurant is a bit messy. It has a counter in the shape of a "C" and a counter facing the wall. The menu includes hamburger, tonkatsu, and shrimp fry. Hmm, maybe the salad dressing was the most delicious? Haha!

~Previous Post~ [November 17, 2022 19:16] Dining alone... No convenience store bento for the second day in a row, so let's go out! Not to a restaurant district, but to Shin-Umeda Food Street~☆ It's like a Showa-era food court. (It still has "Shin" in the name...^^;) It's 7:00 PM. I stroll around and notice that the different restaurants have varying levels of crowding. I spot a Western-style restaurant with appetizing samples of cutlets, hamburgers, and more. I decide to get both the daily specials! I go inside. I use the ticket machine at the entrance to place my order. Inside, there is a counter in the shape of a "C" and a row of counter seats along the wall near the entrance. I sit closer to the kitchen. About half of the seats are occupied by older gentlemen. After about 5 minutes, my food arrives, and itadakimasu! (I chose the large size for the rice... couldn't resist...^^;) First, miso soup... delicious with a strong dashi flavor~☆ It had onions, wakame seaweed, and green onions. I pour the Japanese-style sauce over the cutlets and top it with grated daikon radish, refreshing and tasty~☆ The rice goes down easily. The hamburger... made of beef? The table sauce didn't quite match, so I added a little soy sauce from the table. It was simply delicious. I finish everything, feeling full and satisfied. Thank you for the meal~(^^)/ When I left, the place was packed. All older gentlemen... by chance?...^^; It was a popular spot. ==========
