"Hakodate Hotel Banso" used to have a traditional hot spring ryokan image, but it has been renovated into a modern, stylish look. I took advantage of the GoTo campaign and stayed there for one night in Hakodate. This time, I booked a package with two meals included. I love buffet meals, so I was looking forward to breakfast and dinner. The buffet venue, Kura Matsuri, had a bright and open atmosphere, and the staff were all friendly and efficient. The buffet menu included sushi, steak, snow crab, assorted sashimi, tempura, seafood grill, beef stew, Chinese and creative dishes, pizza, pasta, and more. They even had my favorite Karl Raymon sausages and the famous Hanabatake Farm Raclette cheese, so the variety was quite impressive. The desserts included cakes, ice cream, and even Yubari melon, making it a luxurious lineup. Everything was delicious, and I couldn't stop eating! For breakfast, there were traditional dishes, a make-your-own seafood bowl, Hakodate's famous salt ramen, morning curry, and more, leaving me super full in the morning. The bath was limited due to the current situation, so the sauna was not available, but the open-air bath with natural spring water was refreshing, and the lounge after the bath was relaxing. Despite the limited services due to COVID-19, I would love to visit this inn again when things calm down. Thank you for the hospitality!"
