Very popular! Fukuoka's soul food Okonomiyaki - Hakata Fukiyama! Yamadera (^ ^ ♪ This day, I went on an expedition to Fukuoka Hakata. Coming out of the west exit of Hakata Station, there is a building called Hakata Bus Terminal on the north side. I went to the very popular okonomiyaki restaurant "Fukiyama" on the 8th floor of that building. The atmosphere and detailed information of the restaurant are also uploaded on YouTube, so I would be happy if you could refer to it. When I visited the restaurant, I had to wait for about 3 groups around 14:30, but I was able to enter in about 5 minutes, just as I finished eating! On the large teppan grill at the counter, okonomiyaki is being cooked one after another. Yamadera decided to eat at a table in the back. Before eating okonomiyaki, I ate Yakimeshi (fried rice) for 650 yen - even though it was a regular size, it was quite large! I wonder what would happen if I ordered the large size for 750 yen while imagining. The finely chopped onions and various other ingredients were plentifully cooked on the large teppan, making the Yakimeshi very fluffy and delicious. The Okonomiyaki with meat and egg for 800 yen has arrived! By the way, you can also order a larger size at no extra charge, but even the regular size is quite voluminous (laughs). I'll have it with beer - generously drizzle the thick sauce and special mayonnaise. The surface of the quite thick okonomiyaki is crispy, and the inside is sticky, giving a satisfying feeling in the stomach (^ ^ ♪ It's a bit different from the okonomiyaki you eat in Osaka, and it's quite filling. If I were a student, I would want to order the larger size, but the regular size is more than enough. The thick sauce was also very delicious, and the mayonnaise with a mild acidity was excellent. I went to Fukiya in Hakata the other day, after visiting the one in Yoshizuka within a week. I ordered the special Nikudama for 800 yen. Compared to Yoshizuka, the crust was thicker and more satisfying to eat, and the sauce was thicker too. You can add as much sauce and mayonnaise as you want, but the original flavor is strong enough to enjoy without them. Perhaps due to the rich flavor, the man next to me had already finished two beers.

I arrived at the restaurant at 7 pm on a holiday, wrote my name on the waiting list paper, and waited. From the conversations around me, it seemed like there were many travelers from Korea and Taiwan. After waiting for 10 minutes, my name was called and I placed my order. I ordered the large meatball for 800 yen as usual. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I was seated at the counter inside the restaurant. Finally, after waiting for 20 minutes, the meatball was brought to me. I topped it with plenty of sauce and enjoyed eating it from the edge. This is my moment of bliss. Even if the price goes up, there is nothing that can replace it, and I still want to eat Fukuya's okonomiyaki.

I have been going there since the days when one piece was less than 500 yen, and now a single squid ball costs 800 yen. The prices of flour and eggs have also gone up, so it can't be helped. In the past, even a large piece sometimes felt unsatisfying, but now I feel full with just one piece. However, the sauce and mayonnaise have been affected by recent trends, and are now in dispensers, which makes me a little sad because it has become thinner. I can no longer experience that thick, gooey texture.

Third visit. We had to wait for about an hour because we wanted a table since we were with children. The people at the counter were called in a little faster. I ordered the pork (750 yen). The great service of being able to upsize to a special or large size for free is wonderful! Of course, I chose the special size (laughs). The rich sauce was delicious, and whenever I come to Hakata Station, I feel like eating it. The restaurant is not very spacious, but we were able to somehow leave the stroller. It might be tough depending on the seat.

Mix, 1000 yen. The taste is average. People with a discerning palate in Osaka or Hiroshima may want to avoid it. There is always a line, but today I have some extra time so I decided to wait in line. They take your order while you are waiting in line, probably to increase turnover.

Free size upgrade! It's an amazing service. I ordered the deluxe and it had plenty of ingredients, very satisfying. The sauce is rich and delicious. However, they must be pressing it firmly when grilling, so it's tough. Also, it's a bit powdery. It may not be suitable for people from Kansai, but sometimes you just crave it. There's always a long line, so while waiting, I satisfied my hunger and quenched my thirst at Basokiya. (laughs)

It is said to be one of the soul foods in Hakata, and I went there for the first time! It was Saturday, so it might have been crowded, but we had to write our names on a waiting list and were called after 20 minutes. We placed our order first, and I ordered the meat and egg okonomiyaki! It took about 50 minutes until we were called into the restaurant, and then we had to wait another 15 minutes for the okonomiyaki to arrive. It was well-cooked, crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, topped with creamy mayonnaise. The taste and texture were addictive, and it was delicious and filling, but waiting in line for so long was tough. The staff in the restaurant seemed really busy.

Visited on a Friday night! The line was crazy long! I wrote my name on the waiting list but there were over 20 people ahead of me! Finally got inside after waiting for an hour! Ordered the deluxe with cheese topping, and yakisoba! They weren't serving fried rice at the moment! They had sauce and mayonnaise on the table! The okonomiyaki was quite large with a lot of ingredients like squid, shrimp, pork, etc.! The cheese melted perfectly and it was super delicious! The outer part of the batter was crispy while the inside was fluffy, and the melted cheese was irresistible! The yakisoba had thick noodles and a rich flavor, perfect for hearty eating! It tasted great with the rich sauce! The okonomiyaki is quite large, so ordering two dishes might make you quite full! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

On a holiday at 11:10 am, I went to the restaurant with a companion. There were already about 30 people waiting. We wrote our names on the waiting list and stood in front of the restaurant. After waiting for 50 minutes, our names were called. I usually order the meat and egg okonomiyaki, but my companion suggested the mixed (large) one with shrimp and squid for 1000 yen, and also ordered yakisoba for 650 yen. Normally, I only eat okonomiyaki, so I was happy to be able to eat noodles when I'm with my companion. We were seated at the counter, and it took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. After a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting, the mixed okonomiyaki finally arrived. I added plenty of sauce and took a bite. It was delicious as always. Then the yakisoba was being cooked, and it was brought to us in about 2 minutes. The yakisoba was a bit bland, so we added okonomiyaki sauce and it was good. We were worried if we could finish it, but we managed to eat it all easily. It was a long wait at Fukiya, but we enjoyed delicious okonomiyaki and yakisoba.

I went around 1 pm and was able to eat around 2 pm. This time, I ordered the Deluxe. The taste was lighter than it looked, and it felt a bit lacking without mayonnaise. However, the portion size was decent, so it was satisfying to eat. Next time, I want to go earlier.

Every time I go back home, I always go to Fukiya. This time was no exception. Okonomiyaki Mix... 1000 yen Yakisoba... 750 yen? Bottled beer... 600 yen? x2 Come to think of it, it was my first time drinking at Fukiya, but I enjoyed it enough to not regret my past self.

I have been eating at Fukiya for over 30 years. They have many branch restaurants. Their homemade sauce and mayonnaise are addictive, sometimes causing withdrawal symptoms. Recently, there have been many tourists, making the restaurant very busy, but the staff's thoughtful consideration remains the same. When the number of customers is low, you can enjoy the original Fukiya okonomiyaki, which is carefully cooked over time (the one cooked by the deceased head chef was exceptional). Their yakisoba and fried rice are also recommended. Especially, the onion in the fried rice is exquisite. I think food preferences vary between individuals, with some finding it delicious and others not.

It's been a while since my last visit. The restaurant is still crowded as usual. Maybe they have limited seating due to the impact of COVID-19? Or is it just limited to the counter seats? But the taste is so good that I sometimes crave it even if I have to wait in line for a bit. It seemed like the staff was understaffed and the restaurant was quite busy. I always order the Deluxe here. It's cheap and delicious.

I visited a restaurant that I had been curious about because there was always a line. The okonomiyaki was too heavy and dense for me, as someone from Kansai, and the sauce was too strong for my liking. However, the yakisoba was relatively light and the noodles were delicious.

The other day, when I went back to my hometown, I went to Fukiya. I went a little after the store opened on Sunday, but it took about an hour to get my food - it's really popular. When I was in junior high and high school, I used to eat cheap vegetable yakisoba near Nishishin or Shoppers, but now that I'm an adult, I ordered the large meatball. It was still as big as ever, and with mayo, I was completely satisfied. Fukiya is Fukiya, so it's not about whether it's delicious or not, I think. If I feel like eating it again, I'll come back♪

My partner, who is from Kitakyushu, has other favorite okonomiyaki places, but as a Hokkaido native, I wanted to explore this niche area. We waited in line for about 20 minutes during lunchtime and were seated. I had requested a mixed okonomiyaki in advance, so we just relaxed at our table. Our fluffy and delicious okonomiyaki arrived fairly quickly, but I wish they wouldn't automatically make the size smaller for women. The surface was slightly crispy, and the inside was full of ingredients, like a fluffy cushion. The sauce and mayonnaise now come in a tube with a narrow nozzle, a change from the brush-on type they used to have. My partner ate in complete silence, making it impossible to tell if he thought it was delicious or just okay. As for me, I was melting with delight, thinking "hot, hot, delicious, delicious." The lively and bustling atmosphere made it easy for even a solo diner to feel welcome. It had been a while since I dined out, and I felt happy and satisfied after eating. The menu is extensive, and I would like to try their yakisoba next time. I want to come back alone and challenge myself to finish a super-sized okonomiyaki! Merry Christmas, okonomiyaki! Located on the 8th floor of a building adjacent to JR Hakata Station bus terminal. Visited for the first time on a holiday afternoon. A slightly spacious restaurant with a counter and tables, bustling with customers. Sat right in front of the grill where the manager cooks. They make Kansai-style okonomiyaki by mixing dough and cabbage and then grilling it. It's quite large. Orders keep coming in, and they're cooking 14 at once! I ordered the pork okonomiyaki for 750 yen and asked for a smaller size. It was ready in about 20 minutes. The pork was crispy on the outside, the dough was chewy, and the cabbage was crunchy. It was a very delicious okonomiyaki where the dough stood out as the star of the dish.

Fukuya-san, a restaurant I had always wanted to visit but never quite made it to. My late grandmother used to run a cafeteria, serving udon, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba, which were popular dishes in the countryside. I started helping out at the restaurant from the second grade, especially in the task of cooking okonomiyaki in front of the customers. Due to this experience, I have high standards for okonomiyaki and have trouble finding a place that meets my expectations. I finally mustered up the courage to visit with my wife and daughter. After a 30-minute wait, we were seated in the crowded restaurant. I ordered a large mixed okonomiyaki, my wife ordered a meatball and cheese okonomiyaki, and my daughter ordered a limited edition shiso and cheese okonomiyaki, along with yakisoba and ginger ale. The wait for the food was quite long, but that's expected for okonomiyaki. The yakisoba was served first, and it had a strong sour taste from the sauce. The burnt smell and taste were also noticeable, even though it didn't seem to be intentionally burnt. Perhaps they didn't clean the leftover scraps properly, leading to the burnt taste. The squid in the yakisoba had a strong smell and was unpleasant. Next, the okonomiyaki was served, and we were excited to try it. The sauce was spread on the surface, and the texture was crispy while still being flavorful. However, after a few bites, it felt heavy. The texture was similar to a dense dough, making it quite heavy. The okonomiyaki in Fukuoka tends to have more dough, so it needs to be mixed less to achieve a fluffy texture. The dish was filling, and I had to eat quickly to finish it. Fukuoka's soul food was a bit challenging for me to enjoy.
