Hello, it's Macha with another recommended meal! This is a blog about gourmet food in Osaka and Kyoto! Thank you for your support today!
Horse meat specialty store "Bakou" in Kitashinchi, a 3-minute walk from the station! It's on the 3rd floor of a building, so be careful not to miss it! As you go up the stairs, you'll find a cozy counter with a calm atmosphere! The restaurant opened last year, so it's clean! (No photos, sorry)
This time, I visited with three former colleagues and tried the Sakura Harihari Nabe course (6000 yen). Since it was cold, we opted for the Harihari Nabe course with horse meat, which was a healthy and satisfying meal! Enjoy!
Appetizer
The appetizer was a salad with plenty of vegetables! Healthy!
Sashimi Platter (photo shows 3 servings)
The horse sashimi platter includes medium fatty tuna, marbled meat, lean meat, and mane. Eating the lean meat and marbled meat together brings out the refreshing umami of the lean meat and the rich sweetness of the fat at the same time! Delicious! The medium fatty tuna and marbled meat also have a great amount of fat and are delicious! It's all about horse meat, after all! Harihari Nabe Upgrade The regular Harihari Nabe comes with horse meat, but for an additional fee (around 3000 yen, I think), we upgraded to a mix of horse meat and fatty tuna! Both are fresh and delicious! We enjoyed the Harihari Nabe while occasionally eating sashimi! Dip the horse meat lightly in the broth, wrap it in greens, and enjoy! The thinly sliced meat is full of umami! The crunchy greens contrast beautifully with the meat! The yuzu pepper is a nice touch!
Finale Upgrade
The regular finale is either zosui (rice soup) or soba, but for an additional fee (I forgot how much), we upgraded! Here we have the famous horse sashimi Yukke on rice with egg! I saw this on Instagram and just had to try it! Mix the egg carefully with the rice, then add the horse sashimi Yukke on top! The sesame oil and soy sauce-based sweet dashi enhance the egg on rice even more! I want to eat this in a bowl!
We also tried various a la carte dishes in addition to the course this time! We went all out!
Premium Liver Sashimi (1800 yen)
Liver sashimi, which is hard to come by nowadays, is still available with horse meat! It's initially chewy but then melts in your mouth!
Fatty Tuna Sushi (3 pieces for 1500 yen)
The fatty tuna with horse meat is cut a bit thick! It melts in your mouth!
Raw Hamburger (1400 yen)
The raw hamburger is made smaller for one person! I'm sorry for being so picky... The surface is quickly seared, and the inside is rare! The sweetness of the meat is evident and it's amazing! Perfect for horse lovers!
Horse meat galore! It was so delicious! Check out my Tabelog reviewer page, blog, old blog, and Facebook page for more reviews and recommendations!
