*Fukuoka has accumulated photos from when I lived there or traveled there, so I will continue to post them. [Day 1: Lunch] In January 2018, I was able to take a long vacation, so I went to Fukuoka. For lunch on the first day, I went to "Bochibochi," a okonomiyaki restaurant where I used to frequent when I lived in Fukuoka. It may seem unusual to introduce a restaurant right away, but first, I wanted to visit my old favorite spot. The restaurant is located near JR Chojahara Station in Kasuya-cho, along Route 607, on the first floor of a building with the name of the restaurant and a griddle painted on the wooden wall as a sign. The interior is clean and cozy, with a calm atmosphere. There are counter seats in front of the griddle, as well as tatami and table seats with griddles, accommodating everyone from solo diners to families. The food is prepared by the staff and served hot on the griddle. The master is from Osaka, and together with his wife, they serve Osaka-style okonomiyaki in this area. Both of them are friendly and cheerful, so I always enjoy chatting with them, and having lived nearby, I often stopped by and lingered for a while. For lunch, the main dish is okonomiyaki, which is fluffy and soft with yam, and the sauce, which is the key flavor, is a thick, rich type. Although not very large, the portion is sufficient, and it is a reassuringly delicious meal. In the evening, there are not many items on the menu, but they serve dishes that go well with alcohol using the griddle. In particular, the "salt-grilled chicken," "omelette," and "maruchiku" are highly recommended as they are not only delicious but also enjoyable to watch being cooked on the griddle. The photos are from before, which may not convey the essence well, but it is a great restaurant where you can enjoy the essence of the griddle.
