On a Saturday afternoon, while waiting in a 50-minute line to enter the restaurant, I watched a demonstration of mochi pounding right in front of me! The freshly pounded mochi with red bean paste was delicious. Even people who don't like red beans (and prefer smooth bean paste) were happily eating it. The mango shaved ice was elegant and tasty. I was happy to receive a complimentary hot red bean tea.

An exhausted old man taking a break in Umeda city. The sweetness is subtle. Refreshing. The red bean paste is reliably delicious. The portion size is just right. I enjoyed the elegant shaved ice. Thank you for the meal. #Taneya #Taneya Teahouse #ShavedIce Matcha #ShavedIce

Let's have some shaved ice♪ I went to the tea shop next to Taneya, located on the first floor of Hankyu Department Store. I arrived before lunchtime and was able to enter without waiting. I sat at a table and was served red bean tea in an iron teapot. It was delicious. I ordered the black sugar shaved ice. Before the shaved ice arrived, I was given roasted soybean flour in a mortar. I ground it up myself. It was quite enjoyable even during the wait. The shaved ice came with red bean paste and three small rice cakes on top! The black sugar shaved ice was quite sweet (it's sugar after all). I balanced out the sweetness with the unsweetened roasted soybean flour, and it was just right. It was delicious! In a cozy atmosphere that warms the heart, I was able to relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. By the time I left, there was already a line forming!

This is Taneya Chaya located in Hankyu Department Store. I always see a long line here, but this time I arrived early and got in before the line formed. It was a hot day, so I chose the matcha shaved ice without hesitation. The matcha flavor was very rich, and the freshly made chewy white balls still had a hint of warmth. The taste of the sweet red bean paste was also delicious.

In the basement of Hankyu Umeda Main Store in 2023, there is a café called "Taneya" where you can try their Matcha Shaved Ice for 1,100 yen. The matcha flavor is rich, and the ice is fluffy. Instead of white balls, it comes with three freshly made chewy rice cakes on top. Definitely worth a visit! ✨✨

The matcha flavor was rich with a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. The syrup was not only on the surface but also inside and underneath, which was great. The red bean paste and mochi were delicious and chewy, just like you would expect from a traditional Japanese sweets shop. I also enjoyed the roasted green tea flavor. We visited on a weekday afternoon and had to wait for about 15 minutes. The shop is located on the first basement floor of Hankyu department store, and there were people dining alone as well. The atmosphere was calm and the clientele seemed to be on the older side. It was a unique take on shaved ice!

On the middle day of the three-day weekend, as expected, there was a line. We waited for 60 minutes after 3 PM, and were seated after 4 PM. It was nice to be able to come back at the designated time and not have to wait. My daughter was impressed, saying, "It's like waiting for an attraction, and the accuracy of the wait time is great!" I had a matcha shaved ice, while my daughter had a hojicha parfait.

After work, I enjoy making a detour to the food department in the basement of the department store. Every department store has a wide space for Taneya's traditional Japanese sweets, but Hankyu Department Store has a tea room right next to it, so I often find myself taking a break there. The entrance to the traditional Japanese sweets section is closer to the Hankyu train, so it feels like a shorter walk. They serve tea instead of water here all year round. Drinking warm tea from an iron teapot is very comforting. They have seasonal menu items, but the popular classic menu item is ground rice cakes. You eat them with olive oil, but they also offer foamy soy sauce, salt, and ground sesame. I recommend the olive oil. You can taste the olive oil directly, and the slight roughness of the freshly made rice cake is delicious. The foamy soy sauce is unique, so I couldn't resist trying it. It tastes just like regular soy sauce. When you pick it up with chopsticks, it melts quickly, so you have to eat it on the rice cake right away! Recently, there have been a lot of foreign tourists flocking to the department store basement, and this shop had quite a few foreign visitors even in the evening.

After attending the regular concert of the Tsuchi Hyogo Art and Culture Center Orchestra, I stopped by a tea shop on the Hankyu train. Surprisingly, they serve complimentary mochi inside the shop. As always, "Taneya" knows how to create a great atmosphere. Sometimes, green tea is a nice change from coffee. Delicious♪♪ I ordered the Mulberry Leaf Parfait for 1,100 yen (excluding tax) and Green Tea for 500 yen. Thank you for the meal.

Next to the traditional Japanese confectionery section of Takashimaya Department Store's basement is a tea room called Taneya. It's always full. I was recommended the seasonal special, so I chose the yomogi (Japanese mugwort) mochi. The freshly made yomogi mochi sticks to the chopsticks. I eat it by mixing it with sweet red bean paste. There are 7 pieces in a serving. I like the sweetness of the red bean paste, so I mix it generously. The soft mochi is chewy and delicious. It's consistently tasty.

I wonder how many times I've been here already? Whenever I feel like taking a break and having something sweet, I always think of Taneya Tea House at Hankyu Umeda Main Store B1F. Inside the sweet shop of Taneya, there is a counter in the front and table counters in the back. If you're lucky, you can see them pounding mochi there. Even though I've been here so many times, I've never seen it once. The mochi here is actually made on-site. This time, I had the seasonal parfait - Strawberry Parfait for 1,320 yen. The strawberries and strawberry compote were vibrant, and the milk-flavored soft serve was rich. The mochi was freshly pounded and had a slightly rough texture, which was delicious. The balance of red bean paste, agar jelly, and condensed milk sauce was good, although the sauce made it overly sweet in my opinion. The complimentary azuki tea from the shop was served in a Nanbu iron kettle, and it was soft, fragrant, and delicious. I love it so much that I even buy their tea leaves to take home. In the summer, you can enjoy shaved ice and cold sweets, while in the winter, you can have warm treats like zenzai. It's a place you can enjoy all year round. I hope to see the mochi pounding next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

For lunch, I had freshly pounded mochi at Taneya. The seasonal yomogi mochi was generously topped with sweet red bean paste, creating a delightful flavor. The fragrance of mugwort was irresistible. I am full and satisfied. It was fun to watch the mochi pounding performance. It's convenient to stop by while shopping.

Delicious. When you feel like experiencing the seasons through sweets, this is the place to go. - Comforting taste. - The clientele consists mainly of adult women, either alone or in pairs. - You may have to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, but considering the location in Umeda, it's relatively quick. - They perform mochi pounding right in front of you, which is quite delightful. - The staff is incredibly considerate. - With any menu item, you get served with red bean tea. I often purchase it to take home and drink, but it's just okay. When you drink it in the store, it's really delicious. I wonder how they make it taste so good at home. It's a mystery.

This is a review of the coffee shop located inside Hankyu Umeda Department Store. Sometimes I stop by to have their shiruko after shopping. I visited before 2 pm on a weekday. There was no wait, but the place was almost full. The menu changes slightly depending on the season, but there are no disappointments! The black sesame shiruko had an amazing aroma as soon as it arrived. I was very satisfied. Located in B1 of Hankyu Umeda Department Store. *Almost all cashless payments are accepted.

There is a quiet and relaxing entrance tucked away at the back of the Taneya shop on the basement floor of Hankyu Department Store. I ordered the seasonal limited edition strawberry parfait. It was so sweet that I didn't even need the condensed milk that came with it. But because it's such a calm and peaceful space, I am very satisfied. I would like to visit again.

I visited on a regular night. The place was about half full, but I was seated right away. - Mochi with red bean paste: 770 yen including tax I felt like eating freshly made mochi. It didn't have the freshly made feel, but the mochi was chewy and delicious. The red bean paste was not too sweet and tasty, but it was a bit cold so it would have been nice if it was warmed up to go with the mochi. The restaurant is located inside Hankyu Umeda, facing the underground passage of Hankyu San Plaza, so while eating, a huge number of people walked by and it was not very relaxing. I wished there was something to block the view so I could enjoy my tea slowly.

At Umeda, we had motsunabe and horse sashimi. The beer and sake were delicious. We also played UFO catchers and took purikura photos, and then finished with some sweets because I have a sweet tooth. We visited Taneya, a famous dessert shop in Umeda Hankyu, with a 30-minute wait. We ordered the chestnut parfait and chestnut mochi, which were amazing. The combination of agar jelly, chestnut, soft serve ice cream, Hokkaido red beans, and chestnut paste was heavenly. Even the red bean tea served in an iron teapot was delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the great food!

I chose the chestnut parfait. It had soft serve ice cream, sweet red bean paste, chestnuts, mochi, and agar jelly. I have a sweet tooth, but the sweetness was a bit mild, maybe because I have a stuffy nose. I felt like it was a bit lacking in flavor. The price was a bit high at 1400 yen. The mochi was sweeter than the red bean paste, so it might be better to come here when you just want to enjoy mochi. The red bean paste and mochi were delicious!

A cozy Tea time at a dessert shop operated by the famous Japanese confectionery store, Taneya. Chestnut Parfait (1,430 yen) includes chestnut paste, vanilla soft serve, agar jelly, pounded rice cake, and sweet red bean paste. Instead of shiratama (white rice flour dumplings), this parfait comes with rice cakes inside. The smooth red bean paste and chestnut combination is perfect. If you're lucky, you can watch them make mochi (rice cakes) right in front of you. A bonus point is the hot red bean tea served in a Nanbu ironware pot. It's always nice to have traditional Japanese sweets during New Year's. Note: The chestnut parfait for this season will be available until the end of January.

Anmitsu is delicious today as well♪ (Song: Onyanko Club) After enjoying plenty of Japanese sake with my American friend and an old man, we relaxed with Japanese tea! Maybe it's because it's Sunday, but the popular tea with sweet black beans had a long line. Anmitsu for 980 yen♪ It's been years since I had anmitsu, with sweet black syrup poured over a large agar jelly with fruits and sweet red bean paste, it's so good!(^^)! Matcha set for 1000 yen♪ This was ordered by the old man, who exclaimed, "The red bean paste is too sweet!" We three friends get along so well, even over sweet treats♪ (^^♪
