Actually, this is my second visit. Last time, I was also struggling to decide where to eat kushikatsu and ended up being drawn in. It feels like déjà vu to be in the same situation again this time. This time, I sat at the counter and watched the staff constantly frying kushikatsu in front of me. It's hard work. There's nothing particularly outstanding about this place, but they offer all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink options, so you can enjoy kushikatsu casually. I personally like the atmosphere here. The first time I came, I was surprised by the car inside the restaurant. Come to think of it...

I made a reservation and went there. The location is on the main street, so it's easy to find. The staff were friendly, and there was someone standing at the entrance. Even though I had reserved a table, they seated us at empty seats on the bus. The foreign staff member's explanation of the skewers was a bit hard to understand, so it would be nice if they could be more clear! We didn't opt for all-you-can-eat, and we had one adult man and woman each, one elementary school child who eats a lot, and one who eats normally. We were satisfied with the amount of food, and we only ordered skewers which came to around 7500 yen. The fish skewers were particularly good. I think the beef skewers were 110 yen each, and they were the most popular as we ended up eating 5 of them. We enjoyed a quick meal on a Saturday night, finishing in about an hour. The staff were lively, and there was one person who was really flashy which surprised me! The kushikatsu was crispy, and I couldn't miss the shrimp and pickled ginger, they were so delicious! Shrimp is a classic, but pickled ginger is not something you see often unless you go to a new world! I ended up drinking several beers!

The deciding factor for this restaurant was that the highball was on sale for only 100 yen. The kushikatsu was just right, with a good balance of batter thickness, and the service was fast. However, there were a few items missing from our order, so it's important to double-check your order. When we informed them of the missing items, they quickly brought them out without an apology. 4th gourmet tour stop! Guess what? My friend used to work at this restaurant! And guess what else? The friend who organized this tour actually owns a kushikatsu restaurant in Yamatoyagi, Nara! So, they really know their stuff when it comes to food. I wasn't familiar with kushikatsu before, but I tried the beef skewers, avocado tartare, and mentaiko. They were all delicious, with a nice crispy coating and easy to eat. Thank you for the meal!

I made a reservation in advance and visited on Saturday afternoon. It was quite crowded, but it seems like you could also get in without a reservation. I ordered a mixed set of kushikatsu at the counter seat, and then added several individual items. Personally, I found the vegetables and fish like asparagus, quail, and sardines to be delicious. We were just about to leave so we didn't order, but they had a highball time sale for 100 yen starting from 13:30.

All-you-can-eat and drink for less than 4,000 yen. Amazing cost performance. My brother ended up not drinking much, but the staff, who was like an uncle, kindly gave us a little discount. We decided to go for the all-you-can-eat course with 20 selected skewers and a 90-minute all-you-can-drink option. I had about 20 skewers and drank 6 glasses of draft beer. The cost performance was great and the restaurant opens early, making it a good choice for those who want to drink in the morning. I was satisfied with the full stomach and plenty of beer.

Situation: Second bar, bar hopping, enjoying a stroll in Shinsaibashi with a beer lover who only drinks during the day is fun. Recommended menu: "Oyaji no Kushiya" skewers and beef skewers are cheap at 110 yen each! These were even tastier ✨ There is an all-you-can-eat option (2,739 yen~) but I think it's better to go with a la carte for the skewers. You can only choose from 20 items, so it might be better to order a la carte at your own pace! In terms of cost performance, even the shiitake mushrooms are served individually, so I thought this option was more solid! Fun fact: If you get along with the catchy waiter, you might receive a service coupon haha. Alcohol situation: "Oyaji no Kushiya" offers draft beer (540 yen) and chu-hai (548 yen) which are also cheap! The all-you-can-drink option (90 minutes: 2,189 yen) includes beer as well! But since the individual prices are cheap, it depends on how much you plan to drink. Last order is 20 minutes before closing, so it's practically a 70-minute all-you-can-drink! At night, I went to my favorite restaurant, "Shinsekai Oyaji no Kushiyaki Shinsekai Honten." The kushikatsu here is voluminous and they offer a variety of delicious dishes. It's a fantastic izakaya. The old man's skewers in Osaka's Shinsekai area are bustling on weekends and evenings. There are many skewer shops, all of them doing well and crowded. This shop is no exception, it seems to be quite popular. Ordered a large amount of skewers! Each one has a generous amount of ingredients and is satisfying to eat. When you eat skewers, you really feel like you're in Osaka.

There was a waiting line during dinner time, but we were seated quickly. We ordered about 15 skewers of kushikatsu and deep-fried garlic. The deep-fried garlic was unexpectedly two whole cloves fried to a crisp! It was a bit difficult to peel the skin, but the juicy garlic inside was delicious and great value for money. The batter on the kushikatsu was slightly thicker and more fluffy compared to the second place, Ittoku. It had a sweet and savory flavor typical of the authentic style. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service throughout. It was a unique experience to hop from one kushikatsu to another, a special way to enjoy the new world. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the Oyaji no Kushiyasan in Shinsekai for sightseeing. I was wandering around wondering which kushikatsu place to go to, and happened to find this one that looked good, so I decided to go in! Kushikatsu and beer for lunch are the best! The quirky staff and the Volkswagen bus inside the restaurant make a strong impression. Definitely recommended!

In mid-March, we went on a trip to Osaka and enjoyed a leisurely lunch before checking into our hotel and heading to Tsutenkaku. The area around Shinsekai was crowded with people after the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted! The wait to go up Tsutenkaku was 2 hours long. So, we decided to stroll around the streets and shops in Shinsekai. There were a lot of middle-aged men drinking since noon (laughs). Although it was a bit early, we decided to have dinner at a tempura restaurant. The restaurant we reserved was "Shinsekai Oyaji no Kushiyaki Shinsekai Honten." We ordered the all-you-can-drink option and then ordered a la carte. Since it was affordable, we kept ordering more and more! After sightseeing at Tsutenkaku, I walked through Shinsekai in search of kushiage, and came across a sign that said "Chocolate Kushi". Intrigued, I decided to go in. The interior had a unique atmosphere with a Volkswagen bus on display. The freshly fried kushiage was delicious and satisfying. And then there was the chocolate kushi! It was like a kushiage version of a chocolate gateau, allowing you to enjoy dessert in kushi form. It was a delightful experience!

While traveling in Osaka, I wanted to try kushikatsu in Shinsekai and found this restaurant. The interior had a car and a kids' lunch menu, making it enjoyable for children. It's within walking distance from Tennoji Zoo, so it's easy for families with kids to visit during the day. The kushikatsu was the type you pour sauce from a bottle on, not the type you dip in sauce. I wish I lived closer so I could go there more often.

In the early Showa period, it seems that kushikatsu was born in Shinsekai. "No double dipping in the sauce" has become such a trendy word, with strong appeal to tourists for this downtown gourmet experience. The number of kushikatsu shops crowded in the limited space of Shinsekai is unimaginable. And the popular shops have long lines from the morning. By chance, a staff member at the storefront called out, "You can sit now," and we entered. It was not even 11 am yet, but the restaurant was almost full and bustling. The name of the restaurant is "Oyaji no Kushiya," but the young staff were busy frying the skewers and operating the place efficiently. We ordered the recommended "5-piece kushikatsu assortment" for two people, along with our favorite skewers and doteyaki. The cabbage was all-you-can-eat. As expected, all the freshly fried skewers were incredibly delicious! Although I didn't compare them to other shops, the beef and shrimp were juicy and had a sweet flavor, perfectly done. The doteyaki with beef tendons in sweet and savory miso sauce was also amazing. This deliciousness is universal for all people, a common language worldwide.

There weren't many customers, so the interior of the restaurant felt dark. The food took a while to come out, which was a bit surprising. They didn't ask if we wanted more cabbage. However, the fried horse mackerel was big and not too expensive, so that was good! You should definitely order it if you go there. The regular beef and asparagus were also delicious. There was no explanation of what each skewer was, but it was fine because you could tell by looking at them.笑

I used it on the first day of my trip to Osaka. When it comes to Shinsekai, I went to an all-you-can-eat restaurant where you can eat plenty of kushikatsu and kushiage. All-you-can-eat kushikatsu and all-you-can-drink for 120 minutes for 4,829 yen. I didn't really know what was delicious or popular, so I just looked at the menu and ordered whatever caught my eye, five at a time. In the end, I ate 42 pieces~~ I ate too much lol. They were all delicious, but the pickled ginger was irresistibly delicious.

There were a lot of customers, so I decided to go in. The lively atmosphere inside the restaurant is great. The kushikatsu is big and delicious. They also have a 90-minute all-you-can-eat and drink option, which made me think "I should have gone with that." Other menu items are also generous in portion size and cost-effective. I would be happy to come back to this izakaya again.
