Gi-shi Fishing Port - "Chukyumar" - Winter Oyster Hut in Itoshima - Winter delicacy, oysters! When it comes to oysters in Fukuoka, it's Itoshima Peninsula. The winter specialty of Itoshima Peninsula is oysters. This time, we headed to the fishing port with the most oyster huts out of the six ports. "Gi-shi Fishing Port" Itoshima Peninsula, located in the western part of Fukuoka City, faces the Genkai Sea and is known for oyster farming in its bays. Among the various fishing ports scattered throughout the Itoshima Peninsula, "Gi-shi Fishing Port" has the largest number of oyster huts. Using the highway, we arrived in about 1.5 hours from our place! Vinyl houses are set up at the fishing port, serving as oyster huts where you can eat oysters on the spot. The oyster huts are lined up, making it difficult to choose which one to enter (laughs). There are 9 oyster huts at Gi-shi Fishing Port. However, all fishing ports are affiliated with the Itoshima Fishing Cooperative, so the prices of oysters are uniform. Therefore, the choice of which one to visit depends on the originality of the options offered by each oyster hut. Some shops handle special seafood, prepare teppanyaki dishes, provide various condiments, lend hangers, jackets, and aprons for free, so choosing a shop that suits your preferences is a good idea! On weekends, all shops are open, but on this day, Friday, four shops were closed... Although I want to try them all, this time I chose this one because I wanted to eat something specific. "Chukyumar" Full of spirit, arrived at the oyster hut right at the opening time of 10 am (laughs) First in line~♪♪ This oyster hut is open only in winter, mainly serving oysters. The inside of the house is set up for barbecue style, where you grill and eat by yourself. The menu. And the reason I chose this place is this! Chukyumar's original menu "Kaki Meshi Cha-han" The shop lends out "gloves and oyster spatula" for free, and an additional 300 yen is required for charcoal (or gas) fee, but you can bring your own drinks and food, except for what you grill on the net, so you can enjoy it in various ways. Of course, since this place is known for oysters (seafood), grilling meat is not allowed. The winter house is initially cold without heating, but it warms up quickly with the charcoal power! The condiments in the shop include "soy sauce, ponzu," but I brought my own items☆ (I'm so determined) Cheese, salted sauce, yuzu kosho, moromi miso, samjang (Korean miso), butter, and more. Now, today, the three of us will dig in!! "Kaki Ichimori (about 1.3 kg)" (1,000 yen) Scallops (150 yen) x 3, shrimp (200 yen) x 3, crab claws (150 yen) x 3. Cheers with "non-alcoholic beer" (300 yen) to start!! Anyway, as expected, Itoshima's oysters are huge! For 1,000 yen, there were about 18 oysters of this size. Line them up on the net, wait for a while... but, as expected, with the power of charcoal, the fire quickly starts to cook, and the oysters start popping. Bursting with a sound, and bursting with audacity (laughs) While waiting for them to cook thoroughly, another specialty of the oyster hut! "Kaki Meshi" (300 yen) This is the essence of oysters! This rich umami that only oysters can bring. It's full of finely chopped oysters. And the original. "Kaki Meshi Cha-han" (350 yen) Fried rice on a hot plate with "butter, black pepper, garlic, shichimi togarashi." The taste changes completely from the oyster rice! The richness of butter, the savory aroma of garlic, and the spicy accent of shichimi togarashi. It spreads out beautifully!! While we were enjoying that, the seafood on the net was getting ready to eat♪ Scallops! Another big size. Juicy and firm♪ Delicious!! The plump shrimp is firm, sweet, and full of flavor! The largest part of the crab, a luxurious claw. Oh... the luxury of a single bite... And the biggest main dish!! Plump oysters. Deliciousness that needs no words☆
