On the second day of my stay, I checked in at Dormy Inn Hakata Gion, a natural hot spring inn called Mikasa no Yu. Just as I was checking in, I witnessed a traditional event called Oiyama Kasa Narashi taking place right in front of me. As I entered, the front desk was on the right with two computers on the left. Next to it was a FamilyMart convenience store, which was convenient for going back and forth from the hotel. Since I was sweating from my journey, the front desk kindly offered me a cold towel. It was raining when I stepped outside, but there were umbrellas available for borrowing, which was very helpful.
The large communal bath was open from 15:00 to 10:00. My room was a double room. The dining area was called HATAGO. It was a convenient location. The communal bath for women on the second floor required a password given at check-in to enter. There were about 30 lockers in the changing room, along with 7 hair dryers. Various amenities like cotton swabs, cotton pads, combs, skincare products, and hand & face soap were provided. The bath area had two baths (hot spring and cold water), a sauna, and an outdoor rock bath. There were 8 shower stalls with POLA body soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided. The showers had good water pressure, which was very nice. There were also washing machines and dryers in the changing room, with a cost of 100 yen for 20 minutes of drying time.
My room was a double room with a separate toilet, shower room, sink, refrigerator, and tea set. The bed area was behind sliding doors. The room had a charger, but it was not compatible with iPhone 6. The hotel-provided room wear was comfortable, and many guests were seen wearing it around the hotel.
In the dining area HATAGO, I enjoyed the night soba at 21:30, which was delicious. The breakfast was also pleasant with various dishes to choose from. The hotel's location was very convenient, with a bus stop right in front for easy access to Tenjin. After checking out, I took the subway to the airport, which was only a 5-minute walk away. The only downside was having to carry heavy luggage down the stairs to get to the subway. Overall, it was a convenient and enjoyable stay at Dormy Inn Hakata Gion.
