Iran Karapute. ---------- 2023.05 ----------When I came to Hakata, this place was the most convenient. My room was on the 3rd floor this day, but it was convenient to have a bath and dining area on the 2nd floor. The good thing about the breakfast at Dormy Inn is that you can try local dishes there. Since it's Hakata, they served dishes like Mizutaki, seasonal mixed rice, mentaiko, karashi renkon, the usual Wiener, egg dishes, karaage, and ebi fry. You can make up for missed dishes. If you book through the app, you can extend your check-out time for a cheaper price. 😄

The guest stayed in a premium room. At check-in, they were relieved not to be told that. They arrived at Dormy Inn in Hakata, being a long-time member, they had booked through a dedicated website but didn't know about the differences. The two Dormy Inns have the same name, one in Hakata Gion and the other in front of Hakata Canal City, with or without the word "PREMIUM". They are quite different, even though they are just a few hundred meters apart in a straight line. They stayed in a room on the 7th to 10th floors, known as the club floor, where they could enjoy 24-hour free drinks and unlimited use of massage chairs, a luxurious space. Even though it wasn't a premium room, they were satisfied with being able to use such a luxurious floor. The yogurt drink and ice cream after a bath are the same at all Dormy Inns, but if you carefully evaluate them, the drinks are rare local brands, and the ice cream includes monaka. The welcome item in the room's refrigerator, which in their experience in Tokyo is usually fresh fruit, was lemon jelly made from Setouchi lemons in Hakata. The hot spring water in the large bath is said to be drawn from 900 meters underground, and due to the proximity to the sea, it was the saltiest among all the Dormy Inn baths they had been to, which probably has health benefits, but it stings if it gets in your eyes. Despite being in the ramen kingdom of Hakata, they skipped the night soba at Dormy Inn, and regretted not including it in their plans, opting for ramen instead.

On February 9, 2023, the morning in Fukuoka started with breakfast at Dormy Inn Hakata Gion. Dormy Inn incorporates local gourmet dishes into their breakfast, which is always enjoyable. This time, the highlight was Hakata Mizutaki, with a rich chicken broth and delicious chicken meatballs. There was also scallop cooked rice. The meal finished with fresh fruits, yogurt, orange juice, and coffee. Ah, I'm full. Thank you for the meal!

I stayed at a Hakata hotel with breakfast included for the first time in a while. I went to the restaurant in the morning and chose "Shrimp Cutlet," "Crab Cream Croquette," "Simmered Clams," "Mentaiko," "Omelette," and "Mizutaki." The menu is not extensive, but it's nice to have local specialties. Everything was delicious, but the "Mizutaki" was particularly good. It's convenient that the hotel is directly connected to a convenience store. I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity to stay in Hakata.

This is a DORMY INN, a national hotel chain located in Hakata Gion, Fukuoka City. Although it is listed as a ryokan on Tabelog, it is actually a business hotel. However, it incorporates traditional Japanese elements such as hot springs and rooms with both beds and tatami flooring. The exterior was under construction, but the interior was clean and well-maintained. As for the food, this hotel does not seem to offer dinner based on what I saw on reservation sites, only breakfast or room-only options. However, they do provide a late-night soba noodle service. This review focuses on breakfast. Breakfast is served in the Hatago restaurant on the 2nd floor between 6:30-9:30 in buffet style. This time it was included in the accommodation plan, but normally it costs 1800 yen for adults and 900 yen for children. The selection is standard for a breakfast buffet, but personally, I thought it was quite good. While the variety was not extensive, the menu was well-curated without any disappointments. For example, there was no curry or pasta commonly found in budget hotel buffets, but instead, there was a wide variety of Japanese side dishes. They had two types of mentaiko (spicy cod roe) - raw and grilled, as well as takana (pickled mustard greens) and mentaiko with sardines (although the mentaiko portion was surprisingly small in the sardine dish). What I was most pleased with was the Mizutaki (chicken hot pot). Although it was boneless meat, having authentic mizutaki and fugu skin was a delight. In addition to the dishes in my photos, there were various Japanese side dishes, grilled fish, assorted bread, salad bar, desserts (mini cakes and fruits), drink bar, and more. The flavors were average, but for a budget business hotel, I think it was on the tastier side. I had a good impression this time, so I would like to stay at DORMY INN in another city again.

This is a DORMY INN, a nationwide hotel chain located in Hakata Gion, Fukuoka City. Although listed as a ryokan on Tabelog, it is actually a business hotel. The hotel incorporates a mix of Western and Japanese elements, with hot springs and rooms featuring both beds and tatami mats. While the exterior was under construction, the interior was clean and well-maintained. As for the food, the hotel does not seem to offer dinner based on online booking sites, only breakfast or room-only options. However, they do offer a late-night soba service called "yakan soba." This review focuses solely on the yakan soba. From 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, the restaurant Hatago on the second floor serves ramen in a cafeteria-style setup, with only one type of ramen on the menu. The ramen was decent, with a light chicken broth soy sauce base that was a bit oily. The soup was made by mixing two bases: a tare and an oil-infused soup base. The flavor was similar to commercially available fresh ramen, nothing extraordinary. The seaweed topping added a nice touch with a hint of ocean flavor. The noodles were likely frozen and cooked to order, with a medium thickness and a slightly chewy texture. The portion size was generous, with toppings like menma, green onions, and seaweed, but no chashu. Overall, the ramen was simple and satisfying, reminiscent of cafeteria food, but enjoyable as a late-night snack, especially since it was complimentary.

The Dormy Inn has a great location and hot springs, so I use it in various places. Staying on the club floor includes free drinks and a massage chair. The usual night soba is a simple soy sauce ramen, but the New Year's Eve version had shrimp tempura on top and was delicious.

The breakfast buffet at Dormy Inn is very fulfilling. Regardless of where you stay, you can always find local specialties. The highlight at this "Hakata Gion Mikasa no Yu" is the Hakata Mizutaki. The chicken is well-cooked and tender, and the collagen-rich soup is slightly thick. There is also a variety of dishes like simmered vegetables. I made sure not to overeat to avoid feeling uncomfortable later on! (laughs)

I arrived in Fukuoka from Okayama at night, just before 10 o'clock. I had planned to go to the number one Hakata ramen shop right in front of me, but Mambo had better opening hours. They were serving their signature Yonaki soba, so I decided to try it instead. The taste was comforting like everywhere else, but I couldn't help but think it would be nice to have more local flavor.

In June 2021, Fukuoka to Nagasaki and Saga Tour Part 6: On the 2nd and 3rd day, after enjoying udon at Miyake Udon, we returned to our accommodation for a rest before heading to Marine Messe Fukuoka to attend a certain graduation concert. The concert ended after 9:30 pm, and since Fukuoka Prefecture was under a state of emergency due to the new coronavirus, we bought dinner and chu-hi at a convenience store in Gion and returned to Dormy Inn Hakata Gion, where we had already checked in. This time, our accommodation plan included breakfast featuring Hakata specialties, and we had made a non-refundable advance payment reservation. Upon check-in, we were charged the accommodation tax by Fukuoka City. Our room was a standard double room. Since the last time we stayed without breakfast, we were looking forward to trying it this time. The hotel offered a late-night soba service for guests from 9:30 pm to 11:00 pm, but we were too tired after eating convenience store food, taking a sauna, and fell asleep, missing the service. Breakfast was served at the restaurant Hatago on the 2nd floor from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, featuring a buffet-style "Taste Alley of Small Side Dishes". There were mainly tables for 2 and 4 people, with counter seats by the window, where you could leisurely enjoy your meal while watching the news on a large TV. We arrived at 6:30 am on Sunday, and although there were only a few guests initially, more people started coming in, creating a decent crowd. We managed to secure counter seats by the window. COVID-19 measures included wearing masks and using disposable gloves. The dishes were covered with lids or plastic wrap, condiments were individually packaged, and large dishes were protected with acrylic boards to prevent splashes. The variety and quality of the food were excellent, typical of Dormy Inn. They even made cheese omelets upon request. There were also local dishes such as chicken sukiyaki, nameko mushroom stew, mentaiko, and spicy pickled greens, which heightened the feeling of being on a trip. Since we had more food adventures planned for later, we controlled our portions. After taking a morning bath and enjoying the complimentary lactic acid drink, we checked out around 10 am. We stored our luggage in coin lockers at Hakata Station and took the subway to Kamo Station, heading to a ramen shop we had been wanting to try. (To be continued at Fukuchan Ramen Tamakuma Main Store)

JR Hakata Station is a 10-minute walk away, and Gion Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line is just a 1-minute walk away. This hotel may be a bit older compared to other Dormy Inns, but its location is excellent. The large communal bath is located on the second floor. The breakfast specialty is Mizutaki, a local dish, and of course, mentaiko (spicy cod roe) is also available. The simplicity of mentaiko might be the most pleasing. Other services are the same as other Dormy Inns. The Dormy Inn in Canal City tends to have a lot of foreign tourists (especially from a certain country that is reclaiming land in the South China Sea), so this location is quieter.

Stayed here, close to Gion Station. As a special offer, they provide night soba noodles at the restaurant from 9:30 pm to 11 pm. It's just regular soy sauce ramen, but it's free so no complaints. They serve a half-size portion, but some people were getting seconds, so it seems possible if you ask. I didn't have breakfast as I stayed without meals this time. Checked out. One of the highlights here is the natural hot spring and sauna facilities. It's also within walking distance from Hakata Station. However, there were a couple of downsides: 1. Stayed in a room on the 6th floor this time, and the Wifi signal was incredibly weak. That was a bit disappointing. 2. There's a vending machine on the accommodation floor, and I bought a beer, but it was manufactured about six months ago. Beer tastes better when it's fresh, so I hope they pay more attention to this. Maybe they expect guests to use the convenience store on the 1st floor.

When I came to Hakata (Kyushu), of course there's a natural hot spring, Kyushu cuisine for breakfast, and access to the lounge. In these times, the style has changed to choose between Japanese and Western, so being Japanese, I chose Japanese. They serve a set meal, soup, and rice in succession. There were 6 small dishes: ikura grated, tamagoyaki, kabocha korogashi, nasu okura marinated, salmon and mentaiko, pickles and umeboshi. The most Kyushu-like one is probably the mentaiko. I came here to eat Mizutaki, a famous Hakata dish. Ume shirasu meshi was a nice accent with crunchy umeboshi. I ate about 5 pieces of hatoshi because I like it. Chili con carne was full of beans. I couldn't tell what was Chinese about the Chinese fried chicken. I like zucchini so I enjoyed the vegetable stir-fry. The salad was fresh. The squid mentaiko was delicious. The half-cooked egg was fluffy and creamy. The seasoned egg was tasty. The takana was typical of Hakata. The kimpi had a nice sesame oil flavor. The carrot rapé was okay with raisins. The potato salad was good with tuna. There were many Kyushu-style small dishes. There was also fruit and yogurt. The service was as superb as always.

During my business trip to Hakata, I stayed at Dormy Inn, of course. I always argue with my workplace about changing from the designated hotels to Dormy Inn. I think it's fine because it's cheaper! But apparently, changing is quite difficult. Sorry about that, Mr./Ms. ◯◯da. It's a bit disappointing that this Dormy Inn doesn't have an open-air bath, but you can enjoy local dishes like Mizutaki, Iwashi Mentaiko, and Kurobuta Shabu for breakfast. It's a good hotel.

I have been staying at Dormy Inn in Hokkaido so much that it feels like I have conquered them all, but I stayed at the Dormy Inn in Hakata. The breakfast had a lot of Hakata menu items and I was satisfied! Mustard lotus root Water-cooked satsuki Satsuma age Black pork menchi-yaki Chanpon Mentaiko Simmered sardine Amaou strawberry pound cake Of course, I also had the night soba! When it comes to Dormy Inn, you just have to, right...? The dessert selection was quite impressive as well. Thank you for the meal!

On the second day of my stay, I checked in at Dormy Inn Hakata Gion, a natural hot spring inn called Mikasa no Yu. Just as I was checking in, I witnessed a traditional event called Oiyama Kasa Narashi taking place right in front of me. As I entered, the front desk was on the right with two computers on the left. Next to it was a FamilyMart convenience store, which was convenient for going back and forth from the hotel. Since I was sweating from my journey, the front desk kindly offered me a cold towel. It was raining when I stepped outside, but there were umbrellas available for borrowing, which was very helpful. The large communal bath was open from 15:00 to 10:00. My room was a double room. The dining area was called HATAGO. It was a convenient location. The communal bath for women on the second floor required a password given at check-in to enter. There were about 30 lockers in the changing room, along with 7 hair dryers. Various amenities like cotton swabs, cotton pads, combs, skincare products, and hand & face soap were provided. The bath area had two baths (hot spring and cold water), a sauna, and an outdoor rock bath. There were 8 shower stalls with POLA body soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided. The showers had good water pressure, which was very nice. There were also washing machines and dryers in the changing room, with a cost of 100 yen for 20 minutes of drying time. My room was a double room with a separate toilet, shower room, sink, refrigerator, and tea set. The bed area was behind sliding doors. The room had a charger, but it was not compatible with iPhone 6. The hotel-provided room wear was comfortable, and many guests were seen wearing it around the hotel. In the dining area HATAGO, I enjoyed the night soba at 21:30, which was delicious. The breakfast was also pleasant with various dishes to choose from. The hotel's location was very convenient, with a bus stop right in front for easy access to Tenjin. After checking out, I took the subway to the airport, which was only a 5-minute walk away. The only downside was having to carry heavy luggage down the stairs to get to the subway. Overall, it was a convenient and enjoyable stay at Dormy Inn Hakata Gion.

On this day, I stayed at the Dormy Inn in Hakata Gion!! I have used this place several times, and the breakfast buffet is really good. I especially enjoyed the unlimited mentaiko (spicy cod roe) (*´∀`) This time, I stayed without breakfast, which is something I can't imagine now. I had all-you-can-eat yakiniku at Yakiniku West alone, then went back to the hotel for yonakisoba (nighttime soba noodles). Normally, I would have skipped eating if I had been out drinking, but on this day, I returned to the hotel right away because I wanted to see the moment when the Rakuten Eagles, who have been giving strength to Tohoku since the Great East Japan Earthquake, won their first league championship. "Mashiro Tanaka closed it out. Truly the man with 22 consecutive wins!!" With such deep emotions, I enjoyed the simple yet delicious yonakisoba!! The next morning, I skipped breakfast and did 6 rounds of sauna, and I lost about 3.4 kg~ (lol) Thank you for the meal~♪
