I think the best dishes at Nonkiya Maido in Shinsekai are the Tsuchiyaki and Oden. On this day, I enjoyed ladder sake in Shinsekai. The shop is Nonkiya, a standing bar that I love. The atmosphere and detailed information about the shop are also uploaded on YouTube, so please check it out. It's been a while since I last visited, so I'm excited. When I see the Tsuchiyaki pot, I can't resist eating it. First, I start with a lemon chu-hi for 400 yen. The appetizer is Tsuchiyaki for 140 yen each. The chewy Achilles tendon with sweet miso sauce is incredibly delicious. Once you try it, you'll be hooked. Another specialty is the Oden. This Oden has ingredients like onion skin and others in addition to bonito dashi. I try the Daikon Oden for 130 yen. It's a thick slice of daikon, but the dashi has soaked through to the core, making it delicious. I also order the Okra Oden for 160 yen. The okra simmered in Oden broth is flavorful and has a nice slimy texture. It's really delicious. Now I feel like having shochu, so I order the Yakiimo Shochu for 400 yen. I also order the Grilled Anago for 420 yen. The thickly sliced grilled anago with soy-based sauce is fragrant and delicious. It goes perfectly with shochu. The pickled hakusai for 120 yen is a perfect side dish. The appetizers were so delicious that I ended up drinking too much (laughs). Thank you for the meal. Nonkiya Information: Address: 3-4-5 Ebisuhigashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture. Closed on Wednesdays and the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Business hours: 8:00-20:00.

Filled up with energy at Sake no Ana and then headed to Nonkiya. Ordered Doteyaki and Oden with onions. The Doteyaki had a firm texture with minimal simmering and less sauce stains. The onions in the Oden were soft and delicious. They have a wide variety of Oden, so I will definitely visit again. #Osaka #OsakaSightseeing #OsakaFood #OsakaIzakaya #Shinsekai #ShinsekaiSightseeing #ShinsekaiFood #ShinsekaiIzakaya #Nonkiya #Izakaya #Doteyaki #Oden

I entered the restaurant around 6:30 pm on June 26, 2023, with about two customers already there. It was a fairly hot day, but the smell of the broth enticed me to order two types of oden and one dote-ni. The lettuce and shimeji mushrooms were both soaked in the broth to cook just before serving, which was a unique style. The lettuce with curry powder was particularly delicious. I want to try making it at home.

JR Loop Line, Shin-Imamiya Station, let's go drinking with friends! Part 1: Sumo watching. Let's start the drinking party at 9 o'clock! Originally, we were planning to start at Fukumasa, but it wasn't open yet, so we decided to go with the flow and start at another place. We ordered two large Asahi beers each to keep them from getting warm, and also got some Akiresu Doteyaki. We also enjoyed various other dishes like tofu and shumai sausage, and negi nuta. It's a luxury to be able to drink from 9 in the morning, even though some places were already full and there were lines forming. Cheers to the happiness of being able to drink alcohol! Oh no...we already have four empty bottles lined up (^◇^;) We shouldn't have started drinking so fast! But both my friends and I are already getting hyped up with our bottles raised high, even though we've only just begun (laughs).

What number of time difference posts is this? My memory is starting to get fuzzy! Oh, right. It's the 4th one♪ After the horumon, we had doteyaki at Nonkiya in Naniwa-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture. It's a nostalgic place! One of the many drinking spots in Osaka! The three of us visited this place for a pre-drinks gathering a while ago. We ordered a large bottle, the famous doteyaki, and oden, all of which were delicious♪ The sweetness of the onions combined with the broth is irresistible♪ The potatoes were also good♪ The texture of the doteyaki was amazing♪ My steps are starting to feel heavy, but shall we go to the next place? Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

Located within a 2-3 minute walk from Osaka Metro Dobutsuen-mae Station, this standing bar is situated in the lively drinking alley called "Jan Jan Yokocho" near Tsutenkaku Tower. It opens early in the morning and is a popular spot known for its standing-style drinking. The menu focuses on delicious and simple dishes such as oden and Osaka's specialty "doteyaki," along with a variety of well-crafted alcoholic beverages including a wide selection of sake and beer options. Despite the exclusive atmosphere in the area, the clientele is diverse and the ambiance is lively without feeling seedy. The well-flavored oden, with its tender daikon and flavorful chikuwa, is a perfect accompaniment to drinks. The doteyaki, made by simmering pre-treated beef Achilles tendons on a hot plate, offers a delicious blend of gelatinous texture and miso flavor. Both dishes are reasonably priced, with the bill often coming in under 1000 yen. This charming spot is a must-visit for food and drink enthusiasts, offering a taste of Osaka's local cuisine in a vibrant setting.

Today's last shop in the new world is Nonkiya in Jan Jan Yokocho. I also liked this shop. I got along well with the owner. But recently, the owner seems to be working more quietly in the background. Since it wasn't as crowded as usual, I decided to stop by. A couple who came from Fukuoka sat next to me. I recommended the specialty Doden-yaki and onion oden, and ended up paying for our meal together until I paid the bill. I hope they enjoy themselves at another shop with the remaining money. This shop, like Hirano-ya, is one of the shops I used to frequent but haven't visited in a while. It feels like I know everything about the taste and the shop itself, making it a nostalgic and enjoyable experience. I'll find another opportunity to visit. Thank you for the meal. One of the pleasures of drinking near the entrance here is watching the expressions of people passing by. Tourists from overseas seem very interested in Osaka's standing bars, often peeking inside as they walk by.

When I come to Osaka, my routine is to have horumon at "Marufuku", kushikatsu at "Kikuya", and doteyaki at "Nonkiya" as I head north. Nonkiya is known for its doteyaki, and I enjoyed a delicious doteyaki with a beautiful gradation of beef sinew, perfectly cooked and tender, with miso sauce. Along with a lemon sour and onion oden, the total cost was around 1,400 yen. Even if you visit three places like I did, the total cost is around 5,000 yen, making Osaka's standing bars quite affordable. Unlike the unique service at Marufuku and Kikuya, the service here is warm and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience.

In 2023, the first shop I visited was definitely the best place for doteyaki and oden. Starting with a large bottle of beer (570 yen), of course! Asahi or Kirin... I chose Asahi! I started with a doteyaki for 130 yen, it was rich and creamy, with a chewy Achilles tendon texture that was irresistible! I sprinkled plenty of shichimi spice on it and washed it down with beer. So happy! The oden had a high-quality broth made from bonito and kelp, with onion skins for added flavor. I ordered daikon radish, thick fried tofu, tofu, and potatoes. It was a cold day, and the warmth of the oden was so comforting and delicious! Nonkiya-san is open from 8 am, which is amazing for such a delicious place! I'll definitely go back again!

A standing bar in Shinsekai where you can enjoy delicious oden and doteyaki at a reasonable price in a nostalgic atmosphere. This shop is a long-established standing bar that has been in business for over 60 years. It is a popular spot in Nishinari, often crowded throughout the day. Located in Shinsekai's Janjan Yokocho, known for its delicious oden and doteyaki offered at a reasonable price. The retro atmosphere of the Showa era attracts a wide range of regular customers, from young to old. The shop is located about 150 meters north of Janjan Yokocho Street from Naniwa Police Station Shinsekai Koban. The nearest station is Dobutsuen-mae Station, a 3-minute walk away. The shop is open from 8:00 to 20:00 (last order at 19:30), closed on weekdays from 14:30 to 16:30. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Reservations are not accepted, so you may have to wait in line to enter. The popular menu items are doteyaki, with oden (daikon, whole onion) and doteyaki being ordered. The shop seems to be particular about the dashi used in the oden, as it is made with bonito flakes, kombu, and onion skins. The dashi is light and the daikon melts in your mouth, soaked in the flavorful broth. The whole onion used also absorbs the broth well and is soft and delicious. The doteyaki is made with Achilles tendon, covered in a sticky sauce, with a chewy texture when eaten. If you visit Shinsekai, be sure to check out this shop. [Order] - Oden: Daikon 130 yen, Whole onion 240 yen - Doteyaki: 100 yen

Touring around the Tsutenkaku area for the first time in six months, I visited Nonkiya as promised. The Doteyaki here is the best, and the Oden is also top-notch. I tried some unique Oden menu items for the first time this visit. I always think that customers at good and delicious restaurants are all kind and friendly, making it easy to have a fun conversation even with strangers, and you leave feeling energized. Thank you to those who accompanied me. It was a delicious meal. Thank you!

After finishing my night shift, I found myself at Shin-Imamiya as part of my routine. Today, I decided to check out Jyan Jyan Yokocho! Around 8:10 in the morning, I found it in a state of devastation and closed. However, two places were open - a katsu udon shop and Nonkiya. I decided to visit Nonkiya to avoid getting too full after having katsu udon. The exterior of the place had a nice atmosphere and looked appetizing. Inside, there was only an L-shaped counter, with seating for about 6-7 people. The customers were mostly standing and seemed to have just woken up in the morning. The staff, an elderly male and female, were both wearing down vests. The lack of a door made it quite chilly, but I managed to stay warm. I ordered a highball, two skewers of dote yaki, and daikon and thick fried tofu oden for 960 yen. I started with the highball and then tried the dote yaki, which tasted good but was a bit tough. The daikon in the oden was a bit too firm for my liking, and I prefer it softer. The fried tofu was also firmer than I prefer. They use onion skin to adjust the broth, as I saw in a magazine article on the wall. Maybe I'll come back for a lunch drink next time. Thank you for the meal.

There is a standing bar in the Jan Jan Yokocho that opens from 8 am and serves delicious doteyaki and oden. I visited around 9 o'clock and there were already 4 customers. It's popular from the morning! I started with a large bottle of either Asahi Super Dry or Kirin Lager (570 yen). The doteyaki is 130 yen per stick, made with tender and chewy beef Achilles. It's amazing when you sprinkle some shichimi spice on it! The oden broth is prepared with bonito, kelp, and onion skins, and it's simply irresistible. The daikon radish and thick tofu are must-have items to enjoy the broth. I tried kuzukiri (160 yen) for the first time, a dish with thin fried tofu, green onions, and ginger in a generous broth. It warms you up and feels like eating hot pot. Perfect for cold days. I'm satisfied once again. It's becoming my favorite spot as the weather gets colder! Thank you for the meal!

Oden season is coming and I found a standing bar in Jangjang Alley that serves delicious oden and doteyaki starting from 8 in the morning. Let's start with a large bottle of Asahi Super Dry for 570 yen. They raised the price by 50 yen starting from October, but oh well. The doteyaki, priced at 130 yen each, is made from simmering beef Achilles tendon in white miso until it becomes tender and flavorful with a slight chewy texture. It's sprinkled generously with shichimi pepper, so delicious! We ended up eating 5 pieces between the two of us that day. The oden with daikon radish and thick fried tofu is a must. The broth made from kombu, bonito, and onion skins is high-quality and has a rich depth of flavor, making it the best oden I've ever had. The potatoes are also tender and tasty. The negima, made with green onions and tuna, is like the negima you find in yakitori. After ordering, you lightly dip it in the hot broth and enjoy it with ponzu sauce. However, I feel like using ponzu sauce takes away from the amazing broth, so I prefer to enjoy the daikon radish and thick fried tofu to fully appreciate the delicious broth. The doteyaki and oden were incredibly delicious once again! The end.

The new world is located in the bustling alley of Jan Jan Yokocho. It's a standing bar with a wide variety of oden menu items. I visited on a weekday night, and the alley was starting to get busy again. The popular kushikatsu spot, Yae Katsu, still had a line. Inside the restaurant, there are partitions on the counter for COVID-19 measures. It can only accommodate about 6-7 people. Recently, even women come to drink alone. There were also couples who seemed like tourists, and older gentlemen like myself. There is a TV inside the restaurant and a menu board full of options. I started with a large bottle of Kirin Lager for 570 yen. I also ordered a potato salad from the small dishes in the showcase. In the past, many older men used to put sauce or soy sauce on their food. I prefer soy sauce! I poured the nostalgic Mie Man soy sauce on the potato salad. It was delicious. Of course, I also had some oden. The flavors were strong, but it's just right for New World. One of the unique features of New World is how you can easily strike up a conversation with the person next to you. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Thank you for the meal.

Jyan Jyan Yokomachi is a standing bar located in the backstreets. I thought it would be a touristy place, but it turned out to be an amazing spot. They open from 8 am! A longstanding establishment of over 60 years. The counter is narrow, with a wall full of menu items. At the entrance, skewers of grilled meat are neatly lined up. The oden also looks delicious. I love these kinds of places. I ordered a sweet potato shochu and water, not specifying the type, so I'm not sure what I got. The Wasabi leaf salad came out quickly. It's delicious. I ordered 3 skewers of grilled meat for 130 yen each. You can order just one if you like. They are big and have a sweet Osaka-style miso flavor. They are so delicious, I've never had grilled meat this good. Sprinkling some shichimi spice on it adds extra flavor. The tofu and Kyoto mizuna oden are served separately on different plates. I think it was the Kyoto mizuna that I had, and I was asked if I wanted it with "ponzu" or "dashi." I chose "dashi." The tofu is topped with grated yam and served like a hot tofu dish. It's incredibly tasty. I've been into tofu in oden recently, and this is the best. The Kyoto mizuna has an incredibly flavorful broth. It's made with bonito, kombu, and onion skin, and the bonito aroma is amazing. This oden is incredibly delicious. It's truly amazing. It's always crowded, but the atmosphere and taste are worth experiencing. I want to go back and spend more time here. I was so impressed. I didn't do enough research before going and missed out on their famous "onion oden." I will definitely go back!

In the vicinity of Jyanjyan Yokocho in Naniwa-ku, Osaka City, it is fun to walk around and look at the many dining options. I satisfied my hunger with the popular doteyaki here. Nervously trying out standing bar for the first time, I sat at the counter and the man behind me recommended, "This and this and this are delicious." Feeling at ease, I tried all the recommendations. I watched the doteyaki being made right in front of me, making it look delicious. Doteyaki (available from 1 piece) and Oden (onions, daikon, egg) were served. I sprinkled shichimi on the white miso-based doteyaki. It was sweet and delicious. The onions were also topped with a different broth, making them slightly sweet and creamy. The daikon and egg were delicious as well. I don't remember the prices, but it was a good time enjoying delicious and affordable food.

Peering through the vinyl sheet, I felt like I could drink endlessly just by gazing at the doteyaki and oden. At "Nonkiya" in Jangangai Alley, if you want to enjoy doteyaki and oden with a beer, this is the place to be. It's a quaint and nostalgic standing bar with a very narrow space. The sight of doteyaki and oden being cooked so deliciously can be seen through the vinyl sheet. What I ordered was a draft beer for 480 yen, doteyaki for 130 yen per piece (the Achilles tendon part was well simmered, my favorite type with miso base), and oden - daikon and egg for 120 yen each, and negima (green onion and chicken skewers) for 160 yen. The seasoning was just right, and it was delicious. I had a funny encounter with the self-proclaimed "40 million yen annual income" old man next to me, but given the location, both the town and the people are deep and interesting. Thank you for the meal!

This is a must-visit shop in this area. Their skewered meat and oden are incredibly delicious! Let's start with a large bottle of Asahi Super Dry for 520 yen. The skewered meat is 130 yen each. The Achilles tendon part is rich and tender, topped with plenty of shichimi pepper, and goes perfectly with beer... So irresistible! The oden is also amazing! The broth is excellent, made with bonito and kelp, and even onion skins to enhance the flavor. When you eat the daikon radish, you can feel the delicate and high-quality broth spreading throughout your body. So satisfying! Is there a better oden than this place? If you know one, please let me know! That's all.
