The 900 yen yam-only okonomiyaki was fluffy and delicious, mixed with beef, shrimp, squid, and seaweed. It was popular with many customers and bustling. It's a mystery whether it's related to other similar okonomiyaki restaurants.

I went to lunch with a friend (who loves food) at a 43-year-old okonomiyaki restaurant. The place is located in Katahno 3-chome, right below the Monorail Katahno Station, two doors down from the Seven Eleven. The interior of the restaurant is old-fashioned, with tables equipped with hot plates lined up. The menu offers 12 different types of okonomiyaki. Both of us ordered the "Morishin-yaki" and decided to share the "Special Yakisoba" as well. It seems like you have to cook it yourself... But we wanted to enjoy the best condition of the dish, so we were spreading the batter on the hot plate when the owner overheard us and kindly offered to cook it for us. The "Morishin-yaki" costs 900 yen and includes beef, squid, shrimp, and seaweed. The batter made with yam is fluffy and soft, with a unique texture that melts in your mouth. It's thicker and more filling compared to the "Morishin" in Ibori. The "Special Yakisoba" costs 900 yen and contains pork, squid, shrimp, and has a slightly spicy sauce. The restaurant is run separately from the "Morishin" in Ibori, and although the recipes might be the same, the taste of this 43-year-old restaurant is uniquely delicious.

Located in front of the Monorail Katano Station in Kataono 3-chome, Kokura Kita-ku, is an okonomiyaki restaurant. When I arrived around 8 pm, the place was almost full. The menu caught my eye, especially the "Morishin Yaki." When the restaurant's name is included in the menu, it usually means it's a recommended and popular dish, but there was a cryptic comment saying "Contains beef, squid, shrimp. No cabbage." According to past reviews, it seems to be a yam griddle (^◇^;) Since it was my first visit, I wanted to try something more standard with a wheat flour base, so I ordered the "Mix" and as a quick appetizer while waiting for it to cook, I ordered the "Vegetable Stir-Fry." ●Mix: Pork, squid, shrimp, scallop, ham, batter, chopped cabbage, raw egg. It's a nostalgic style where you mix it yourself before cooking. Perhaps due to the amount of yam or how it was cooked, it was a bit dry and firm rather than fluffy. ●Vegetable Stir-Fry: Pork, cabbage, onion, green pepper, bean sprouts, carrot. It was not a vegetable griddle but a true vegetable stir-fry. It lacked saltiness for a good drinking snack, so I had to adjust it myself. As seen in previous posts, it seems that the prices have increased overall. Personally, I prefer having it cooked for me rather than doing it myself. I like fluffy okonomiyaki, so maybe I should have ordered the "Morishin Yaki" after all. They seem to be open until around 11 pm, so it could be a good place for a drinking spot or a late-night meal. Oh, I forgot to take a photo of the finished dish, haha. Next time, if it's not too busy, I'll have it cooked for me and take a good photo. Thank you for the meal. [Today's Order] *Mix 700 yen *Vegetable Stir-Fry 550 yen *Draft Beer (Medium) 500 yen *Prices exclude tax.

◉Genre: Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba ◉Area: Kataono, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: Right near Kataono Station on the municipal monorail ◉Parking: Not available (coin parking nearby) ◉Credit Card Payment: Not available ◉Number of Visits: Around 3 times ◉Number of Reviews: 1st review On this day, I casually visited "Morishin Kataono Store." ◇Exterior and Interior This is an okonomiyaki restaurant located in Kataono, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City. The traditional appearance still remains, giving off a nostalgic vibe. The inside of the restaurant is non-smoking, and there are no ashtrays outside. ◇Seating There are 4-person tables and 7 tables in total. ◇Menu Structure Only regular menu items are available, including okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yakisoba, teppanyaki, etc. The items I ordered are as follows: - Morishin-yaki (750 yen) → Morishin-yaki is what I personally consider the signature dish of this restaurant. Being a fan of yam teppanyaki, I always tend to order it. Although I love yam teppanyaki, I don't always order it wherever I go. So, it was a long time since I had yam teppanyaki! You might find it strange that I keep talking about yam teppanyaki, but to put it simply, this "Morishin-yaki" is... a yam teppanyaki. It's basically an okonomiyaki where all the flour is replaced with grated yam, and there's no cabbage. It contains frozen meat, squid, and shrimp, but personally, it's clearly not an okonomiyaki, but a yam teppanyaki. You cook it yourself by shaping it into a circle on the teppan, without a lid-like cover, and once it starts to solidify and take shape, you flip it. A few minutes later, it's ready to eat! The taste is... yam teppanyaki. However, it's typically eaten with just sauce as there's no soy sauce-based broth or ponzu, so it's not exactly a traditional yam teppanyaki in that sense, but the fluffy yam is truly yam teppanyaki. It might sound a bit confusing, but that's it! ◆Strong Points Delicious old-fashioned okonomiyaki. ◆Service Natural and unpretentious service. ◆Conclusion This was a drink after work on this day, and it had been quite a while. Probably the management is different, but I used to frequent another store with the same name, which is a thing of the past. It seems that my preferences are influenced by my home and work environments. By the way, the opening of the container for the sauce and mayo at this store is quite large, so be careful. It might have been just a one-time thing. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

Okonomiyaki with yam inside is delicious (~^O^~)! And this restaurant is super cheap!! I was surprised. Also, the yakisoba has crunchy vegetables and the noodles have a nice texture, it's super delicious (~^O^~). When asking people around here for recommendations on where to eat okonomiyaki, they often suggest this restaurant, and they were right. Let the staff cook the okonomiyaki for you ☆ It was around 2,000 yen for two people. I want to go again (~^O^~)

I thought it was okonomiyaki, but it was more like a yam on a hot plate and didn't have cabbage or green onions, so if you go thinking it's a yam on a hot plate, it might be good... ( ; ; )

This is an okonomiyaki restaurant right off the Kataeno Station on the monorail. It's an older establishment but quite popular with customers. While the okonomiyaki itself is important, when you can make it yourself at a restaurant, the sauce becomes crucial. The sauce here is just right - not too sweet, not too spicy, and adds to the overall deliciousness. It's no wonder that this place has a lot of customers.

I visited Morishin, located right next to Katanoe Station in Ogura Kita Ward. It was my first time visiting, even though it's close to my home. Every time I passed by, I noticed that there were usually a decent number of people inside, so I was curious. I ordered the pork and egg dish, and it was served promptly. The griddle they used showed signs of heavy use. The taste was neither exceptionally delicious nor bad. The convenience of its proximity to the station and the affordable prices make it a good option. Since my house is nearby, I would definitely visit again when I'm in need of a quick meal.

I went to Okonomiyaki Morishin in Kokura Kita-ku before, located right near Kataeno Station on the Kitakyushu Monorail. It's a familiar yakitori restaurant where I occasionally go for a meal. The interior of the restaurant is small with about 10 table seats, and it quickly gets crowded with customers. The menu includes various items, but we usually order the same things. My partner gets the mixed yakis, which includes pork, shrimp, scallops, squid, and ham, while I always go for the Morishin yakis with beef, pork, seaweed, and yam. It's mixed together on the hot plate and served piping hot. It may not look like much in the photo, but the Morishin yakis are fluffy and delicious. I always debate trying the mixed yakis, but end up choosing the Morishin yakis every time. They also have other recommended dishes like horumon (offal) on the hot plate. Next time, I'll have to stop by here as the first place to eat. Thank you for the delicious meal, Okonomiyaki Morishin. - Okonomiyaki Morishin on Tabelog: ☆

I have been to this restaurant twice. I eat out every day, so I often visit places around Kata-no area for lunch and dinner. I have written reviews for nearly 100 places around Kitakyushu, and even though I haven't written much for this place on my second visit, I realized that I must visit it quite often. The restaurant is located right near the Monorail Kata-no Station, next to a popular teishoku restaurant called Umedon. The interior has a nostalgic Showa era vibe, as it is a long-standing okonomiyaki restaurant. It is quite popular, with several groups of customers always present until closing time. The main attraction is the okonomiyaki, which you can enjoy either for a meal or as izakaya-style dining in the evening. I always order the pork okonomiyaki for 550 yen. The batter is delicious and fluffy. According to the advertisement, it is made with plenty of yam. It's a no-frills okonomiyaki restaurant that is easy to visit. Thank you for the meal!

On a Saturday night after 8 pm, I suddenly felt like eating okonomiyaki here (*^▽^*). I sat at a table near the kitchen. The son, who is an older brother, brought me water and a wet towel. "I'll have a strong rock of sweet potato shochu, please!!" I made a random order while they laughed and took it. The previous customers were a family of parents and children, enjoying a moment of family bonding. This restaurant is based on self-cooking. This old restaurant in Kokura is all about self-cooking. Therefore, my favorite okonomiyaki is a masterful skill ('◇')ゞ... or so I thought (laughs). The menu I chose that day was "Morishin-yaki" (yam teppanyaki style) with beef, squid, shrimp, and no cabbage: 750 yen. It's a perfect dish to enjoy with a drink of shochu as a snack. The steps for cooking my way... are shown in the photo. Gently mix the ingredients 3 or 4 times to let some air in. The fluffy feeling increases even more (*´艸`). As the amount of yam increases, the difficulty of flipping it also increases, but my cooking is at the level of a master (-。-)y-゜゜゜ ⇐ I'm a delusional guy. When it's cooked, cut into bite-sized pieces (sauce tends to seep in). Cook it well and add plenty of sauce at the end. Sprinkle with bonito flakes and seaweed, and add mayonnaise (this restaurant doesn't have ketchup). Turn off the teppanyaki grill. Since it's yam teppanyaki style, it goes well with ponzu soy sauce, but for a hearty snack, I prefer sauce (laughs). Hot and delicious~♪♪ I kept enjoying it while chatting with the landlady and her son. A few more customers had arrived. Thank you for the meal~!! I'll come back again~ Now, after this, I'm going to another place, "Matoi," for some more drinks~. This friend of mine... was apparently dining at Hishinrou. Why didn't they invite me!! Well, my mouth was satisfied with Morishin today~♪♪ Let's go, let's go!! Saturday Night Fever~!!

I was able to take a long break and return home, so I immediately visited the restaurant with my family. After peeking into the shop a few times, we were lucky to find a table available after 8 PM, so we quickly placed our order. We ordered a mix of okonomiyaki, yakisoba, okonomiyaki set meal, and pickled vegetables for two people. The okonomiyaki set meal comes with rice, miso soup, and pickled vegetables, and the pickled vegetables here are so delicious that we always order an extra plate. While waiting for the okonomiyaki with the pickled vegetables and beer, the okonomiyaki batter and cooked yakisoba are brought to the table, so we drink beer while cooking the okonomiyaki and snacking on the yakisoba. The yakisoba is chewy and perfectly cooked, and the beer goes down smoothly. This flow is the best. The freshly cooked okonomiyaki is filled with yam, has a fluffy texture, and a gentle flavor, making us very satisfied. I will definitely come back again when I return home!

I made it just in time for the 22:30 last order at Morishin, arriving at 22:20! I had heard it was delicious, so I wanted to try it (^o^)/ After finishing work, I dashed over there (lol). This time, I ordered the Corn Butatama! It was a fluffy okonomiyaki with grated yam in the batter and it was delicious (^o^)/ The only disappointing thing was that maybe because I ordered right at the last minute, the pork and corn were still partially frozen, so next time I will make sure to go earlier!

After visiting an old friend and senior colleague at the national hospital, I was feeling shocked by the drastic change in my senior's appearance. Even though I had work to do, I wanted to spend more time with my good friends today. "Let's go to Morishin! You like Gorigo okonomiyaki, right?" Friends are truly a blessing. They will follow you anywhere. Morishin is located near Kataono Station, and it has a cozy family-run atmosphere. It's a good restaurant where you can cook your own okonomiyaki. This is the correct way to enjoy okonomiyaki! Forget about those places that serve okonomiyaki on plates or individual griddles. That's not the traditional way! It may not be as popular as places like "Fukiya" or "Akaoni" in Fukuoka, but it has a charming local feel and is loved by its customers. The ambiance is cozy and clean, with a touch of tradition. This is what a true okonomiyaki restaurant should be like. "Gorigo, stop talking. Decide on your order." These annoying friends always have to ruin the moment. "I'll leave it up to you." My friend confidently ordered the Mix and Morishin-style okonomiyaki, along with pickled vegetables, beer, and shochu on the rocks. The pickled vegetables are delicious. They go well with both beer and shochu... Oh, I'm the designated driver... Alright, I'll be the driver then. Let's start cooking. This is the moment to show off the skills I honed at my local favorite okonomiyaki place, Gouchan. I'm the No. 1 successor to Gouchan's legacy. I have to prove myself here! Don't overmix the batter, incorporate some air. Don't spread it too thin at first, keep it a moderate size. Hyah!! Oops, messed up the flip on the Morishin-style okonomiyaki. It's all mushy... This is a super fluffy one, so it's tricky to cook! I flipped it too soon... No, I just need more practice!! Eventually, the other two completely left the cooking to me and started drinking heavily. I want to drink too (;_;) The pickled vegetables, with their homemade feel, are delicious. They must go well with shochu... The Mix was also tasty, but the finished Morishin-style okonomiyaki was incredibly delicious!! So fluffy and light!! The deliciousness was doubled by Gorigo's cooking skills. I forgot about my failed flip... It was a lonely night after visiting the hospital, but thanks to my amazing friends and this fantastic okonomiyaki restaurant, I feel much better now. Thank you, Morishin!

I have been relying on Morishin since a long time ago. It's surprising that there are so few reviews for such a popular place. There are various options like okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and yakisoba, but my personal recommendation is the Morishin Yaki. It contains seafood, pork, and yam. They first cook the seafood and then the batter. The batter is softer than regular okonomiyaki, more like a yam teppanyaki. It is topped with sauce and seaweed. Personally, I love their mayonnaise, it's slightly sweet and mild. Besides Morishin Yaki, other dishes are also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The owner has been a regular at this restaurant for a long time, and I was taken there by my daughter who can now eat out. The main menu consists of okonomiyaki and yakisoba, but there is something unique among them... that is the horumon and pickled vegetables. Although pickled vegetables are famous in Kokura, they usually come with only about 4-5 slices in a set meal, but here they are listed as a separate menu item. The pickled vegetables in a small dish are quite generous, so I think one plate per table is enough, but there are many die-hard fans of pickled vegetables in Kokura, so some people eat one plate per person. The okonomiyaki with yam inside is fluffy and delicious. The set meal's okonomiyaki is a bit smaller, so I always order extra rice (sweating). The other unique dish, horumon, made me wonder "How should I season this?" as it looks like raw leeks sprinkled on top of it (no seasoning color like soy sauce or miso). However, when grilled, it becomes a fragrant and flavorful dish that goes well as a side dish or a snack, which explains why many customers are drinking beer. Since they only open in the evening, I recommend arriving a bit early if you don't like waiting. *There is no parking lot, and some customers park on the sidewalk, but it is better to avoid this as it can cause inconvenience and there are many patrols along the national highway.
